My husband and I love coming here post marathon for some full-body Cryo. They are open 7-days a week and we have no problem getting in. Their Cryo chamber is different from others, where you fully enter the chamber. As opposed to your head sticking out. You can set your temperature and search for your own music to play while freezing. staff is always friendly, parking is ample, and it's easy to find. Bought the mix and match for my partner as a Christmas gift 2024 and we actually got around to try the place out for the first time together today. We started with Cryo then Sauna. I was at yoga in a lot of pain with a torn hip flexor. A friend suggested Cryotherapy and said it was good for reducing inflammation. I've heard of cryotherapy and have always wanted to try it but never knew there was such a convenient location in SD! My boyfriend and I found their Facebook ad for first time customers, promoting a $29 cryo session for first time customers. We came in and were promptly greeted by Mark, one of the owners of GoCryo (their name recently changed from NextGen Cryo to GoCryo). He was extremely welcoming and gave us a tour of their store, from their compression chairs to their back rooms where they stored their nitrogen tanks. Mark explained the vast benefits of cryo therapy. Although a typical cryo therapy session is only 2-3 minutes, the time your body spends inside the cryo chamber allows your blood vessels to constrict which pushes the blood from your peripheral tissues to your core and internal organs. During this process, the blood is naturally filtered and replenished with fresh oxygens, enzymes, and proteins, while removing toxins. They had several customers waiting for both the regular cryo therapy as well as the localized cryo session but the team worked promptly to get us into the fitting rooms and into the cryo chamber. The session was approximately 2.5 minutes, with the temperature going down to 270 degrees Fahrenheit. It was definitely cold, but like Mark explained, it was more surface-level than immersive cold like an ice bath. They are located in a business center with a decently sized parking lot. All their team members are extremely friendly and hospitable. They check on you throughout your session to make sure you're okay and ask how you're feeling after your session. I definitely felt the benefits after leaving my session including feeling more refreshed and energized. I can see this being extremely beneficial for athletes, both before and after work out sessions. I had an extremely painful injury between my left scapula and spine for over 6 months. The pain was so bad, at times it brought me to tears. My physician prescribed prednisone. Mark & Matt, the co-owners of GoCryo are the best! I was referred to GoCryo by another business down the street. I made my appointment with Mark over the phone, and was met by Matt when I checked in. He went over the operating procedures, do's & dont's, and gave setting recommendations. While I've done cryo before, it was the older nitrous system with your head above the dry cold chamber; with this system your entire body from head to toe is inside the cryo chamber. I would say people who are claustrophobic might like the 'other' system since you keep your head outside the chamber. I preferred this new cryo chamber but it took a little getting used to. Towards the end of the cryo cycle, my upper back & shoulders were getting very cold (more so than the rest of my body because the super cold draft comes from above. With this cryo system, since your head is "inside" the chamber, you may want to wear their provided face mask, headband, & earmuffs to help keep those areas from feeling numb like my shoulders & back of neck/upper back get just prior to completing your treatment. GoCryo has complimentary Spotify which you can listen to with their wireless headphones during your 3-3 1/2 minutes inside the chamber. Or you can opt just to meditate to during your cryo treatment. This system uses a vertical LED progress bar going up the sides of entrance door. Since it would be a little challenging to read a display or countdown timer, the LED's are great as the red segments light up from the ground to the ceiling as your session progresses from start to finish. Even with your eyes closed, you can see the lights grow from the ground up. Once your session's up, the LED turns blue again letting you know it's safe to exit. If at anytime, it gets to be too uncomfortable, you can always push the door open and exit. I've actually done two cryo sessions at GoCryo, and both times, I've had the 2nd coldest setting of the four you can choose. I don't think I could do the coldest setting, and the setting I use is just perfect. Matt ended up selling me a pre-paid package deal since I plan to go to GoCryo after my chiropractor appointments over the next two weeks. I also tried out their inflatable compression/decompression machine as I'm currently rehabbing some low back pain for the past three weeks. The GoCryo waiting room is a little small, but not over cramped as patron sessions go pretty quickly, and patron turnover is managed very well. The only time I would guess it might feel tight with patrons would be if anyone came in off the street as a walk-in requesting any of their services. I felt the business from the reclining compression/decompression chairs, and cryo room, and dressing rooms were as clean as one would expect. They keep their robes, gloves, socks, slippers, face masks (these feel very small sized or overly tight for me and I don't have a big head, the ear loops tug my ears forward and feel like they're child sized), and earmuffs stocked and clean. TLDR: Place is amazing, staff are great and treat you like family, services are on point, and they seem to have the best prices in San Diego. Matt will probably be the main person you see. He's very knowledgeable and helpful in explaining how everything works, just like other members have already said. I would like to note that he will have your best interest at heart. I was ready to sign up for a membership after my first session to maximize my bang for the buck and he advised me to take it slow and just try things out. I basically threw my money at him and he really wanted to make sure that I was happy with things first. The rest of the staff I've met are just as awesome. Zain is always helpful and nice to talk to. Audrey usually does my IVs and has that typical caring touch of a good nurse. Alyna helped me with my first cryo session. Checked this place out for the first time after hearing about it from various friends. I have a good friend that's a marathon runner and always swears by cryotherapy for her recovery after marathons. I've been working on healing from a pretty severe hamstring injury for the past several months and have done various forms of therapy/recovery methods to assist with my healing process. If you haven't tried Cryotherapy yet, you should. A friend recommended NextGen Cryo to me after she tried it. I called to see if I could get the same promotion my friend did. I spoke with Matt who was so nice and informative. He scheduled my appointment and said I could bring some friends along if I wanted. Day of the appt I met Matt and his brother. From start to finish, it was quick and easy. You're in the "chamber" for approximately 2.5 minutes. They give you gloves, socks, and slippers that you have to wear. Don't be modest! You are wearing the robe until you're in the chamber, the the robe comes off. If you have any aches, pains, post surgery healing, wanna burn calories, or just want to try it, I highly recommend it. I ain't gonna lie, that sh*t got real cold at about the 1.5 min mark, but for me it was tolerable. I think it got down to -260 degrees. After you're out, your endorphins kick in and you have this amazing burst of energy. Matt said a lot of people will go work out after to keep that energy going. Me personally... First time doing cryotherapy and probably not the last. I found a coupon on Facebook that allowed me to try a 3 minute session for $20. With a sore body from a long week of working out, I figured $20 isn't bad. Plus I was intrigued with all the videos about cryotherapy and turning into a human popsicle. Scheduling an appointment online is simple and they are nice enough to send text reminders as well. The location is easy to find if you follow their directions from the email you receive. I could see parking being a hassle. Most spots are reserved for the tenants. I was one of the first appointments they had on the weekend. The staff is very friendly and can answer any questions you might have. Matt set me up with a fitting room to change into the appropriate attire. You keep on your underwear but wear long socks, slippers and gloves. Tip: try to use the thicker gloves. Then it's time to become Mr. Freeze and talk like Arnold. Matt ran through the details and how cold it will get down to. I stepped into the chamber that was already at -150° then the nitrogen is pumped in and goes sub -230°. They always have a staff member in the room to talk to you, and distract the fact you're practically nude in temps colder than anywhere on earth. My body felt tingly and my legs tightened. The cold didn't bother my body but my finger tips felt it the most. After the 2 minutes fly by you're out and feeling great. My aches went away and I started to break a light sweat getting dressed. They say your body will burn 600 calories and I didn't believe it until I got a burst of energy about 30 minutes after. It lasted a good portion of the day.
