Walking into this place was a treat within itself! The decorations give aquarium/deep sea vibes. The seating area was very spacious. We went here on a Sunday morning arriving a little after they opened at 11am. We were seated and our server Tarlys(TJ) came over and took our drink order. We started out with mimosas The mimosa was made just right with the perfect mix.. Appetizers we got Hot seafood Dip( it's not spicy) and Reggae fries. Time to order the entree and honestly we were so undecided bc EVERYTHING sounded fulfilling This isn't a place to get an appetizer and entree, we were full b4 the entree came! The appetizers are huge and shareable! Noted for my next visit! For entree I got the oxtail pasta( come with a yeast roll and garlic bread).. My friend got oxtails w/ fried candies and yams. EVERYTHING WAS GOODDDD!! We took most of our food home be it was so much! This isn't a cheap place but you definitely get a large portion of food! I have no complaints everything was perfect from the food to the server! This was my first visit and I will be going back! read more

First time here, but it will not be my last. I had the Southern Fried Catfish, Okra, and Mac & Cheese. We had the most excellent server, Kyla. She was exceptional, kind, courteous, and attentive. Kyla made my day. This entire meal tasted as if Jesus had cooked it for His disciples. You could taste the love in this food. I refute and rebuke every negative review that has been written about this place. The ambiance was friendly, and I thank and praise the management for how they treat their customers. I will be back soon!!! If you live in the area or are coming in from out of town, stop here!!! read more

Best Caribbean fusion food I've ever had! The flavors were out absolutely delicious . Every bite of the dishes were pleasing. I have to be honest the wait was very long and the service was subpar but the I would have waited forever just to have the food. I would highly recommend dispute the long wait. read more

Omg!!!! The oxtail egg rolls are one of the best things I've ever eaten! Yams and fried chicken were great as well. I love that the cornbread is not sweet because it pairs perfectly with the yams! The fish and grits were so good you're tempted to lick the plate. Even when reheated it was still delicious!! read more

The ambience was chill, The food was great, I had the oxtails, rice and beans and cabbage... Absolutely delicious. The service was lacking because for our table of 10 there was only one server and several side were forgotten, but the young man was very nice and so he did explain he was the only one... We hope he enjoyed his generous tip for trying his best. read more

My friend and I went in around 8pm on a Saturday and were able to sit in the high tops by the bar. Our server, Solomon, was super sweet and attentive! However, we waited over an hour for our food to come out and when it did, I was missing a side dish and my friend's macaroni was cold as if it was never put in the oven. I ordered pasta to go at the end of our dinner and that came out quicker than the food we ordered while sitting inside the restaurant and they gave me the wrong pasta! But we got the seafood dip as an app and it was absolutely DELICIOUS! 10/10 recommend. My friend really likes their jerk chicken and yams. I got rib tacos and wasn't really impressed but I' willing to give them another try in the future. Also, there was a live band which made it a little noisy but nothing too crazy. read more

The quality of the food. I ordered jerk chicken from them and it came out dry even with the sauce on it. The chef had the nerve to tell me it's supposed to be like that. I wanted to sub it out but they didn't want me to change it out. read more

Food is excellent. Has gotten better organized less shortage. Will definitely go again . Lovely building

The building is older and it's a little dark inside BUT the food and service was AMAZING! I had the jerk chicken, coconut rice and cornbread. My husband ordered the oxtail, greens and cornbread. The meat was tender and perfectly seasoned. The sides were delicious and that cornbread almost looked like a small cake. It was delicious as well. Do not miss out on trying this great food. The wait staff was super friendly. read more

So after learning the was a Jamaican restaurant I could wait to go. I got the large oxtail with fried okra and beans and rice. My husband got the jerked catfish Mac and cheese and cabbage. My son Got the kids catfish We also got the smothered cornbread with yams. We ordered from people drinks which were really good. The food gave me the runs. Everything was too rich. I'm going to blame it strictly on the oxtails. Because when I ate my leftovers two days later same thing happened. I'm a little traumatized now to be honest. Even now that I am looking at my pics. I get a little squeamish. The drinks were good though A Bob Marley And Good vibrations. read more

The oxtails are AMAZING! The sweet potatoes are mid and I didn't like the Mac n cheese. I also got the cornbread which was also really good. It is truly pitiful the lack there if service my family and I received today. After waiting 23mins no waitress came to greet, ask for drinks NOTHING! We had just left the hospital from visiting my grandmother to get some comfort food that was recommended.    We sat down for 23 mins and never had anyone to come even get a drink order! Down right pitiful when you try to support a black owned business ‼  When we finally decided to just leave they decided to be sarcastic and say, Have a nice day?! You will not succeed long with that type of attitude.  Your employees will drive your business down. Based on some of the posts on FB, other have experienced some of what we experienced. The menu for the restaurant is fantastic, but I the portions are small and were not tasty at all. I was visiting the area for a graduation and we came here to eat. I ordered the jerk chicken with sweet coconut rice. The sweet coconut rice was just sugar rice and the jerk chicken was not bad, but it just seemed to have marinade just baked on top which is not the type of jerk chicken I am used to. We tried the non-alcoholic drinks which was just kool-aid. read more

