The ratings of this Texan chain made me a bit nervous, but I have to say, we were pleasantly surprised by the food, and the service we received here! This is my favorite place to eat. Get the golden tenders, spicy with zing sauce, and a large okra. Be sure to eat in to make sure your food is fresh. They're glad to redo your order if the food was cold. I eat here about five times a week. There's no outdoor seating as mentioned on yelp, but they have great new TVs in there and booth seating. I would give this location ZERO stars if I could ! I called ahead to pre order a 10 piece roasted all dark legs and thighs, I got there, paid for my order and went home .. While sitting down to eat, I served my 5 year old before I served myself, I cut into my chicken and this is what I saw .. The chicken was undercooked and raw in some spots, blood was running out of my chicken and when I realized this, I also noticed that my 5 year old was already down to the bone with his chicken.. I instantly panicked and started to break apart the rest of the pieces, hoping that mine were the only ones undercooked and sure enough every last one were bleeding from the inside.. EXCEPT for the additional five pieces of chicken(white meat) I added to the order so that i could get the 15 piece family meal.. I PAID $34 and it's all in the trash!! After 6 years in Texas, we decided to try Golden Chick for the very first time! What had held us back were the reviews, not specifically at this location, but all locations. Boy, were they wrong! We ordered a family tender meal with spicy chicken tenders, mac & cheese, and fried okra. First of all, I hate cooking okra at home because it is so messy frying it all up, so I'm always on the lookout for an okra dealer. This is my new go to! Super crispy and hot, and not dripping with grease! Yum! The spicy chicken tenders are amazing! They are regular tenders with a spicy rub on the outside, and they were spicy indeed! The chicken is not dry, and the breading is crisp and not greasy. Double yum! Then, the mac & cheese was another family pleaser. A good starchy side for the rest of the meal, and it actually had flavor! Last but not least - these yeast rolls, y'all. OMG. They are to die for. Like the kind you want to order a dozen of to take them home and binge eat them on the couch. They are so stinkin' good. I believe it was a manager that took my order, and he was super friendly and eager to please. He was even walking around the store offering to bring to go boxes and passing out coupons. We couldn't make up our minds as to what to have for dinner last night. First it was Subway, then Whataburger, and as we drove by Golden Chick, we knew we were in the mood for something fried. Now, the last time we came here, I loved their tenders. Juicy and crunchy, perfect. Husband wasn't a big fan of their fried chicken pieces last time but since we could get a decent meal for a great price ($23-ish) to feed four of us, we went ahead and ordered the chicken tender family meal, along with mac 'n cheese and fried okra. There was SO MUCH of the fried okra and mac 'n cheese. The chicken tenders were fantastic considering it was just an hour away from closing. The mac 'n cheese was excellently cheesy, fried okra tasty. Do not get me started on their Almost Famous yeast rolls. Why are they not entirely famous, is beyond me. I could eat these until I pass out. We definitely got our fill and had plenty left over. The staff is very nice and helpful. I can definitely see us coming back more often. I really love the food and the spot in Wylie is perfect for me and my family, also some co-workers. Every time I come it does take a while for the staff to greet me or even say "we'll be right with you". That's my only concern they are really nice and friendly like I said the food is amazing and quick unless you have a huge order which is normal for them to take long. Ordered from the new store at 3201 FM 544. Placed the online order at 3:30 PM for a 5:15 PM delivery. At 4:54 PM I received a text that my delivery had been set up with Uber. At 5:06 PM I received a text that my delivery had been canceled and to contact the store. I called the store twice and no one answered! I had a house full of people for 4th of July and no food. The least Golden Chick could have done is called to tell me what happened and let me know if I could pick up the order. I just checked my credit card online and the $52.50 charge is still pending! Went here this evening and placed my order for the 15 piece family with 3 sides at 7:50PM. At no time did anyone tell me they only had 13 pieces, nor did they ask if I would like to do something different. Therefore, when the people in front of me got their order I thought nothing of it. With a surprised look on their face they look at the roasted chicken and THEN informed me they only had thirteen pieces. I was upset before that, but now I really upset. Not once did the manager say 2 words to me, did not even offer an apology. I wouldn't have asked for it to go if I had not been in a bit of a hurry. The young girl that was getting my order by herself did apologize, while 3 of the workers in the back came out to play with the baby. Granted, no one else was in the place or placing an order. The young girl did get my order totally correct and was very polite. I was so mad all I could say to her when asked if I wanted anything else was NO Thank you. I did not want to be rude to her, she did her job. Now for the food: We got 1 jerky type breast and the rest was thighs and wings, all over seasoned. It was caked on in spots. Not really a fan of their sides. Too salty or over/under cooked. The coleslaw was salty. The mashed potatoes were good. Not enough gravy. Fried okra was fresh out of the grease, I like it a little more crispy but it was ok. But when you wait to put the okra in the grease after all the chicken is in the bucket it should be hot. The rolls are the BEST, well done on the rolls! Now for attire: No nets on anyone heads. Long hair was in rubber bands, but still very easily not sanitary. No gloves, did use tongs and other devices to get food. One worker actually had the sleeves torn out of the shirt he was wearing. This was one of the worst meals I've ever paid over $25 for. The place is so dark and looked closed. The guy taking orders was training but apparently had no one with him because he overcharged us. We ordered a catfish meal but were charged for 3 individual pieces of fish, an individual side of fries, and a drink and told they don't have catfish meals....When the manager got involved he asked us how much we think we were overcharged and made us do the math for their mistake. The fries are half raw and unsalted, the Mac and cheese was watery and bland. We could hear the guy behind us also having trouble ordering and the manager arguing with him.
