It's a Friday evening and we're visiting the area, just wanted something quick we could take back to the Airbnb we rented for the weekend. Show up to restaurant, order at the door and food is delivered within ten minutes. Sweet and Sour Chicken for the girlfriend z I opted for the Chef's Special Mongolian Style Triple Delight. Both were still hot after a ten minute drive, abd tasted really good. Note that the Mongolian dish has green and white onions, and a ton of them. We easily could have split that dish between the two of us. We also tried their crab rangoon, which was some of the better we've had in the last couple months. Always get this delivered and is so hot upon arrival, you can barely touch the containers!! Usually get the general's chicken, sesame chicken, pint of garlic chicken! So so good! Was our first time and it was very good. We had four lunch plates and they all were excellent. Very large serving sizes. The fried cream wontons was the best. We also enjoyed the pork fried egg roll. read more

You know how salty your mouth gets for hours after eating Chinese food? Well, you won't have to worry about that here. About time. The best fried rice we've had in a long time. It may seem dry to some, but you can add whatever sauce you want to remedy that. The beef in the beef low mein was so tender you could eat it without teeth. Superb dumplings. Wonderful soups. The only negative thing is about the General Tso's chicken. Very sweet is the complaint, but nothing hot sauce couldn't fix, and some may like it better. I tend to like things over spiced. read more

Due to my laziness a few weeks ago I switched to another Chinese restaurant for takeout and was summarily disappointed. Tonite I returned to China Chef in Murrells Inlet. I ordered Spring rolls (2) and General Tso's Chicken with white rice. I have yet to regret ordering anything from them. The Spring Rolls were cooked perfectly and were very tasty. The chicken dish and rice were also quite flavorful and will done. I can alwAys count on the quality and flavor of their dishes. Excellent!!! read more

The hot and sour soup is great especially if you like mushrooms. I also get their diet dish of chicken and shrimp and the sauce comes on the side... I get a dinner and 2 lunches out of that and the shrimp are big and cooked perfectly. read more

We ordered a qt. wonton soup (8 wontons), beef lomein, and Kung Pao chicken in the special combination plate, which comes with roast pork fried rice and an egg roll. The wonton soup is ok, broth is just right not too salty, wontons are huge with lots of skin/wrapping. I could taste the Chinese sausage in the fillings. Beef lomein was flavorful, at least the noodles are. The noodles and very little veggies were executed beautifully in the wok, I could imagine. Beef part is just plain and kind of tasteless. Friend said it's the bad cut of beef, but I think it's the quality of which the beef is handled and processed. Now onto my Kung Pao chicken. It has all the ingredients you'd expect from Kung Pao chicken, and some more. But the key ingredient, dried red chili pepper is missing. I asked for extra spicy, hoping to get the kick from the dried peppers... They probably just used chili pepper paste and added a bit more for the spicules. I was disappointed. Sorry if you don't use dried pepper, the flavor just isn't there. It is even less of an authentic Kung Pao chicken than you'd get from Panda Express. I did enjoy all the veggies n stuff I got in the entree. There were mushrooms, water chestnuts, baby corn, bell peppers, and peanuts of course. The roast pork fried rice and the egg roll were ok. Fried rice tasted pretty flavorful with the tiny bits of roasted pork and plenty "wok hey." Too bad the rice is undercooked and hard, and the oil used for fried rice tastes a bit old, like it has been used to fry stuff for several times before. Egg roll was crisp and flavorful according to my fiend, but I've never been much of an egg roll person, I'll just take his words for it. Overall, food could have been better; execution is good enough, but ingredients could do better. read more

Tried China Chef for the first time while I was in Murrells Inlet The Shrimp Egg Foo Young was delicious. The gravy was amazing and had whole big shrimp in each patty. The fried rice was cooked perfectly Also tried the fried wontons. Very fresh and meaty. Went back again for a second time and was equally impressed. Ordered shrimp fried rice. The rice was nicely cooked with plenty of nice size shrimp in it. Didn't have to go digging to find them either Saw on the menu my all time favorite dish, Butterfly Shrimp in tomato sauce I requested it to be done in a brown sauce which was no problem for them. It was made to perfection Jumbo shrimp were nicely prepared and the bacon was also cooked perfectly Even though I live across the street from a Chinese takeout it's worth the effort to drive to Murrells Inlet !!! read more

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area I have found the food is always delicious my go to is the sweet-and-sour chicken it's always perfectly done and The chicken fried rice is always delicious I have lots of allergies to seafood and peanuts I'm always terrified to eat somewhere especially Chinese or Japanese they are known to use peanut oil in a lot of dishes that don't have peanut in them and this place does not so I can eat and feel safe I recommend it to friends and family and everyone who's went loves its not a super fancy place its family-owned but the food is delicious must give it a try if you're in the area read more