Y'all.... Take a seat for this one! Quickest seating is at the bar and thankfully we did because the bartender's attitude and hospitality is really the only saving for this experience. Symphonie is a diamond in the rough. If you stop in, take my recommendation and sit w/ her at the bar. The live music was pretty good on this Sat night. The artist was very talented and the island vibe is catchy but, you can tell the owner(s) skimp big time on everything from decor, cups, utensils, sauces. Y'all.... These prices and they're serving plastic utensils, plastic cups, and freaking sauce packets! They should be ashamed or just set up picnic tables & use to-go boxes!! SMH We ordered a variety appetizer, which was served quick and spot on with good flavors. The cocktails were also on point. Dinner was extra slow and served in rounds, rather than all at the same time. One meal was served Luke warm, the pork chops were moist but as small as a Wendy's kids burger patty! By 7:30pm they were out of greens.... WTH?! It's y'all's top selling side and can't manage thru a full Saturday dinner service. The GM popped around but, wasn't seemingly useful to the opportunities. Another recommended spot bites the dust. I suggest low expectations & mostly come for the music & drinks. read more

I got the Cajun Jerk chicken Togo, they were amazing, a slight kick to them but bearable to eat. For my meal I got the Large portion oxtail meal, with greens, rice and beans, and sweet yam cornbread! The cornbread is not in the picture but I would give this meal a 10/10. The greens were my favorite with the cornbread, it tasted like somebody's grandma cooked them, they were so juicy and tender. The oxtails were full of flavor all the way to the bone, and the rice and beans were really good as well, no complaints. I went on a Sunday which is always busy, they said an hr wait from when we ordered, but the food came out in less than 15-25 mins!!! Amazing. read more

One thing I know, and I often say, CONSISTENCY IS KEY in any restaurant. If you are not consistent with good quality food, count your days. Now, I Never bash restaurants because I've been in food service most of my life. Now Godfrey's Flagship: TRASH TRASH TRASH!! We went there about a year ago and it was great!! But TONIGHT First off we stood in the door 10 minutes before someone finally came to seat us, tho 2 employees looked at us and kept walking. The red beans were so dry I couldn't even mix them up. The pork chop didn't see a lick of seasoning. They were so bland when I tasted them it made me gag. The canned greens had long vines, not stems. The bread was decent but it was cold. I scoffed down a few beans and a few vines with that cold bread. Husbands food was decent, minus the Mac & Cheese, ZERO FLAVOR just cheese. I let him taste mine to make sure it just wasn't me expecting too much. He def agreed with me. The sweet tea was good and on top of it all we had to pay an extra $10 to hear old dude sing. Needless to say that was our last time. SN: we had another server who actually helped us more than our original server. read more

Tried this place two times now & both were honestly a disappointment. The restaurant is extremely cold, food came out lukewarm, food was okay at best, service was EXTREMELY SLOW, food came out one plate at a time, servers were very forgetful & did not tend to our table properly, & it took extremely long to get the check. Also, the food presentation is nice but the taste falls short. The servers had no sense of urgency at all & they kept disappearing back in the kitchen for extended periods of times. This is not a place I'd recommend for real jerk anything. Did I mention it's OVERLY PRICED?! The only nice thing about this restaurant is the location & decor but that's about it. If anyone decides to go, I hope you have a far better experience than I did! read more

Service, top notch...food, bomb...parking, easy...portions, plentiful. Did I mention the food was bomb? First time at Godfrey's but it surely won't be my last. Had the oxtails based on other reviews and they did not disappoint. Living in the DC area for 10 years my standards were high and these exceeded expectation. Sucks that the rice and peas don't come automatically with the dish, it counts as one of your two sides. I got the pan cabbage as my other side. It's shredded deliciousness! SO good and flavorful. The meal also comes with your choice of bread. I went with yams smothered cornbread (for a small up charge). It's a rounded piece of cornbread with either yams or greens on top. The menu has coconut yams but trust me when I tell you that you can't taste the coconut. Nor does it make the yams overly sweet. They were SO good. My Lord! The portions are huge, you'll have enough for later and then some. Which helps digest the $30 lunch price tag. Grabbed some reggae punch ($6) to drink but I also needed my water to dilute it. It's House Party kool-aid sweet. Took a kid's catfish nugget ($9.50) to go. It was more like popcorn shrimp as opposed to nuggets. Was kinda greasy. My son was not a fan. I was not a fan of passing the card processing fee over to the customer but I'mma let that go. I know to bring enough cash next time. Would have appreciated that tidbit being on the menu or announced by the server. Maybe it's posted somewhere and I just missed it. Shout out to our fantastic server Shy...she was attentive and did not bat an eyelash when I asked for some yam juice! Lol And for the reviewer who posted about plastic cutlery...shame on you! Had me walking in there with a fork and knife in my purse. We were not served plastic nor did I see anyone else with it. Overall...will definitely come again. Not only for the oxtails but I want to try their curry chicken and goat. This is authentic Jamaican food that will have you thinking you're on the island! read more

