They had my review removed. I really want to warn people the reviews are not an honest representation of customers. I took 4 items in to be framed. All four have had issues , 2 having to go to someone else to fix them. One she did in a mat color she preferred I guess hoping I wouldn't notice or I would like it better. She did correct it and it cost me time and the hassle driving back and forth as I don't live close. One was cut and framed unevenly and stuck with it because it was a poster I bought on a trip to Denmark so it was a special item to me. The other two, the pieces keep falling out of place and one not sealed properly so moisture gets in somehow and has warped my hand screen print. To say I am disappointed is an understatement and to then to have my review removed was another slap in the face. My only recourse is to warn people because trying to deal with the owner was awful. Luckily I found another framer closer to my home who has done a wonderful job correcting the work but having to pay twice isn't what I signed up for. I also don't appreciate the aggressive response to my prior review before it being taken down like I am some bad guy. I was a customer who put my faith in a business and you let me down, an apology at any point could have gone a long way. I am not here to ruin a business but to let people know proceed with caution, there seems to be plenty of happy customers but I was not fortunate to be one of them. read more

Without asking me first, they cut and trimmed my painting on paper to make it fit into their frame. I saw what they did when I got my painting reframed. Also the glass was not high enough so it was pressing on my painting. So disrespectful and poor craftsmanship. read more

Hidden gem For Sure! The owner, Linda, is so nice and is definitely an expert on framing needs. I purchased some canvases not knowing they would not be mounted. They came rolled up in a tube so I went to Gold Leaf Framing. I was hoping to get them mounted but Linda advised me that would not be a good idea as I would lose too much of the canvas / picture doing that. She suggested I frame them to preserve as much image real estate as possible. I didn't want to spend a lot of money so she framed them in the basic house frame. Is framing inexpensive? NO! But to have an expert frame and make sure it is done correctly and safely so as not to damage your prints/canvases, that's what you pay for. The framing cost way more than what I paid for the canvas prints but it was worth it as they look absolutely beautiful! Side note: I spray painted the frames as they were dark brown and I really wanted the frames to match the rest of that house metal, plus the metallic color brings out the vivid colors & imagery. Why didn't I get them framed with this color in the first place? Because that would have cost more and I just wanted them basic framed so I could color them the way I wanted. Linda did a great job keeping as much of the image as possible! I'm so glad I had them framed by her. Highly recommend if you need your artwork framed professionally. read more

Getting my painting framed last minute for a Laguna Beach gallery was nothing short of a miracle. I come in with a small square canvas (an odd uncommon size) and request a frame job to beat a same day deadline! I have an hour. I was asking the impossible of the owner "Linda." She knew it. I knew it. She had just an hour and it was not going to be a custom fitting (that I should have gotten done long ago), it was going to be an INNOVATIVE how do we do this task. Linda rifled through her frames looking for the odd size (square) and found one larger frame (too big). I did not like the color, so we kept looking. Meanwhile, the hour is bearing down on me for a drop off in Laguna Beach at a gallery. Stupid me for waiting last minute. Not to worry though, as Linda was more than helpful and calming in my crazed mess. We found a frame (larger than the canvas) and matting. It would be a new way of framing with the canvas out (not in)....huh? But Linda had a vision and solution to my problem. God bless her! She got to work to make this work and beat my deadline (I do not recommend last minute orders within an hour's time). We had some glitches along the way, but in the end, I got my painting framed and hit the freeway to beat the "drop off" deadline at the gallery by 12 noon. I cannot say enough about Linda, her expertise, her patience, her strong guidance as I was losing my mind! And the price? VERY VERY reasonable!!! OMG! I paid cash. Back in the mid-fifties, my dad worked part-time at Mission Florists in San Diego. I believe that this painting was part of a mural that had been hanging in the florist shop for several years. Eventually the florists decided to get rid of the mural and my dad obtained it. The artist and date are unknown. The mural once depicted several Southern California Indian maidens lining up to lay flowers at the feet of a presumed Indian princess. The Princess was at the center of the mural and she was bookended by two pairs of maidens approaching from either side. After my dad obtained the painting, he divided it into three parts and had them framed. Eventually the left panel and central panel disappeared. Early this year I decided that I wanted to have it restored and framed because I always loved it. I just had the absolute best experience at this store today. I needed to reframe a watercolor with a simple frame and matte. I went to Aaron Brothers and Michaels first, thinking I would find what I was looking for since it was so simple. The selection at those stores was surprisingly limited and they did not have what I was looking for. Then I went to get a massage next door and found my next move. I googled "frame store" in Westminster and this place came up. I was shocked at the selection. It is vast. They had multiple options of exactly what I was looking for. The owner , Linda was amazing and she helped me put together a great new custom frame and matte at a great price. I cannot get over what a good experience I had at "Gold Leaf Framing & Restoration. On Thursday, May 6, I gave this place a call as suggested by the Art Supply Warehouse on Westminster. I needed a wire to the back of my painting. The owner said they do this and I asked how much? FREE! What? Free? So, I went down to this spot on Westminster BLVD in a strip mall and found a very friendly, affable, genuine woman (owner) called Linda there to help me out. My painting had been accepted in an art gallery in Laguna Beach and I wanted it done right. I came to the right place! She did better than I thought and shared some info on framing. I very rarely write more than one review about a business. But Gold Leaf Framing & Restoration did such a great job since my last review I felt it made sense to write a new review. Since the 5 star review I gave to Gold Leaf Framing & Restoration in February I've taken three more pieces to Linda. One was an antique cabinet carved from a single tree trunk and two fine ink drawings that had sustained damage from my wife and I's moves from Asia to Ohio to California. With all three pieces she did an outstanding job. The cabinet, already a beautiful piece, has been completely restored after the damage it had sustained to a degree that I didn't think was possible. The simple, elegant way that she framed the drawings brought out the best in them. Plus, she did a wonderful job of cleaning up the damage from the moves that we had made. As mentioned in my previous review, I live an hour away from Gold Leaf Framing & Restoration yet happily make the drive because she is the best. True, talented, passionate craftspeople are very rare.
