On top of that, they have all sorts of the cutest little gifts and bowls and pastas and pesto's and dips. It's and adorable store. The staff and owners are very knowledgeable open and friendly. They give tips for every bottle on how to use it and what to use it on the website has a variety of recipes as well. They also host events such as wine tasting wine pairings etc. It is now my go to place for balsamic vinegar and olive oil. The balsamic vinegar I use straight on my salads at times I'll mix it with an olive oil for a flavor-able combination. They're both are great additions to my cooking.

They truly have some of the best cupcakes you'll find: perfectly moist, full of flavor, and consistently delicious. I've also never had a bad experience here. The staff is always incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful, which makes the visit even better. On our most recent stop, we picked up a dozen cupcakes. Hostess with the Mostess is my go-to favorite every time and never disappoints. They also had an eggnog cupcake of the day, and wow, it was so good. My husband is very hard to impress when it comes to baked goods, and even he said we have to go back. Safe to say, everyone left happy! Highly recommend stopping in if you're nearby -- it's always worth it.

As someone who is a part of the LGBTQ community, I felt unsafe. It's sad that a local business would choose to express political views over their customers. Also, there were DOZENS of pies left (it was pretty late in the evening) so I can only assume they aren't great. Needless to say, I will not be returning and I do not recommend this place to anyone.

Any of the flavors of their danishes are a safe bet too, as they're seriously delicious, and we crave them often. We've tried a couple of their lunch options and some other pastries and would probably pass on those next time. Their scones tend to be on the dry side. Their coffee is good, though they don't offer many specialty flavor options if that's what you're looking for. We're still mourning two of our all-time favorites that have been discontinued: the homemade donuts every Sunday and the mushroom toast. Birchwood, please bring them back!

I came here as part of the RI FOOD FLIGHTS #bestscoopshopri event. Another super hot day meant ice…read morecream was needed, so I went to this RI icon. They've been churning out ice cream (pun intended) for almost 50 years. Today was my first time going inside the shop. In past times, I had ordered at the window. The inside is small but packs in a lot! Candy and other treats line the walls, a beautiful display of fudge and hand dipped chocolate goodies right in front of you. The young ladies at the counter were very nice, and accommodated my request for their favorite. For this shop, I was told the cookie butter flavor was everyone's current #1. I also got some apple flavored crocodile gummies and I was on my way. The cookie butter surprised me. I expected it to be very sweet, but instead the ice cream had some lovely deep caramel notes from the cookie butter and the big chunks of speculoos cookies were soft and easy to eat without being overwhelmed by sugar. Once again another great trip to the Ice Cream Machine and a reminder to not wait so long before I visit again.

Most recently, I tried their pumpkin ice cream and it did not disappoint! You can get ice cream one of several ways. The ones I remember off the top of my head can be bought either as a packed pint, in cups, several varieties of cones, sundaes, banana splits, cookie sandwiches, and floats. Lots of toppings and sauces to choose from as well. Staff is friendly and service is pretty quick. It does get quite busy here at times, and the parking lot is tiny, which means you might have to go across the street to park. While that's not a big deal for most people, being handicapped, it's a big downside for me, especially since you'd need to cross a very high-traffic street. This is why I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5. They do have an inside area where you can order as well, but you cannot sit/dine inside. There are a few picnic tables outside that you can use, but they also fill up quickly. Inside, you can also buy things like ice cream cakes, fudge, candy and other treats. It's a little bit of a trek for me, but I will definitely be swinging by anytime. I am in the area. Definitely worth checking out!
