We were pleasantly surprised to find a Chinese restaurant in Waterloo. And even more surprised to hear they are dog-friendly! The staff were welcoming to Simba. Service was fast fast fast! As soon as we sat down, menu and tea followed. (Where did she appear from?) We ordered enough for our lunch and some takeaway. Food came fast too, we asked for less sugar and they accommodated. We also got complimentary chicken sticks (real chicken tender cut in strips & spring rolls) and complimentary soup (Sezchuan or egg drop). I liked the Sezchuan because my was slightly spicy. Our food came piping hot and freshly cooked. We Know it's freshly cooked because of the ruckus of the wok and ladle in the kitchen. Sounds of Wok Hei, very important in Chinese cooking. With our takeaways, we got another bowl of complimentary soup. We left satisfied and belly happy. read more

Not very good I've been going there over 20 years so disappointed I got sweet and sour shrimp which was just baked shrimp in a batter greasy and cold and nasty change so much. The prices went up. I'm gonna be honest, I used to love this restraunt I recommended it to everyone and kept their menus in my car but lately I've been so disappointed. Their food is still good, imo their Mongolian beef is the best thing I've ever ate from a Chinese restaurants. But I've just ordered empress chicken today which is labeled as a "spicy dish" and honestly I could have fed it to my 1 year old. It had no spice might as well have been sweet and sour. But I can't argue it was still pretty good. But god damn it if they don't have awful servers. Every time I come here the servers are rude and short. Today a waitress filled my water spilled ice and water all over the table and just walked off and didn't say a word! Are you kidding me? If you decide to eat here just get it to go! I definitely won't be coming here as often as I used to. My husband and I were fortunate enough to have lunch at this wonderful restaurant. I had their lunch sweet and sour chicken and my husband ordered their lunch sweet and sour pork. We were immediately brought hot tea. I'm not a huge hot beverage drinker but my husband loved the tea. Next we were brought out a cup of their egg drop soup. Usually I'm not a fan of this soup because it's too salty. This soup was delicious! I loved it - my husband requested a second bowl because he enjoyed it so much. If you are good with that, and in the mood for some decent food several steps above a Chinese buffet, then this may be your place! We started with some crab rangoon, as pot stickers took too long. I had the triple delight, and my dinner companions had sesame beef and chicken which they also gave a thumbs up! Not crowded on a Sunday night, but, not empty either = good sign. read more

The only problem I have with Golden China is finding Chinese nearly as good when we're away. If value matters this is your place, if you love a great Chow Harloc this is your place. The hot sour soup is not so spicy hot you can't eat it and not under spiced either. Lunch is served with a chicken finger and a spring roll along with hot oolong tea. Love this place. My oldest son lives 110 miles away and this is his go to place when he comes home. Lunch is the bargain here. read more

This place is nothing special. The service wasn't great and they weren't overly busy on this super cold day. The crab rangoons were pretty good, but the rest of the food was just sloppy and not flavorful at all. The Kung Bao I ordered was supposed to be spicy but didn't have even the slightest bit of kick. The rice served with each meal wasn't steamed rice or fried.......it was like soy drenched or something. Food wasn't disgusting, but ranks up there with Chinese food from a mall food court.
