First time at a Golden Chick. I ordered the Big & Wicked Combo (their spicy chicken sandwich), and was confused when the response was "do you want it spicy?". Is there a spicier version of the Big & Wicked Spicy Sandwich? The next question was "do you want cheese?", not "do you want cheese for an extra 50 cents?". I'd have preferred the latter. The drink cup I was given had damage enough to ensure that a lid wouldn't seal good. The sandwich was quite good, but my daughter didn't enjoy her 2-piece fried chicken combo as much. I like fried okra and was glad to be able to order it, but it was a far cry from really good fried okra. Google says the address is 521 South Hwy 87, but my receipt says 520. I wonder which is correct? Overall, I don't regret stopping in, but I'm not raving about the experience either. read more

This could possibly be the worst fast food place west of the Mississippi. We stopped there on our way from Georgia to Wyoming and bought $40.00 worth of what they were selling for chicken only to toss it in the dumpster on the vacant lot next door. The strange thing was we witnessed a traveling family of 4 from Colorado do exactly the same thing. This place is operated by underage children that only one of which spoke English and terrible at best. read more

To start off they have been slow seems they opened we have been there several times and have delt with the wait do to the good food! But the food has even started to get worse now. We stopped buy at 11:15 to day and got what we are sure was leftovers from the day before and cold breast and wings are sons tenders were fresh. Also the same location we tried to eat at on Friday night 28 minutes till closing the counter lady that could bearly speak English told use they were closing and we would have to get are orders to go and they were out of several items. We stopped here despite the other reviews. It was very clean, the staff was helpful and friendly, and the food came out hot and fast.

We were going to eat in the restaurant (to avoid fried chicken smell in the hotel room) but the place was overrun with children. Yes, there were adults too, but they were letting the children run amok, screeching chairs, running around, etc. So we ordered to go. The chicken (both pieces and tenders) was fine. The dirty rice was old. It was not the worst Golden Chick I've had, but it was far from the best. read more

This place only got 1 star because I had to give it one. The service was subpar since none of the employees taking English spoke very fluent English. The family ahead of ours had their order messed up and then got undercooked okra. Mine and my brothers chicken tenders were cold cold. Like they were never put under a heat lamp and cooked hours ago. My experience here was so much better than most of the reviews for this place. I used the drive-through and placed a somewhat oddball order - a chicken tender salad, a side of dirty rice, and a chocolate chip cookie. Service at the drive-through was fast and courteous. I half expected something to be forgotten from my order, like the packet of salad dressing. But it was all there. The salad was delicious - a good hearty salad with hot crispy chicken on top. But the dirty rice was amazing! I expected something on par with Popeye's, but their dirty rice was moist, flavorful, and tasted almost exactly like Pappadeaux, which I consider the model of great dirty rice from a chain restaurant. Anyhow, this was my first time ever stopping in Dalhart for supper, but if I'm ever hungry in this neck of the woods again, I'll come back here, for sure. read more

First we waited 5 minutes to place our order then we got to the window and waited another ten minutes to be seen. The person taking our money did not have her mask on her face but on her neck. If I didn't want golden chick so much w would've left. We finally paid and got our food and then my husband's chicken was hot. Mine was not because we had to wait in his chicken!!!! Whatever!!! But I asked for a sweet tea. My tea was NOT sweet!!!! They better be glad I didn't want it that sweet anyway!!! Just a bad experience altogether. I'm not one for leaving bad reviews really but this golden chick really let me down. We waited in line for over 10 min to just get our food and it was not busy. They then gave me an unsweet tea and honey mustard when I asked for sweet tea and gravy. No big deal. I just went inside and got it fixed. However, they once again gave me an unsweet tea and the gravy was very watery almost as if they had poured too much water into the mix so I just trashed it. Don't go here if you want fast food. I ordered two chicken sandwiches at 3:30 and it took longer than 20 minutes. They're excuse was that they had no chicken patties cooked. If you sell chicken all day and have no other customers why don't you have chicken made? By the way it was 3:54 when we finally got our food. Not even close to rush hour. The chicken strip I got there were room temp and the skin was soggy. I ate maybe two bites and threw the rest away. Would not recommend.

MASKS NOT WORN. Visited this location while driving through and luckily went inside to order. 3 workers were not wearing masks while preparing our meals-2 of them had masks pulled around their chins and another had no masks. This Golden Chick is not as sanitary as it should be right now, especially following Covid 19 protocol. It's understandable people go order through drive through without a car since the dine in area is not open, but I was right beside the window waiting for my order, when a kid walked right in the middle of my car and window to receive his order. The worker should have told him to wait till she finished attending me since she already had my card and was about to get me my order. They also took a long time to get everyone's orders. read more
