I received my refund along with a generous store credit, which meant a lot after the time it took to resolve. I also want to thank the manager Tabby in training and Christian the night manager who were both so kind and helpful--they really made the experience better. The food is good when it's fresh. It's pricey and they stay busy most of the time so I understand why food isn't always made to the order. Service is 0/10. Manager told me she wouldn't refund my forgotten food and made it a threat. She felt as if I was yelling at her and I was not. Seemed more of a power trip and then refused to credit my money. I'm not one to get upset over $4 dollars but Tes (name I was given) was very unpleasant! Do better! read more

We are visiting the Rockport area this week and stopped at Golden Chick here in town. We were greeted promptly by a smiling, friendly young woman who took our order. The chicken was delicious--crispy and hot. The fried okra, very good. The facility appeared clean and organized. We look forward to another visit. read more

Great food and bit pricier!, the reason I go to Golden Chick, services is pretty good considering the amount of customers they receive at dinner time. I have to mention this about the other Fried Chicken restaurant in Corpus they gone to extra crispy chicken which is bit hard to eat as a SENIOR CITIZEN, that's their choice and removed one or two sides from the menu. read more

Best tasting chicken of the chains in CC. However, having to wait 45 minutes for your simple order to be brought to the counter kinda sours that one plus. It wasn't really busy, there were at least six employees in the kitchen area and at times more than that...a couple people showed up and not in uniform of any kind and started working as well. For some reason, they seemed to want to concentrate on the drive-up window more than those people who were inside and also waiting for their order. At the time I'd been waiting for 30 minutes, an order number higher than mine is called out and I approached the counter and asked if maybe that was my order and the girl (one of the two who weren't in uniform) said "we're waiting on chicken sir" and I said that I'd been there for 30 minutes...she did the back of her hand flip off at me....like "so what?". At 45 minutes, the woman who originally took my order went to prep some boxes for takeout and again called out the number that was higher than mine. They probably took my order. I told her that and she in 2 minutes time, fixed it by putting the proper number of pieces in the boxes and my specified sides. 45 minutes. In that time I observed employees who were quite at ease carrying on a great deal of conversations while filling not one single order. Only ONE of these employees had any kind of hat or head covering on. Two male employees have facial hair and neither of them had coverings to protect the food. The two people who came in "out of uniform" to help...neither had hair covers...and the female had a long pony tail. Gloves not being worn by food handlers. As good as the chicken ended up being. I don't know who runs their business but they obviously could care less about customer service I've complained too many times but their chicken is so damn good it's like that cheating boyfriend that you just can't leave. This was our giving them a second try at getting food there & we were not impressed. The restaurant was not dirty, but, it is quite worn & tired looking. The service staff was not really rude, however, they were, let's say, aloof. The service was speedy, which was nice. The chicken sandwich had breading that tasted like they cooked with lard, not greasy, but had a lard taste & it coated your mouth with a lard-like feel. At $5.00 the price was fair. Usually this place is on point... but tonight August 14, 2020 my family and I are disappointed. We waited for over an hour to place my order through the drive thru. When I finally got up to the window, the cashier tells me that will be another wait for the dark meat chicken. The cashier named Areciella could have mentioned that upon placing my order. I was ready to just get what they had and wait at the front door if needed to be but I couldn't get her attention even after honking the horn several times. When she finally handed me my bag everything was cold and squished. I didn't receive my correct order. I understand that they may have busy but they should have monitored and dropped more chicken to prevent losing the 5 customers that left before I got my order. I understand that the price of food has gone up but the quality and the quantity is down as well. Decided to visit my local Golden Chicken, the mash and gravy was cold the gravy for the chicken tenders was cold. So basically if you like cold gravy this is a great place to eat at, and if you happen to go with a friend that is Hispanic, their chicken tenders will be fatter and bigger and yours will be puny and skinny. That's really nice icold mashed potatoes and gravy and small puny chicken tenders, and my friend gets bigger ones fat chicken tenders. This isn't an isolated incident we've visited it several times and it's always the same I get the cold gravy in the puny chicken tenders every single time. It's almost like is there warmer isn't on all the way and they're trying to save on electricity... If you want to get french fries that's going to be cold as well unless you ask for fresh hot fries if not they'll just give you what's sitting underneath the heat lamp limpy fries. There was absolutely no soap in the restroom to wash your hands. And I saw several employees go in there walked in the door so I guess they just weren't washing their hands either. Won't be going back to this location, don't get much for my money that I spend there. read more

The food is good but the service is not the best. I went thru the drive thru and waiting about 15 minutes just to be yelled at by an employee. We're new to Corpus and had never tried this place. We were craving chicken so decided to give it a try... I do not like giving bad reviews but I will never go back there ... the macaroni was horrible, it was very watery and had no flavor, the cole slaw looked like it had been sitting there for awhile and since it was the first time trying it I decided to try 3 different styles, we got the chicken strips, roast and fried ... all I gotta say is that I should stick to what I know... we didn't even finish it... $40 wasted read more

