We had GO Irrigation install our system last summer.
Things were a bit rocky from the start. After confirming a time for him to come by for an estimate after work, he didn't show and we had to reschedule. Despite this, we selected him out of several companies in the area as the system he proposed was a Rain Bird system that was fairly priced compared to the other companies I had contacted. He also touted their system as self draining, which meant I could shut the system down each fall without having to pay someone else to do it every year.
After selecting GO Irrigation, scheduling and communication started to be hit or miss. We scheduled install date about a month out from when we accepted their bid, and I made arrangements to work from home so I could be there when they needed access to the garage to install the controller. The scheduled date came, and they never showed. After waiting at home for him and his crew to show up, I finally got in contact with Gil about half way through the day, he apologized and said they were running behind on their previous jobs due to the heat. He said he would knock off some of the price (about 10%) and committed to the install the following week. The following week came, and there was yet another delay, again attributed to his crew having to deal with the heat of the summer.
When they finally did get to our installation, he showed up at our home the afternoon before the scheduled install to run the lines through the yard. The machine he used ended up leaving oil spots and gouges on our driveway and sidewalk. They did not put any kind of grass seed over the areas where the lines were pulled, and here we are a year later and they are still bald areas all over our yard from them. The crew showed up the following day (mostly college aged kids, no Gil in sight) and went to work on the install.
After the install was complete, his crew walked me through the operation of the system, which is a great system and fully automated. They said they would be back in the fall to show me how to shut down the system for the winter. I later noticed the valve box they installed in the back yard was in the ground crooked, and they assured me as it settled it would straighten out. Unfortunately, we still have a crooked box in the ground in our back yard.
Winter shut down went relatively smoothly, with some scheduling and communication issues that I had become accustomed to with Gil at this point.
This May, around the time the backflow test was needed and after several rounds of rain I happened to notice the ground around the valve box in the back yard was very wet. I pulled the cover and found the box completely filled with water. I reached out to Gil to see if this was normal, he assured me it was covered under our warranty and he sent one of his guys to check it out. Apparently, while he was checking it out one of the pieces broke, so a replacement had to be ordered. Same song, different verse. After several delays they were finally able to get the repair completed about a week later.
However, the valve box was still full of water a month later and I reached out to Gil to make sure there wasn't a leak or anything else wrong with the system. He sent his guys out a second time, and after draining the box they said it was just ground water and charged me a $100 service call fee.
All in all, the system itself is great. The communication and service from the team at GO Irrigation leaves a lot to be desired. read more
