i'm not sure what's with the shitty reviews and 1 star reviews? because you're at the store at 7:56 pm when they close at 8? i mean if you worked retail and i customer came in at 7:50, you would be pissed too because you know they're gonna say "just one thing" and end up browsing. That's what most of the 1 star reviews are or just people trying to return items that are non-refundable and stated at the register on a big ass sign. I've come to this place for about two years and i've had my fair share of beauty supplies that follow you but gold 7 has never followed me. They probably just watch from the camera room lol. Regardless, when i need help, they help, but they're pretty much always on the floor stocking stuff so you kinda have to look around on the ground because that's usually where they are The makeup selection isn't the best but the hair selection for synthetic and crochet braiding, marley twists, butterfly twists, etc; is great. They also have a great deal on braiding hair always. I usually hate going to beauty supplies and have to mentally prepare myself to be profiled and stalked but they mind their business. The customer service was just okay -- not bad, but not especially welcoming either. I haven't bought a wig in years and usually try to avoid beauty supply stores unless I run out of time to order online. One thing to know is that you have to purchase a wig cap before trying on wigs, and customers are limited to trying on only three wigs. The staff also monitors customers very closely throughout the store, and there are photos of shoplifters displayed near the entrance, which can make the shopping experience feel a little uncomfortable. They have a huge selection of products, however, don't take to long looking or you'll be stared down as if you're trying to steal this garbage. The owner as well as the employees are beyond rude! I've been shopping at Gold 7 Beauty Supply since around 2012. The store is always well stocked and has almost everything I like. It has been my go-to beauty supply for years. However, I can no longer ignore the poor customer service from the lady who works there. On multiple occasions, she has been rude, dismissive, and unfriendly. Today was especially disappointing. I actually tried to be kind and chat with her while smiling, just asking how she was doing, but instead she responded in a very rude and irritated way. I honestly don't understand why someone who clearly doesn't want to engage with customers is working in customer service. I don't know if she is being forced to work there, but whatever the reason, her attitude makes customers feel unwelcome. To be fair, the gentleman who works there is always polite, helpful, and professional, and I appreciate that. Unfortunately, the lady's behavior completely overshadows that good experience. I am not from this area, however I came In to get something for my hair. I found what I needed and left, once I was down the street I realized I needed something different. The product was the exactly like the product I had bought recently. So I turned around to exchange it, I was told about the exchange policy. I let them know I literally just walked out. She said I could exchange it just this once. I said okay, when I walked to the back to find what I needed the skinny short Chinese man kept screaming we have one min to close! Flicking on and off the lights when it was just me and another lady. I basically was rushed! So I just decided to leave because I felt my anger boiling. So I walk to the front and the lady said you ready. I said no because he keeps yelling and rushing us! So the other lady said we can do a store credit and tried to give me the receipt. I told her I am not from around the area. (This is my second time saying this) I gave her back the store credit and she pushed the product I came to return back and handed a bag saying "You can come back in on Monday to talk ti the manager" then they started packing up. (Once again I'm not from the area). What Customer Service?? It would take absolutely nothing to let the last two people get what they needed then close up. Customer service is non existent, especially if you are African American. You will not be greeted upon entry. In fact, they're going to look you DEAD in your face and look the other way. You will be followed around the store and they will try to do it as discreetly as possible. You can appear to be the most polished black woman, it does not matter. Even upon checking out, nothing will be said to you. They have absolutely no remorse for how they treat you, because they know black women will continue to patronize their business, and this saddens me so much. I visited a few months back for virgin extensions for a quick hairstyle I was getting. I purchased 22 inch hair only to get home and it was 16 inches. I took the hair back to the store with a literal ruler and showed them how they scammed me and they couldn't have cared less. That was my last time going there. I picked up some clip ins from this location late Monday it was the wrong color so I came back Camila told me I could exchange it for a braiding hair or crochet hair. I then took 35 minutes to pick out the braiding hair when I finally get to the register, she then tells me she was trying to say those are the only things I exchange for when I left my hair up there and everything . She then proceeds to tell me to talk to the manager, which I don't know why, because he didn't do anything or even act like you cared when I was talking to him, he was checking his watch twice. Generally speaking Gold 7 serves its purpose. I've bought a couple of half wigs from them for special occasions and for a last minute/quick hairstyle. The wigs have lasted for quite some time due to maintenance and not wearing them daily. As far as pricing goes, they are overcharging a bit but then again how would they meet the bottom line. I normally find a wig I like then compare pricing online from other vendors. If the difference is quite large I won't buy it & just order online which is pretty much what I do now. For the most part I just come to see the wig in-person to decide it I like it or not before ordering. Plus now they charge $1 for a wig cap to try on the wigs. I'm not purchasing so I just disregard it. Customer service wise, they greet you upon entering & are eager to help you find something but per usual it always seems like their following you (more so in the wig section). I went into the beauty supply store this afternoon. Upon entering the store there is a table with a sign requiring that you wear a mask AND the cheap gloves that they provide. The gloves were the serving type that were hard to separate so that you can put them on. They are also HUGE and hard to keep on. I walked around the store for a minute before I decided that I was OFFENDED. I understand COVID and the need to be safe, however, with this being an establishment that is predominantly patronized by minorities, it just seemed wrong. NOT one other establishment, grocery store, retail store, restaurant or gym requires a mask AND GLOVES. Nor is any ASIAN required to do this outside of their environment. It is a FACT that Asian people get rich off of the