This used to be my favorite place to eat, but my recent visits have been crappy. The staff is rude, their chicken tenders aren't cooked all the way and fall apart, and their rolls are rock hard ugly. I don't know what's up with the staff, if you don't like your job then maybe you need to work somewhere else. I've asked for more condiments and they refused, crappy. I've asked them to cook my tenders longer and they huff like they're bothered and walk away, they're a bunch of young kids that need to be replaced by older mature adults. read more

Their food is perfectly on point however...their customer service needs improvement. I ordered a gallon of tea and the girl at the drive through did not fill it to the top. It looked like a cup or two were missing. I asked her to fill it up please and she gave me a mean look took it back filled it up then almost threw it back at me. She rolled her eyes and said nothing. If you are hungry, have some place to be, or typically don't want to wait 1hour+ for "fast food" then avoid this place. This place consistently just doesn't have their stuff together. Food is on the high end as far as fried chicken fast food goes, but you are definitely getting low end when it comes to customer service and order placement. I've been here only a few times and it's always 45 minutes to an hour plus long wait to get just a basic plate. I go back because I keep telling myself it was probably an isolated issue, but they are just super slow. It's even worse in the pandemic because their lobby is closed so when you're asked to park up front for your order they literally forget about you. Opened at 10:30. Order placed at 10:33. I was told "it will be a 10 minute wait" (for 8 chicken tenders and two orders of fries). Received food 22 minutes later at 10:55. How does deep frying chicken and fries take 22 minutes? Were you butchering the chicken in the back?! read more

Too Many Bad Things At Once... We live about 5 minutes from Golden Chick, and through the years it has been hit or miss. The chicken is either very good when fresh or the grease will stay stuck to the roof of your mouth when it's old and has been sitting there under heat lamps. The rolls have been soft and hot, or just soft and cold. This morning's visit was just too many off-putting things at once, including the way the management handled it. I had to write and share our God-awful experience. They open at 10:30am and we arrived at 11:33am. We ordered a 10-piece legs and thighs, 6 rolls and a 5-piece catfish dinner. The catfish was fine, as catfish goes but they do leave on the back skin and it does taste muddy and gritty as catfish does if you do not cut off that skin. It was hot. It was passable. We know what we get there. I reach into the bag to butter a roll and they are as hard as a cardboard box! No joke. I am sure I could knock someone unconscious with them and use them like a rock if I were so inclined. I closed the bag of rolls and we resided ourselves to no rolls for this meal. Then we pulled out the chicken -hard and cold. It must have been sitting there since they opened, maybe even before that. The first bite was over cooked chicken, the skin was cold and the grease stuck to the roof of my mouth. The grease tasted old which was odd because I asked if the frying oil was fresh and I was assured it was. But it had that "old" taste that reused oil gets. When our family visits we go there and order 6 boxes of legs & thighs, we order tenders and rolls and fries - we are used to high priced tickets. Todays meal was not the most money we have ever spent there but there was enough wrong with our order to talk to the Manager/Carolina "Caro" about all that was wrong with it. Do you know what she said? She didn't offer an apology for the bad food. She did say to bring everything back, the uneaten food we had left and she would remake it. Do you know what upsets me the most? Being taken for granted and for a manager not to try to make things right. Instead they try to be cheap - "Um let's see I will remake 4 pieces of chicken and give you 6 rolls." She's not doing anything for us. We bought that already. They made the bad food. They knowingly gave away bad food and now we have to make another trip over there so they can make good on their mistake to begin with? No. What would it have cost her to just remake the box a 10 dollar box since the whole box was bad? This is what it has cost her - this honest review that I will post in the hopes that someone else will not have to go through what we went through at this Golden Chicken location at SPID and Kostoryz. When we walk away that is it. No looking back but not without a warning of the quality of food you will get, the old frying oil taste you might likely encounter even as the place opens and last but not least the management and people like "Caro" that have no regard for their customers and can't see past an apology for being so bad on every desirable level customers should expect and having that trust being disregarded and broken forever. No complaints with regard to the food (good), or service (decent). However, when you go to place an order at noon on a Mother's Day afternoon & there is no chicken (15minute wait), ordered cole slaw & when I get to the window I'm advised there's not enough cole slaw to fill the order, so I was given what little cole slaw there was & another side. I also, wanted to order the fruit salad & was told they were just making it? Seems to me this is a management issue. Just saying! read more

it's so hard to find good fast food . it really is. i basically gave up on ever finding it, because all the fast food out there is so problematic. You gotta cook your own food.....OR at least check out golden chick. I would imagine that people who grew up with this restaurant must love it. It's very good. I got chicken salad sandwich and was pleased that it wasn't made with way too much mayo like most places. Only 3.99 for sandwich and it had big chunks of chicken, not tiny little cubes. The dirty rice is good but be forewarned : it's a tad bit spicy. i will be going back for sure. read more
