    Roasted duck rice
    May L.

My hubby brought me here last week. The moment I stepped in, the lilies pond and koi fish decor on the window, burgundy booth seats and the green cushioned chairs, the smell of food ... reminded me of the 70s 80s Chinese restaurant in SF/LA area. We got there around 1-ish and the house was half full. Many locals and regular customers. The server was prompt and friendly. We ordered roasted duck rice, sweet and sour pork, and soy sauce beef thick rice noodles. The roasted duck came out warm with the brown gravy. The duck skins were crispy and roasted nicely. The soy sauce beef rice noodles was okay. Noodles were a little bit dry, but beef were good. The sweet and sour pork (chop) were a little tough, the sauce was not sweet and sour enough. The owner came to greet each table and offer us sample crispy bbq pork. They came out fresh and hot, the bbq pork were so juicy and flavorful! Next time we will definitely order their bbq dishes and the egg foo yung dish! Can't wait to go back and try!

Golden Gate is amazing. I've been coming here for years since I've lived in the Southside of Atlanta and was introduced by my husband years ago. I've never had a bad experience. I've airways been greeted by someone with a smile, even behind a man these days. I've come this time with my son, cousin and aunt. We got a bunch of different items and just shared everything. The first thing we got was the shrimp tempura and they were so good, I had to order a second one. Then we got the house fried rice and for $9 and since change, we each had a helping plus there was plenty to take home to my man. Then we got the ribs and the pound of roast pork, which is the crispy pork. The last item we got was the dumplings because they're made fresh and to order. Everything was fantastic. I wish I could go back today but they're closed on Tuesdays. Our tab was about $80 and that was amazing for all the food we received plus the drinks and we all had plenty to go for the next day. Typing this review made me want another order of shrimp tempura so I'm sure I'll be back this week for my next fix - LOL

My family frequents Golden Gate whenever went in the mood for some "sit-down" Chinese/Scezuan food! As always, the service is impeccable. We love Stan-Lee!! He's awesome, suggestive, lively and we look forward to seeing him when we come! The food portions are large and very plentiful. They have some of the best roast pork & duck around!! Our last visit, there were 5 adults & 2 kids..we ordered beverages (sweet tea, green tea, & pink lemonades) and 1-Chicken Hot Pot, the Appetizer Platter, 2 Shrimp Tempura apps, Sesame Chicken, Garlic Chicken, Chicken Fried Rice, & House Special Fried Rice. The check, which comes with fresh orange slices and fortune cookies, was about $120!! And you better believe, we packed up our leftovers to take home.. which spanned 3 separate households This place never misses!

If you interested in Cantonese food, at least you need to try this Lo Mein.

As a Cantonese from Shenzhen, China. This restaurant is awesome! I miss the Cantonese food!! And the food is good, people is nice. I will come here every day if I was in Atlanta.

Where do I start? I was craving some authentic Cantonese on the south side and I found a gem! The decor on the outside isn't the best but do not let the looks fool you! Located in Forest Park sign is clear to see. Has your modernized American Chinese food but they also have a Cantonese side of the menu. Food varies from vegetarian to pork intestine. Black pepper shrimp was amazing. Service was amazing! Very friendly and attentive. Food came fast and the servers made sure we were good at all times. Prices aren't bad a lot of the pricier seafood like lobster and crab are market price. I got the roast pork with rice and vegetables. Black bean mussels. The lo mein with chicken was very flavorful. Overall I would definitely will be back. Food and service was great.

    Hot n Spicy soup

For lunch today I decided to try this place out for something different and filling. I ordered the seafood and vegetables on the special luncheon menu. This meal came with soup and egg roll- I chose the hot and spicy. The soup was that..hot n spicy. What I enjoyed about mostly about the soup is that it was filling and spicy. It also had baby shrimp and very chunky. I Loved It. The egg roll had meat in it (I believe pork) I was expecting veggies but it was good. My main course was delicious and believe me when I say no skimping on the seafood. My scallops were bigger than a quarter, my shrimp weren't tough and a decent size. The vegetables included was the water chestnut, broccoli, baby corn, snow peas and cabbage. I am so full from my soup, I will eat that later but my taste test says this will be delicious. This is not like the China Kings of the Chinese restaurants, this is truly as close as authentic that I've had in a long time. Annnnddddd for $8, nice little gem.

    Canned mushrooms?

I almost never send food back. Especially at a what appears to be a family run restaurant. But I first ordered what was named "Hot Pepper Pork" and had a chili pepper next to it to suggest it was hot and spicy. What came were overly breaded deep fried chunks in a a sauce that could have been a desert topping. I only tried three bites and none of them contained any actual pork, and were just breading. I suggested that they might have sent me the sweet and sour pork instead, but the waiter said no, that was the Hot Pepper Pork. He was very gracious in taking it back, however. I ordered instead the Roast Pork with Chinese Vegetables. The vegetables were all totally overcooked, and the mushrooms looked and tasted canned. The pork itself was OK and the sauce was alright I guess. I would have sent this back too, but I was hungry so I picked out all of the pork and ate the sauce on top of the rice. The hot and sour soup was nice and the fried noodles that came with it were crunchy and not stale which often is the case. I don't think this was a staffing problem. There were several servers in the front of the house at least. But I have had better Chinese food at airport fast food places.

    Rice was very bland

Once you park and step inside it's such a cheesy mom & pop business overly decorated in Thai decor. The restrooms are ALWAYS clean. This is not fast food, you will wait a little while even 15-20 mins for takeout, but it's worth it. My favorite spot on the Southside. I first discovered this restaurant while in Real Estate school at Barney Fletcher. Most evenings we tried to hurry and find close dinner options. The portions are large and the prices are reasonable. It can add up to over $40 if you're greedy ordering several items like an appetizer + entree + dessert. I've eaten on my leftovers maybe 2-3X. No exaggeration! The best dish I've had is Naam Khao (crispy rice w/ fermented pork bits, fresh veggies and wrapped in lettuce) and Laos spring rolls (crunchy) . Thai tea overly sweet so it's best when watered down from the ice. Mango sticky rice is a purple color and yummy as well. Unique earthy taste, but still sweet and on par. I will drive 20-30 mins bcos I crave it sometimes. Everyone I've introduced to this place are fans on the first visit. I almost want to gate keep! lol

The wings were crispy and nice I was dipping it all in the sauce. I didn't care for the papaya salad it tasted like dead sea animals then I noticed a lil crab in it so that explained why I tasted fish/crustacean. Maybe they also added fish sauce? I don't use those flavors in my dishes so the flavor profile was new for me. No hate just my experience I would still recommend you give them a try. I love the rice steamer I washed it and immediately started cooking sticky rice for the first time. The staff were nice. Nice ambiance, quiet, pretty plants and cultural memorabilia all around.
