This restaurant has a real under the sea type vibe. They even had a stage for band performances which I'm sure further enhances the mood. With that being said the food is a tale of two stories. The sheer number of "appealing" options on the menu is a treat to behold. However, me and my significant other got jerk chicken plate and a chicken and sausage pasta. The jerk chicken was good but the sauce was more tasty than the actual meat 2/5. The Mac and cheese was good 3/5 and the collard greens could've used more seasoning 1/5. The chicken and sausage pasta was terrible 1/5 as it was unseasoned and the sauce tasted bad. I think I may have ordered the wrong a bad dish so I don't want the one bad dish I had to reflect poorly on the many other tasty options they seem to have. The highlight of the meal was the biscuit as it is a butter soaked biscuit that was the best part of the meal 5/5. read more

The food was great but the service was terrible. arrived at 5:30 didn't get our order in until 6:45. ordered appetizers and they came out the same time as our meal. The only bright spot was the bartender. she actually came out and finally took our order. the server that was supposed to take care of us only dropped off silverware and said he would be back but never came back. it really felt racially charged since we were the only Caucasian group in the restaurant. read more

I do not know why it took me so long to eat at Godfrey's. My friend had the rich boy and it was fabulous. I ordered ox tails, coconut rice, yams and cornbread. I cannot quit thinking about that meal. There are no words to describe how good that food tasted. I woke up thinking about that cornbread. Go there. read more

The worst experience I have ever encountered I walked in and was seated and wasn't asked about drinks or anything I sat around for 20 minutes watching other people come and go and be served and I still sat there I asked a waitress and she said she would go get my waiter and they sat there and talked and still didn't not serve me I am not one to get upset or leave a place of business but it is ridiculous to have me sitting for 20 minutes without anything I have never felt so belittled in my life and I live in Memphis came there because heard it was good and didn't even get the chance to try it I hope they fix this issue or their business will fail read more

Oh my goodness! I visited Godfreys on Sunday for the first time with a few of my sorority sisters and it DID NOT disappoint. The food was absolutely phenomenal. Our server was new I think and was so gracious and patient despite them being really busy. We didn't feel rushed and our food was most definitely made with love. The portion sizes match the prices and we all wanted to kiss the cook before we hit the road back to our respective homes. I am checking my calendar to see when I will be near the area so I can visit again. Please don't ever close and don't change a thing. 10 out of 10 stars would HIGHLY RECOMMEND! read more

The Turkey Wings, Mac and cheese, cabbage, and Good Vibrations Drink were a hit!!!!!!

It was amazing!! Can't wait to go back. Service was a little slow, but not ridiculous. I want to go back and try like 5 other things on the menu and to try a cocktail cause those looked really tasty as well! read more

I have been to this location a couple times and the Godfrey's North location once. I really love this place. I went again this weekend and got the jerked baked chicken, red beans and rice (with sausage) and sweet yams. The flavors were so good! I was like I would eat Godfrey's every week! Hopefully I'm able to come back soon. read more

Overrated bad with the customers take to long with the food waiter kept the change manager did nothing about my refund business ran horrible

Incredible sandwiches! Truly each sandwich is a work of art. Deliciously made and really good ingredients. A joy!

Visited Godfrey's Flagship restaurant last night and everything was amazing. Our server Summer was an absolute delight with a wonderful smile the entire time. The food was really good. We had the sticky ribs with Mac n cheese, mixed greens and the Caribbean rice and beans with oxtail gravy. We also had oxtails with Caribbean rice and beans with extra gravy and mixed greens with the sweet cornbread. The drinks were the Bob Marley, which is different than the Bob Marley's that I'm used to in Jamaica. It was good but sweeter than I expected. We also had the frozen Mango Daiquiri. Yes, they don't skip the alcohol. You get what you pay for from the bar. I highly recommend this place. It's spacious and the tables aren't on top of each other so you don't feel overly crowded. read more

This was a pretty bad experience, a restaurant that was spoken highly of from my peers and family left me very disappointed. Hostess continued to change our sitting time. Went from being seated in 20 minutes which turned out to be 45 minutes. Took an hour and half for the food to come out, as we sat and watched other people come in and eat right away. Also after an hour and half of waiting the waiters came out and requested that I order something else because they were out of turkey wings and did not extend an apology. The general manager had a terrible attitude and did not try to work with us on our terrible experience. Instead of owning up to the bad service and adjusting the bill she offered a free meal. The food maybe good at this restaurant but the poorly ran staff and inconsideration of this restaurant will never have my services again. The customer is always wrong at this restaurant. read more

Once we got to Godfreys, the food was good unfortunately there were some sides they didn't have so we had to settle for what they had, the food came out and my wife did not like the macaroni and the mixed veggies which were good came so late, the service was ok but I believe the waitress couldve been more of a service, I asked for more water and she got it when we were getting ready to leave, The ambiance was excellent, the music was awesome. Overall the oxtails, yams and macaroni for me was off the the chain the oxtails came off the bone, yum! the yams were awesome, unfortunately for my wife she was very disappointed with the food and the service. we probably won't be back any time soon. read more

It was a horrible experience. I went with two friends. We left before we even ordered. The waitress waited until after the time when they only offered a limited menu of their most expensive items to ask us what we wanted. We never got the drinks we ordered when we first sat time and a manager tried to force us to move to a different table so that he could other people who preferred that area. Would not recommend. read more

