Stopped by while waiting for my flight and it did not disappoint. The service was fast and they gave me plenty of food.

This is my new go to for quick airport food while navigating through Chicago. For $9 i got this massive dog with all the fixings. Im from NC and they dont do dogs like this down here. I normally wouldnt get a hot dog with all the toppings this had, but since I was in Chicago I had to try it Chicago style and was very glad I did. It had a great crunch and was full of flavor. I wouldnt recommend standing or eating this over anything but a table since it is juicy with the peppers and pickle. Staff were great even despite me wearing my Packers tee. I enjoyed the banter since it was game day for the two teams.

Can't go wrong with a pretty authentic Chicago dog, with all the toppings, for $9. Good flavor and crunch made it really satisfying.

Cheese fries in terminal five

This is THE place to eat your feelings in Terminal 5. I myself inhaled an order of cheese fries while stressed out about a flight delay! They were fresh, tasty, and crisp, with ample cheese. The Chicago style polish my BF grabbed here was also great, and among the better dogs we had over our entire trip, shockingly. But the real proof that this place rocks is that it's the only airport food stand that had a line snaking down the hall. The people have spoken, and they prefer Gold Coast Dogs!

Sure it's an airport and I wouldn't suggest anyone to stop by a NY/NJ airport pizza joint to find authentic slices, but this is a dog, grilled at that, and known in Chicago, I guess, according to my YELP research. To be honest with you, there was extreme bias stacked up against anything Chicago does that NY/NJ cooks up, in my book, pizza, steak, and especially dogs, which Jersey does the best. Now, it's more of trying Vienna beef that interested me more than the Chicago style itself. The dog was very refreshing. I love the heat from the dog and crispy coldness of the veggies. I can see why the Second City enjoys these treats. I'm not a pickle dude, so the huge dill and relish was surprisingly well meshed together. The beef was good, but I think it's the combination itself that was very delicious.

Gold Coast Dogs at International Terminal 5

Opening in 1993, the International Terminal 5 at O'Hare Airport was designed by Ralph Johnson of the estimable architecture firm Perkins and Will. Its external appearance may not wow you, but its gentle curving silhouette and cool white surfaces create a soothing yet soaring streamlined look. The interior signage could be better though. There are Chicago-style food outlets here that are open all night, such as Gold Coast Dogs.

The flavors made me say I'd stop again. The price, on the other hand, is offensive. I ordered the char dog Chicago style. It looks like they split a hot dog and threw it on the grill. Good enough for me. It tasted good but for the price of a char dog and a juice, I could have eaten a meal and Chilli's and had food left over. On my next visit, I decided to try the Italian beef. There was a sign that offered gyros but they seemed more proud of the Italian beef. I'd never tried it but I'd heard it was a Chicago staple. He asked if I wanted it Chicago style and I answered, "Of course." He asked if I wanted it dipped. "In what?" I asked looking as ignorant as I was about the matter. I told him to go for it after he explained they could dip it in "the stuff the meat was in". Meat juice sounded good to me! This thing smelled horrible to my nose, like nothing I'd ever smelled. I opened it and it looked like chitterlings on a bun! Someone please tell me that's not what I ate. I was a little hungry and a lot brave so I closed my eyes and put it in my mouth. It was difficult but the more I chewed, the more I liked it. It was a better value than the char dog and had a whole lot more flavor. Contrary to what my nose had been telling me, I'm a fan of very strong flavors and this brought it. The taste resembled Italian sausage but not as good and a lot bolder. When it's busy, it is VERY confusing. Make sure you wait at the "order here" sign and make someone take your order before walking over to the only manned station and paying your money. I watched at least 5 people pay and wait only to find out that their food order had never been placed. They also sell fancy potato chips (sweet potato, kettle cooked, sea salt, New York Cheddar) and Thatcher's popcorn. Fruit cups, salads, and juices are available on the other side. For that though, I'd go to Starbucks. Starbucks is cheaper. Imagine that!

LOL ... Chicagoans
Berta J.

