Bagels were fresh, flavorful, not too heavy. Eggs cooked perfectly, good ratios with ingredients in sandwiches. Side of potatoes were awesome. Everything was great. And the wait was not long at all. The place not only smells from the grease trap that they don't clean. They continue to get my order wrong on multiple occasions and refuse to find a solution to help accommodate. They are extremely unprofessional and all they care about is making money not providing customer service. I either received wrong items, or something is burnt, or just not what I ordered at all. And I get told I have to pay for a new order instead of just simply correcting what was wrong. It's sad because it's in a good location and they could really make it a great place if they just were better at servicing their customers and we're more organized with the orders they receive. read more

My friends and I were in town and decided to try this place. That was unfortunate for us. As the older guy was taking our order he was extremely rude.. as if us ordering was inconvenient for him. Once he took our order he went to get my bagel with one glove and scratched his head with the other hand.. so as I'm watching him he proceeds to use the same hand that he scratched his head with to put my bagel in the toaster.. I'm like wtf that's so gross. THEN the other lady took my bagel out of the toaster and starts putting cream cheese on it.. as I looked up at that exact moment my bagel fell on the floor and she picked it up.. I LITERALLY COULD NOT HOLD BACK.. I went to the counter and said excuse did that just fall on the floor?!? I saw and gave it another shot, I got a Taylor ham egg and cheese and it was sooooo delicious so fresh then I saw the back of the menu and omggggg Spanish foood yeessssss so we got empanadas and rice and beans and wow was it so amazing so absolutely fresh and authentic. I will never buy from this place again! If everyone is complaining about the same rude woman, you'd think management would have corrected her by now, right? So I ordered breakfast from them one morning before my wife's appointment. They were a bit late - that's okay. We waited and waited and waited and still nothing. Now my wife had to leave without getting anything to eat. I called them on the phone to see what was going on. The woman on the phone was extremely rude and sounded like I was annoying her. Shouldn't I have been the one annoyed and shouldn't the business be the one trying to reassure the customer? She told me they were on the way so I waited. After an extremely long time I had to call again. Once again, the annoyed woman told me that they were on their way. Not a "sorry for the wait," not a "we apologize, we got held up this morning" (which happens) not even an estimate of the time. Just the same rude, generic answer "it's coming"... she might as well have told me to f-off! After about 2 hours later, the food finally came. Now you would think during a time like this when businesses such as this one are going down, a business would do their best to stay afloat, especially if it meant something as simple as customer service. Call a customer and tell them you're going to be late, give a sincere apology, heck, even offer a complimentary coffee or something, but to become rude and annoyed that a customer doesn't want to wait 2 hours after the anticpated time for a meal is completely unacceptable! I'm giving this a three star instead of 1 because I do like their food on the days that it is made well. The issue I have with Goldberg's is the really unwelcoming feeling I get from the girl that is at the counter. Not only does she not smile, but she seems annoyed by every request and actually rolls her eyes. I try to come here as little as possible because she makes me feel so uncomfortable. Even when I make phone calls to pick up an order, she gets REALLY annoyed if she can't hear you. This is the closest bagel store to my house so I am not going to stop going, but I hope her behavior is corrected. I don't know if she is the manager or something cause she is always there on weekends, but there should be an owner or another manager there to ensure that the staff is at the least, friendly. As for the food. The bacon is always rubbery and they only put two thin slices on the sandwiches. I usually ask for extra meat to deter that from happening. Also, the eggs are almost ALWAYS overcooked. Eggs should not be brown. Other than that, the food is good, you just have to be particular about how you want it cooked, deal with an attitude, then you can go home with a decent meal. read more

I have a biweekly ritual of getting morning bagels for about 10 years of living in NJ. Bagels, like any food, are a personal preference & taste, so no one person can say "these are the best in the world". That said, this is my "go to" place for the past year, I get the same thing every time and the staff remembers it & makes it perfectly. Simply put: the bagels here are awesome. They have enough of the normal bagel variety, with options for coffee, local baked goods like croissants, muffins, etc (really like their chocolate coffee cake sometimes as a treat). Their wait staff is a younger high-school type crowd, but they are good kids. One reviewer said they had experience with them chit-chatting, but I've never had that experience personally. If anything it is the reverse, they seem to like the work environment in the shop and take their job seriously. I don't know who drives it, but the place is also unusually clean, so it points to the employees having pride in their work environment. CONCLUSION: Overall, I feel lucky to have such a great bagel on my commute to work. Good luck with your decision! Bagels are good. I know bagels, I used to work at a bakery. I did not experience any shoddy service whatsoever. The "kids" work pretty good. I personally don't go to a bagel shop expecting Michelin star service. But that's just me. Give this place a chance and you'll be pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food that is produced here. There are other locations as well. They are all really good. Honestly, I am extremely satisfied with this Goldberg's. The food is great and tasty, just like the other stores. However, unlike the other stores, the service is a little bit uncivil. I went in last week during my trip through P. Lakes. There was a fairly short line but the two girls there were aloof. One was busy in back with something and a young blonde haired girl, literally stood there, looked right at me with disinterest and contempt, and continued to play on her phone! There was one tall black haired boy who was busy with people's orders at the grill. I had to wait for him to finish because the other girls obviously had no interest in serving me. The boy genuinely apologized even though the wait was anything but his fault. I will definitely come back because of the pleasant young man and great Hemicuda (Hot cappy ham with 2 eggs, Taylor ham and pepperjack cheese) they offer.