minority, in the minority community, but care nothing about us. And there is absolutely zero respect for the Black person doing business with them, YET we continue to buy and make them richer. Just go the hood. To add insult to injury, now that they are being discriminated against, much like we are, the understanding love and compassion is supposed to flow freely and YET they continue to disrespect and dehumanize the very people that pay there bill. When the ladies at checkout noticed the kinda gesture from a black woman to a white woman the Asian woman became extremely rude and raised the price almost $40. Just to then say no discounts on this item. It was a regularly priced item that was not a restricted item and per there policy did qualify for a discount. They have an incredible selection and I recommended it to a coworker from Queens and she's just as pleased. Recently moved from Bay Area California where black hair care products/large beauty supply stores like this are scarce. Very excited and dropped almost $400 on so many hair care items. I was about to do hair on Friday night and forgot one thing. I looked at the time and rushed over. I made it there at 8 pm exactly. One of the owners was at the door and refused to even open it just stood at the door making no gestures. So, I get it as the person's review above stated. They're vultures who capitalize off of the minority community. Our money is good as long as we follow stringent rules and policies in their store. Outside of that, forget about it. No compassion or grace, just no. And the few stragglers coming out of the store, they literally cut off the lights. Like do you close the doors at 8 or so you close and go home. As I sat there looking for another store, I saw the workers and owners leaving at 8:10. How? So, even if you make it by 7:59 or 7:55 expect a rushed experience if you can even get in for one item! Please, please frequent other beauty supply stores for your needs. This place has HORRIBLE customer service. And they DEFINITELY follow you around the store! I had a huge basket and they followed me. This used to be my go to place For their variety of wigs and reasonable prices. After going in today my opinion is a complete opposite! I was disgusted. They have jacked up heir prices to the point where it should be considered usory! Not a single wig in the house for less than $50! The wigs I had brought previously for 49.99 now $70! They are literally selling $30 wigs for $50+ I will NEVER shop here again! Some nerve they have to try to take advantage of their clientele. There's a site called hairstopandshop.com that have the exact same wigs for literally half the price and is black owned, also hairsisters.com. I been here before and also the location on forest lane .....same as usual but I go to this one because it's closer to my home and lets face it ......there are no other places that cater to african american hair as much..... This store is just kind of like a Disney World of sorts for the girlie girl beauty junkie. I love that it's not overpriced stuff, just your basic beauty goodies and even some fragrances/oils and incense. I love coming here for shampoo/conditioner and random knick knacks. Even costume jewelry, makeup and little gifts for friends. Customer service, as mentioned here in other reviews is definitely a little off but I don't really come in with any high expectations in that arena. But they do stay fully stocked with some good beauty products especially for ethnic type hair. There's also hair extensions and such if that is your fancy. read more

Ladies, this is THE mecca for of your hair needs! What they offer is TONS of HAIR. No joke. Hair extensions, wigs, hair dye, clips, accessories, straighteners, and hair maitenance no matter the type. When you walk in it smells pretty strong of hair chemicals. It's probably because there is a hair salon quietly placed in the corner for customers. On both ends of the store are lots of busts of plastic heads adorning wigs of different styles. It's scary to take in at first. The prices seem reasonably priced. I'm not familiar with the costs of hair extensions. But I was told that real hair (yes, real) is more expensive. Be sure to ask one of the Korean owners. Nice as they are, they aren't the talking type unless you ask them a question. The aisles are really overwhelming and even though they clearly label the aisles with banners, its purpose is defeated by the content they refer to. All the hair products blend together, so its kind of hard to pick the best one for you. I suggest a good friend and a good mirror. read more

After their credit card machine kept reporting that my card was unsuccessful I ended up paying cash for my items. Once I left to check my account, it showed that I was charged five times when I only put in my pin number twice. This seemed very suspicious to me and odd, so I returned back and was told that I needed to take that up with my bank. Instead of two charges of $21, there were five charges of $21 plus tax. So my card was charged over $100, although their machine stated that it was a mistake. I would never use my card there again, and I will never shop there again. I'm very confused on the reviews on poor customer service to African Americans and how the workers are racist? I have never experienced that there. Bored and have NOTHING to do? Grab a girlfriend and head to this place for some wig shoppin'! My friend and I went here yesterday and we had a blast. They have a zillion different hairstyles and although this may seem like an awkward-borderline-weird thing to go do, it was really fun. I think we spent 2 whole hours there, just in the wig department alone. You do have to buy a wig cap (aka pantyhose for your head) prior to trying anything on - it's only a dollar though and you can try on up to 5 different wigs. If you go when they're busy, you may or may not be able to try on 30+ wigs w/o them noticing. Or maybe they really don't care? Now, my only concern is getting head lice so as long as that doesn't pop up in the next few days, I'll totally go back here someday for another round! Do it! The selection for makeup is decent and so are the lashes however it's not massive so come with an open mind for what you're looking for in terms of that. The employees of the store aren't the most friendly of folks but they're not terrible some of these reviews are kind of being extra (no offense ). Definitely would recommend knowing what you want before going In and the brands that you are looking for as the sales people do not really give much of any suggestions at all. This place has decent prices and if you're looking for those handy LA GIRL pro concealers they sell them here for $3.99 rather than the standard $4-5 that they are sold for online! They do sell some name brand products such as NYX but I'd avoid those as they do tend to hike up the prices for those which can be found in the NYX store for almost $1-2 cheaper as a whole check this place out if you're looking for good hair masks, cheap lashes, a good quality gloss, or even a wig for a fun occasion (ngl though long term use of those wigs not likely don't really recommend spending a whole lot on those) read more
