This is the nearest Gold star location from our home so we decided to drop by and have some lunch. This location is pretty spacious and clean. Our server was very courteous and attentive. We didn't need menus and knew what we wanted to order. I got the chili cheese fries and a cheese coney. My Mr got the Three way and a cheese coney. We didn't have to wait long. Our meal came out right away. As always, the food was super delicious. Love the crinkle fries. The chili and cheese were well balanced. Of course I had to add their signature hot sauce . My Mr enjoyed his meal as well. Like all chili places, they like to enjoy my chili at the location and never get it to go. It always tastes better eating it there. I'll definitely be returning. I know I've said this before, but it deserves repeating, I've never had a bad experience at ANY Gold Star location. This location definitely kept that streak running with great service, tasty food, and a laid back atmosphere. What's not to love about that? My lady and I went on a Saturday for lunch. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and were told to sit anywhere we'd like. Being avid Gold Star fans, we already knew what we were getting; chili cheese fries, two cheese coneys, and a regular 3-way. Our server was very friendly and inviting. As usual, our food came out fast and hot with that classic Gold Star quality and deliciousness. It absolutely hit the spot! Another excellent experience at Gold Star. I could not remember the last time I ate cheese coneys, but it looked so good when i pass the shop and decided on 2 chesse coneys and walked in. Still trying to remember why I I havent eaten chili for years. I get home took one bite and spit it out. I went to visit a friend the other day, and he was in the mood for some Gold Star so off we went.. I am a loyal Gold Star fanatic, so I was pleased as always, and although I had already eaten before going to hang out with him I managed to cram a delicious coney into my stuffed face. NOM. This location was great and the service was super fast. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive too. Also, this is just a heads up for my vegetarian friends, I have tried the veggie chili here and it's surprisingly similar to the meaty version because of the spices. If you have avoided this place thinking there weren't any choices, give the veggie chili sandwiches a shot. Very tasty! My friend told me that across the street was the birthplace of the original Gold Star. I was bummed that I missed out on the original, but this location made me leave with a smile all the same. If you are new to Cincy, please keep in mind that our chili isn't the typical chili that you are most likely used to, but still give it a shot. I'm going to be a pure chili snob here and totally devalue the chili place that my city has come to love. Skyline is only second in my book compared to Gold Star Chili. Growing up in the neighborhood of Mt. Washington, our local Gold Star was located in the building that supplied all of Gold Star's chili to it's other locations. Picture this: Your getting ready for school early in the morning, you get in the car, and just as you get to the main road, a strong smell of chili hits you in the face. You get used to it after time, and it stops making you sick. My theory is that I like Gold Star better than Skyline because I smelled it every morning. Maybe they bewitched the entire neighborhood. Gold Star is like a clone of Skyline. Everything is almost the same, except for the chili. You get oyster crackers, fast service, and all the 3, 4, and 5 ways you could want. Skyline's chili can be very runny and watery and Gold Star has a thicker heartier chili. People who aren't from Cincinnati beware, I haven't met many that can handle our chili. read more

I ordered thru Uber Eats and was very disappointed with what I received. I ordered a small 3 way, side salad, and a drink. I also requested extra crackers. What I got was a small three way, no cheese. Salad with no dressing. No crackers. No drink. I blame part of this on Uber Eats for missing the drink. But what's in the bag is on Gold Star. How do you eat a three way with no cheese? I tried to call and speak with someone and the phone just rang and rang, no answer. It was 2:00 in the afternoon so I'm guessing past the lunch crowd. I have been here numerous times and the service is never consistent. One day the servers will be extremely nice and the next it seems like they do not want o be there or have better things to do than to serve you. These were different servers btw. Talk about rude. First of all I went to order my family dinner this Sunday evening and I was told that they shut the fryer down mid day Sunday which means my kid couldn't get his chili fries. What fast food joint shuts down a fryer weekly during business hours taking their only real.side item plum off the menu. We did however order three cheese coneys and a five way. I asked for hot sauce and crackers and when I checked my order for completeness I realised the girl Ashley had given me two packs of sauce and two crackers. I ordered four menu items. When I asked for more she said there would be a .60 chArge per additional sauce or cracker packet? So everyone had to share two packets? What a joke. This is the worst Gold Star. We ordered 3 chili cheese sandwiches because my husband does not eat pork. They made cheese coneys instead which we did not realize til we got home and he took a bite out of one. He took the food back to the store with the receipt and asked for our money back to which they refused. They said only a manager could give a refund and they couldn't help him. Today he called the store to try to talk to a manager and they told him only a DISTRICT manager could give refunds and that their District Manager is on leave. This is just ridiculous. It's not that we need the 6 dollars back to survive, it's the principle of it all. We placed an order, they gave us the wrong food, and all we wanted was our money back. I have never heard of a place not being able to refund your money when THEY made the mistake. What if it was someone with an allergy and you gave them the wrong food? Ray runs it and knows the regulars, some turnover with the staff. They are consistent with the food and service. I go there often.

We arrived shortly after 9 pm on a Saturday and the place was empty. This was a sign of how bad the service would be. We placed an order and it took over 10 minutes for the waitress to get our drinks. We did get to listen to her and her coworkers discuss prom. It took over 20 minutes to make the order. None of the items were were prepared correctly. The manager/cook offered an angry apology and said that the order she had was what she made. The cook said waitress, who was no where to be found, entered it wrong. The cook was very upset that she had to prepare more food. I told her I would solve her problem and go down the street to Skyline. Her response was "Good, now I don't have make any food." We went to Skyline and had our food prepared as ordered with drinks in less than 7 minutes. Skyline is usually busy but their service is great and deserves a Gold Star! read more

Gold star is usually my preferred chili spot but this location is very different than all the other gold star I usually go to. With 3 people working and NOT A SINGLE CUSTOMER INSIDE, they have lines of cars. Same thing Monday also. I had to wait (by the clock) 8 minuets behind this car who after all this wait only received a small bag of something. I always order one or two cheese conies with hot sauce before putting the cheese, Monday they had no problem OR any other location never had an issue with that. But today, they couldn't even understand what I was talking about. Deana even said,"we are not allowed to do that bc our hot sauce comes in the packets". Always slow and not professional at all. I had to try "authentic" cincinnati chili while I was in town for 2 days for work. This place was closest to my client's office so I came here for lunch. I was confused at first because from the outside it looks like a fast food place but it turns out it's table service (but pay up front, like a diner). Confusion continued when I looked at the menu. The waitress came over before I could read two words but I guess most locals already know what they want so that's understandable. I quickly figured out the "5 way" was the way i make it at home so I ordered the combo with that. The order came out quickly. The iced tea was surprisingly good, the garlic bread terrible. The chili? Just OK I guess. i was expecting more chili for the amount of spaghetti involved, and the whole thing was really pretty bland for what I'm used to. Maybe I should have gotten the sriracha version?