This has always been a poorly ran establishment. I continued to support them because the food is delicious, but the management sucks!!!!! There are always long wait times and on Valentines Day 2024 they ran out of food by 8pm. Why were they not prepared??? We waited 2 hours just for the hostess to tell us it would be best to go eat somewhere because they only hand a handful of food left. Where did they expect us to go after 8pm on freaking Valentines Day!!!! read more

the food here was amazing, the flavor was on point and the portion sizes were huge. i was stuffed! the restaurant is not really "aesthetic" but the food and flavor make up for this aspect. i went on a Saturday night and there was a live band performing for which they add a $5 add on fee to everyone's ticket which i thought was crazy. they were out of a lot of things including food and drinks which was a bummer. our server was really sweet though, she did a great job! read more

Very poor service and management. Ordered Togo for one person at 2:26pm. Was told to "wait 15- 20 minutes then head this way." Arrived at 3:33pm. It is now 3:50pm and I am still waiting on my order. I was asked to sit at a table and wait. It has been exactly and hour and 30 minutes and my order "has been located and it's missing an item. We're dropping it now." The item was 3 spring rolls. After speaking with server, apparently there was no management available to speak with. And there was mismanagement regarding scheduling per server. Awful. read more

The service was the worst (hour to get seated, 1/2 hour to get server, then 1 hour+ to get terrible food with a attitude) and that's in light of the sad sad sad food. It was hardly island-inspired and beyond Americanized. Bland, watered down and no love in the food. Soggy burgers with cherry tomatoes lol when they forget the dressing, rice no flavor. Music was good lol (ol school RnB etc) but we were expecting island vibes. Vibe was off with several pissed off or frowning patrons around us for various service/food reasons. read more

We stopped for lunch at this Jamaican restaurant when we drove thru Mississippi. What a great find. I had curry chicken with rice which was outstanding. My wife had catfish and fried okra which she thought was some of the best she had. The catfish coating was so tasty. We both had cornbread that was enhanced by some yam side that the owner gave us to try. Outstanding!! Then she gave us a side of collard greens to put on the cornbread- equally good and enhanced the taste. Very friendly owners. Great find read more

This place is very unreliable. May be open may not... their hours lie...call before you go.. unprofessional

Go for lunch because it's pricey here. The food was good and everything was ok EXCEPT even in 5 star restaurants I've been in I've never been charge $4.00 for ONE piece of plain toast. Godfreys dropped the ball overcharging for bread so I probably won't ever return. read more

The service was terrible. We were sat down and no one acknowledged us in the 15 minutes that we sat at the table. They weren't busy at all. Someone who was seated after us even got their order taken. Tripadvisor Dear Ann W)) The resturant showed no professionalism and accountability for their actions at their business. I was trying to order takeout at their business on April 29, 2023. I called the restaurant at 1:40 p.m., 1:45 p.m., 1:50 p.m. and 1:55 p.m. no answer the phone just rang, rang and rang. The employees never did answer the call or return a call. The technology we have now everyone has caller ID. I tried to call three times from home and one time from my cell phone while in route to the restaurant. I arrived at the restaurant at 1:15 p.m. and placed my order at 1:20 p.m. They were busy and waiting to seat customers and graduation parties. There was no one at the counter taking takeout orders. I gave the hostess my order and cellphone number to call me once the order was ready. I waited in my car for an hour, and the hostess had not called to say anything. So, I went back to the restaurant and asked about my order. She said that it was not ready, so another customer came into the restaurant for takeout. She is gone within five minutes because she was able to place an order over the phone. Please keep in mind that if someone had answered the phone earlier, all of this could have been avoided. So, the hostess came and checked on me, and gave me an update about the order. She tells me they are about to start on my pasta order. I asked her to get a manager about the wait time for my order. I requested a refund for the pasta. The manager passed by me twice and when she did arrive to the takeout counter. She requested a payment but had not given me my first receipt from the original order. She did not apologize for the lateness, inconvenience, and inconsistency caused by the restaurant. This is unacceptable and they continued to make EXCUSES for bad behavior and business because it was a graduation day. I will never recommend or enter this business again. Respectfully Yours, Ms. Delta Sigma Theta read more

On last night, my husband and I decided to try Godfrey's for the first time. We heard from several people that the food is delicious. We arrived at 8:05pm. The sign stated the restaurant closes at 9pm. It was not busy at all. Only 2 other parties there and they had already received their order. We were seated and the server arrived a couple of minutes later to take our order. She informed us that the bar was closed. No biggie, we still wanted to try this restaurant. We placed our order and waited about 20 minutes later for the server to come back with only one of ours plates with the wrong side items. . And then she informed us that they were out of the cabbage and my options were fries, okra and white rice. She apologized and stated that they were slow tonight and decided to start closing the kitchen down! Unbelievable and unacceptable! Then we had to wait another 10 minutes for my husband to receive his food and my side items. We ended up packing the food up and leaving. We didn't get to eat our food there as the employees were more concerned about cleaning. It was a very disappointing experience especially spending $60 for 2 meals and couldn't get exactly what we ordered. The server should have been more prepared and known what was available before we ordered. We could have made a decision to deal with that or leave. That option was taken away from us. And if the manager decides to start closing the kitchen an hour early then you should basically close earlier or inform the customers that you stop taking orders at 8pm and not 9pm. It is not the customers fault that the employees are trying to leave work early! Please improve this because I'm sure your restaurant is losing a lot of money at night. This wasn't a one time thing. Apparently this is the practice for your night crew. Again, this was a very disappointing experience especially when we had heard great things about this place and we were very excited to go. read more

Godfreys has a policy that if you're not satisficed with your meal .They will not substitute for something else nor refund your money. You have to pay for the meal rather you eat or not even if it's untouched. I have never heard of a policy like this in any restaurant . So beware if your food is cold or unsatisfactory you still have to pay no exceptions. read more