The burger was good, but they don't have listed that Chicago ='s automatic mustard on every hot dog & hamburger without asking you and ketchup & mayonnaise is blasphemy so I wasn't aware they'd put mustard on my burger til it was too late. I am not a mustard fan on burgers. I scraped it off & ate what I could. The burger flavor was good & the fries were not over salted & not overly oily. A good airport place to grab a bite.

Get the Char Brat. Skip the relish. It's a strange bright green that makes me wonder if it's been exposed to radiation.

Rick Bayless has built himself a restaurant w/award winning restaurants like Frontera Grill & Topolobambo. The first time I got food from Tortas Frontera to take on the plane as it was a domestic flight that wasn't serving food so I thought I would grab a Cubaba Clasica & take it on the plane, BIG MISTAKE. This sandwich is meant to be eaten on the spot & not later When I went back the second time on 02/12/25 I ordered the same Cubana Clasica - Carnitas, smoked pork lion, bacon, jack cheese, chipotle mustard & pickled onions. This time I ate it before boarding the plane. It was delicious & meant to be eaten right away When ordering it's better eaten right away. I learned my lesson the hard way taking it on the plane instead of eating it right away. There are three Tortas Frontera locations at O'Hare International Airport (ORD), located in Terminals 1, 3, and 5. Founded by Chef Rick Bayless, these popular, high-quality sandwich spots are found at the following locations within the secure area:Terminal 1: Near Gate B10/B11Terminal 3: Near Gate K4Terminal 5: Near Gate M18

I am confident of that. If it weren't in a ticketed area, I would consider running out here occasionally just for a torta. Most of the time, we fly in the morning and find ourselves planning to arrive a little early to ensure we have time to enjoy a breakfast torta. The avocado, egg, and rajas is my go to, but the chorizo is excellent too. Definitely slather the torta with that green salsa/chimichurri that comes with it. Tons of flavor. Superior black coffee here too. They serve Dark Matter coffee, and they're brewing it perfectly. I used to run to the Intelligentsia over at Concourse C for coffee, but I realized a while ago that I dont need to. My torta was $14.30 this morning. You will spend that on a prepackaged tray of cheese and crackers at Hudson News and be sad all day. This place is still an excellent value. The service is always incredibly nice and efficient. If you have time, grab a table or seat at the bar. Just walk past the line for takeout and let them know at the bar that you want to dine in. Great guacamole with fresh chips too. Bonus that the little TV in the corner is always playing Rick Bayless' cooking show. His cadence is always so soothing.

Its small line was what lured me in along with the craving for an order of french fries to obtain some nutrients before my flight. I needed a moment to figure out what I wanted between either french fries, or a fish sandwich. Those tend to be my two choices I order while visiting McDonald's along with either of their smoothies on the menu. The employee was patient with me and once ready, I ended up ordering a medium mango pineapple smoothie, along with medium french fries. I was far from disappointed with the medium french fries nor with the mango pineapple smoothie ordered. Both were fresh and satisfied my hunger at that moment prior to my outbound flight. All in all, a pleasant ordering experience with this McDonald' location. I came here mainly for the convenience and to be honest, had my expectations set pretty low. I was promptly seated. The dining area is a lot more empty, but the bar was much more lively. They have a pretty robust drink menu, but funnily enough do not have any hazy IPAs. I ordered a Stella Artois (draft) and a small was already $12.5, which was wayyy overpriced for me, But again, this is the type of expense I expected to pull for my laziness since I already expected everything here will be overpriced. I ordered the fish and chips with steak fries. To my surprise, their fish was actually very well cooked! The batter was very thin, which I like, and the fish was very fresh. I was slightly annoyed by the fact that they cut off the end of my lemon, so when I squeezed my lemon, the lemon juice squirted both ways making a small mess over my table. The steak fries were kinda dry, but nothing a little ketchup can't fix. However again, the price was kinda ridiculous. The fish and chip was $29. Overall with tips, I spent $50 for the entire meal. Overall, I think if you are short on time and don't have the chance to explore Chicago, then you are kinda stuck choosing this place since it is conveniently located within the hotel itself. But don't expect the price to justify the quality of the food since everything here is expectedly overpriced. The food I had was good, not amazing, and so definitely did not deserve that price tag.
