Golden Karma is an Asian fusion restaurant and bar which opened recently in the former Brother's Pizza Restaurant near the intersections of Willow St with Queen City Ave and Union St. They are open for indoor dining and takeout. This place looked ready to open back in spring, but the pandemic delayed their opening. The place was redone inside which offers a clean indoor dining room and a full service bar with high seating and flatscreen TVs along the back wall plus 8 beers on tap. For food, they offer Chinese, Japanese, and Thai cuisine plus sushi and bento boxes. Most dishes are priced in the $8.95 to $19.95 range. Chinese & Japanese (bento boxes) Lunch Specials are offered until 3PM, priced $8.95 to $12 range. I stopped by for late evening takeout recently and picked up an order of Chicken Pad Thai ($10.95 plus tax), which was ready in 10 minutes. The portion of Pad Thai was good, which had a mix of red & green peppers, onions, sprouts, egg, ground peanuts, tender soft slices of boneless chicken, lime and soft cooked noodles, which had a slightly sweet flavor and a wet texture, but not overdone. First time ordering takeout from Golden Karma...... the online ordering page is easy to use and there are sooooo many choices. Our order was ready on time and it was delicious! It tasted really fresh and clean and (unlike some other places) didn't taste like it was made in the same oil from 10 years ago. The lunch combo for General Gau's is so reasonably priced at $10.50 that it's hard to believe. The portion isn't huge, so you won't likely have too many leftovers, but it IS meant to be a lunch portion so it's a very good value. My only suggestion is that maybe they could add an option to decline the soup. We don't really eat the soup but there is no way to opt out of it. read more

The Sichuan beef had a lot of veggies which I enjoyed, I am a huge veggie fan with Chinese food. The hot and sour soup is legit, I haven't had it like this since I moved to the region. The sushi was average to me, not bad but I think I will stick to the Chinese food. I did like the boa buns, they had good flavor. The inside is nice and the staff is friendly. To be able to schedule an order on New Years' Eve at a Chinese restaurant, have it delivered on time and taste so good is really impressive. Crispy Pad Thai and General Tso's Chicken were great. I love this place! I came here with friends out of town on two occasions and that was already amazing. The service was top tier and the food was absolutely delicious. The drinks are really good too. I just went there today and sat at the bar with a friend. This experience blew me away! Somehow sitting at the bar was even better. The bartender/everything was such a nice person, she told us her favorites and they didn't disappoint. The cocktails she made were beautifully presented as well as being a dance on the tongue. I've had two very disappointing Chinese food experiences in the last couple of weeks so I was really craving decent Chinese food. This place popped up with decent reviews across applications so I thought I would give it a try for lunch on a Saturday for takeout. It was so good! I ordered the General Gao's chicken lunch combo with fried rice, spring roll, hot and sour soup. My order was ready on time, packaged perfectly. The man at the front counter was very pleasant. The food smelled great on my 22 min ride home. I opened up the container and was pleasantly surprised. It was a very generous portion for lunch, not skimpy on the chicken. The rice wasn't greasy. The Gen Gao itself was white meat chicken that was not dried out, nicely fried and nicely sauced with a few pieces of tender-crisp broccoli. The spring roll was still crispy, even after the ride home, and very fresh, zero stale oil taste and not greasy. The hot and sour soup was okay. Not my favorite but good enough. Probably just a personal preference. My lunch combo May 2023 was $10.50 so it was an amazing value! From what I saw of the interior it looked impeccably clean. I really wanted to try the Duck buns, they looked great in the photos. It was really empty in the restaurant(for lunch). I think they do mostly take away now. Service was nice but kind of standoffish. With the whole vibe, I almost said lets exit upon entry. We did have lunch. The duck bun was kind of chilled, and the duck very fatty and not crispy. There was a ton of sauce on the bun and a couple scallions. The sauce to duck ratio was overpowering. I had sweet and sour chicken with an egg roll, and dining partner had Generals chicken with crab rangoons. The chicken fingers were very tough, maybe it was a strange piece of chicken? They do exist. Or maybe it wasn't cut on the bias? The batter was really heavy too. The rangoons and egg roll were the best part of the food we ordered. I hope this restaurant makes it through the shutdowns. I am sure it has been difficult with the staffing issues, and rising cost of materials. read more

I'm glad we took a chance - their duck bao buns are AWESOME, their general Gao, orange beef, and Kung pao beef are delicious. The second time we ordered, I tried the Sushi and it was fresh and also delicious, especially since I feel really good sushi can be hard to find. Our go to Chinese takeout place used to be in Londonderry but this place is much closer and the food quality is just as good, if not better than, the old place we used to go. I've always had a good experience at good karma i recently turned 21 and wanted to try a scorpion bowl and tried ordering a scorpion bowl for one and the lady refused to serve me for 10 mins and had a back and forth argument with me, i told her to scan the id as it was a temporary from dmv and even had my old license with me, she than proceeds to overpour the scorpion bowl to a dangerous level and was just rude, I always loved coming to golden karma but after this experience I don't think I'll be coming back. read more

Absolutely phenomenal. So good it even holds up to some of my favorite spots closer to Boston. I hope they expand the Szechuan portion of their menu, but other than that this place doesn't miss. Every cuisine type they offer is done extremely well; from the typical American-Chinese fare like chicken and broccoli with egg rolls to the mor authentic dishes like the Szechuan fish or chicken. Each dish is done with the utmost care, quality, and attention to flavor and detail. I love additions like the Peking duck baos because you don't always want to order a $25 half order of Peking duck just to have one wrap. Wow! I've only ordered a few times but I'm super pleased. All I've ordered has been Cantonese and it's all been good old-school and fresh. I get the impression the cooks are from NY given the taste. The fried rice has peas, carrots, beansprouts and egg (remember when?) The boneless spareribs are possibly the best in NH. Their lobster sauce tastes like I remember it used to taste. The wok cooked items all have that "breath of the dragon" taste that's missing in so many places nearby. We've wanted to try this since it opened a few weeks ago. Boy we glad that we did. We came in the mid afternoon and the restaurant was nearly empty. The staff was personable and very attentive. The menu was extensive with lots of appetizer, salad, dinner, sushi & maki, combo and lunch specials to choose from. The drink menu was exceptional as well. To start we opted for dishes we already knew so we could have something to compare with. We chose crab Rangoon, eggrolls, and shrimp/chicken Pad Thai. The eggrolls and crab Rangoon came out hot, crispy, and delicious with REAL crabmeat, not the artificial crab sticks. The eggrolls were stuffed with vegetables, the rice skin wrappers were crunchy and super fresh. Neither appetizer was oily at all. The pad Thai was fresh, the noodles were not mushy, the chicken was tender and not overcooked. The same with the shrimp. We had a wonderful meal and the price was super reasonable for everything we got to enjoy. We would enjoy going again. We don't go out often but when we do, Golden Karma will be on our list of top choices in the area.
