I had a craving for some Chinese food. My stomach was already hurting so I thought "Why not order something that I never get to eat cause it's hurts my stomach". I ordered the meat wontons, hunan chicken lunch special, hot and sour soup, and a wonton soup. This was supposed to be half for lunch and half for dinner. The human chicken was drenched in sauce. The meat/veggie ratio was very sparse. I would not have ordered this again. I guess I prefer Szechuan over Hunan style The hot and sour soup was very spicy and was full of egg. That is something different to me. The crispy noodles were good. The meat wontons were done well but just barely had any meat in them. I did not get a chance to try the wonton soup. Bad choice of ordering when already in pain. Which was my own fault. read more

My friend wanted Chinese takeout for her birthday so we randomly chose Golden Dragon. It was decently priced, and the service was good. The food was done in 10-15 minutes. It tasted like your average Chinese takeout. Nothing extraordinary but no complaints. If you just want some saucy, sodium filled, Chinese food from childhood, this place is perfect. read more

Went back to Golden Dragon tonight & we got vegetarian dishes. Soup, Moo Shu & Chinese veggies. All were excellent! The soup was LOADED with veggies, the Moo Shu -which we ordered with light sauce -was very tasty & the veggie dish very satisfying. This is one of my all-time favorite Chinese takeout spots. However there was a certain protocol to be followed. Make your order and step aside. Never change your order. Never. This little lady runs a tight ship and she's all business. She is the dragon Empress. Keep your head down after ordering. Speak only when spoken to. Don't complain about the heat. Don't ask to use the phone. Be ready to pay. Only one Thank You is necessary. Don't tell her her food is wonderful it will be considered an insult because she already knows. The looks of the place is not the nicest but don't let it fool you. I had the sweet and sour chicken and the egg drop soup and it was so good. The service is quick and they are nice. I would recommend getting you food to go just because there is no seating and it's not very appealing visually. But the food and service is definitely worth it. Golden Dragon is just another run of the mill greasy, very greasy, fast food Chinese Food, primarily take out. There was no white rice option. My greasy shrimp Egg Foo Young came with some yellow colored greasy rice the restaurant calls fried rice. The public restroom was disgusting. There was no toilet paper, and no hot water. read more

I love this place. I've tried others in Wilmington and they just don't compare. I'll go out of my way to come here. The food is always hot, fresh, and consistent. The fried chicken wings, fried rice, and the house special lo mein (the one with everything) are delicious. In fact, I've never been disappointed with anything I've ever ordered, and the portions are very generous. Kudos to the lovely lady who owns it. My girlfriend and I went here after running a 5k because it was close to our apartment, and honestly I wasn't expecting much because it looks like those typical crappy Chinese take-out places but I was pleasantly surprised by the food! The food: Alright, I might've just been REALLY REALLY hungry because we just had run a 5k at 9 in the morning or that I had REALLY low expectations, but I was really satisfied with everything I got. Don't get me wrong, it is typical Chinese take-out and the quality is mediocre. But let me tell you, the fried dumplings were something to write home about! The sauce that comes with it is delicious! We got the sweet and sour chicken which was standard. I also got plain lo mein which also met my Chinese take-out standards. The portions were so big that we had enough for another meal the next day! The service and ambiance: I didn't feel the need to separate the categories for this because we got our food to-go but it's a pretty regular Chinese food experience. The place is regular, pictures of the food on the wall, and the person who takes your order clearly doesn't speak much English but as long as I can give my order and have it made correctly then I don't mind. All in all: I think I will go back, if you want cheap, standard Chinese take-out then i'd recommend this place for sure! read more

Golden Dragon is basically a takeout version of your average mall Chinese restaurant with a much larger menu. Except for the very pleasant staff, there's nothing special to recommend it except for that expanded menu. It is definitely not set up to be a sit-down restaurant, as it is a hole in the wall at best. Also, they serve drinks in cans, not from the fountain, and they don't even have ice if you want tap water. If you like mall Chinese food, then this is a good place to stop. Otherwise, you should probably stay away. My wife tells me we aren't eating there ever again, which is a bit harsh. Sometimes mall Chinese really hits the spot. read more

I have been going here for years. My dry cleaners is a few doors down, so I call and order my meal, and walk over a few minutes later. When I get there my food is ready for me to take home and eat. This place has been very efficient on nights my wife, "can't cook" because we get our food quick, and it tastes excellent! Would highly recommend!!! read more

Standard cookie-cutter Chinese takeout joint. I thought these places were mostly the same, but this one is a little off. I eat there several times a year as it's close to my office. Most things are fine, but my favorite things are General Tso's and hot and sour soup, and neither of these are very good. The General Tso's is mushy, and the soup is kind of bland without much of the veggies and other ingredients, sometimes it's too congealed. I will still continue to go there, and will probably even try those items again at some point, hoping that they will get better. read more

Had a hankering for some sesame chicken tonight. Picked up a combination dinner, everything looked good. Lo mein and eggroll were good. Broccoli was so-so / the usual. The chicken though - this was different than I have experienced on other visits. It was very soft/mushy and the third or fourth piece I bit into, I bit right down onto a bone-like substance. Ordered some delivery from here one night when I was in town for a very late dinner. It was about 10:30pm so it was nice that they would actually take it out so late. Though I wasnt thrilled with the food. The crab ragoons, while they did use actual crab, were dry and pasty as far as the filling goes and there wasnt very much of it. And the sesame seed chicken was a bit too sour for my taste. The service was fast and the food is average, but Im not the biggest fan of it. read more