I purchased the oxtails lunch along with a catfish meal to go. I went in and the restaurant was pretty dim on the inside but it was a nice dim. They had some sort of blue lighting similar to maybe a nightclub. The young woman at the front desk was sweet. She told me that the regular oxtails meal, or the large, was $42.00 or something near that amount. I was so shocked by this. Another customer was standing near me when she said this and he said to me this was the reason he seldom orders oxtails. The price is just so extreme. Finally after several minutes I recieved the dinners and I left. The verdict. The catfish was ok. Although I've had much better. They appeared to take a normal sized catfish filet and cut it down the middle. Although it was still a decent size. Very long. But somewhat thin. I had two of them. I didn't care for the breading. It simply wasn't that good and the fish was very, very salty. I had yams and cornbread as a side and both of these were very good. Later I ate the oxtails. They were good. The rice and beans the oxtails came with were not very good. The rice was mushy. The beans and oxtail sauce had a slight sweetness that made it off-putting. Do they put sugar in their sauce? Not sure. I didn't like it. The rice and beans did not taste fresh. They tasted as if they had been cooked some time ago and reheated and reheated. They had lost their texture. read more

The ambiance was nice. The live music is nice but unsure why they charge an additional $5 for music when the food is extremely over priced and I don't have a limit when enjoying a night out but what i had doesn't match the price nor flavor. Our server was nice, and so was his service. My friend didn't like her drinks and he did take them off. I added water to mine because it tasted like syrup was not good at all. The spring roll tasted like boiled chicken and cabbage. Not bad, but I didn't taste jamaican flavors. My friend like her shrimp but everything else was a no. read more

Visited from Houston with my family of 5, and despite everyone's recommendations, the service was a letdown. The food looked amazing as I waited for order a drink and watched 4 tables and the 3 ladies at the bar be served. Realized it's automatic gratuity for parts of 5 or more so maybe that's why no one cared to serve us since tip is automatic. We waited 20 minutes to be acknowledged while the staff seemed distracted. The parting comment was unprofessional. Guess we'll be taking our business elsewhere read more

The food was so good! It came fresh and it was decent portion sizes. Also, I got the flowood drive for a drink and it was tasty!

The food was not good, they charge my credit card 10.00 for the band playing, they didn't ask customers should they hire a band and that we as the customers would have to pay for it, and they charge a percentage for using your credit card, ghetto and unprofessional, that was my first and last visit read more

Hello all, I've been hearing good things about so I tried them. Note this was a call in order. When I called it in the woman that answers the phone said I will call you when the order is ready. I drove 20 mins. Sat in the car 15-18 mins. Then I called. She said yes it's ready and she was sorry. I paid for it and didn't take the time to look at it. I have sent this picture to friends. And they all said I should had checked before I left. It's so cold and taste nasty. I'm so disappointed. Look at this close people. I would recommend that you don't order the oxtails. As you can see they are small and it's only 3. I am so mad. The owner needs to call me. read more

When I love something, I love it and I overdose on it. Out of all the times I've come to Godfrey's flagship, I have never experienced poor customer service..... until today. And you all know I'm always recommending Godfrey's. Amber, our server, was HORRIBLE. In fact, BEYOND HORRIBLE. And it takes a lot for me to say someone was horrible. I overly make excuses for people. After the kitchen runner brought the food, she never stopped to ask if we needed anything. I wanted hot sauce with my oxtails...that I never received. My guest wanted a refill on his sweet tea which he never received. The whole time, she never stopped to check in.. I ordered a drink that I had to ask the bartender to bring... after it set at the bar for the longest. This experience is funny because the last time I posted Godfrey's in my story with the caption, "Godfrey's never misses", someone commented, how bad of experience they always have and I commented, "I have never experienced that. (Check comments.) Then, this tops the cake, I asked for the manager on duty....which was a TOTAL waste. She listened with this smirk as if I was lying. She never apologized. She stated, "I'll talk to her about it." Amber then proceeds to walk past our table several times with the same smirk like, "You asking for the manager didn't do anything." If they check my record at Godfrey's, I tip and I tip well. Today, she received $0.00. I did tip the bartender, April, who is always great. She goes over and beyond. They won't receive a dime of my hard earned money again. read more

The food was delicious. The service was great and the restaurant itself is clean and welcoming.

I've come to realize, Godfrey's is hit and miss, and the restaurant prices are too high to be a miss. My first time taking out was a disaster. I have eaten here, a hand full of times and not a good consistency on service or quality of food, I think it will be a place in passing. my Order today isn't worth posting the pictures, because they let the food leave the kitchen knowing it wasn't right. They definitely have to hire the right staff because I will charge it to the game and throw $100.00 plus in the trash. read more

They need to make sure they have enough food to serve and communicate with those that have reservations so they won't be waiting for a long time thinking they are about to eat. Also they need to be considerate of other people's time instead of having them to wait so long to end up not being served. read more
