Nice clean establishment that wasn't so pricey to be downtown chicago. Workers were friendly and conversated a little also. Told me where to get my items and got me in And out of there. read more

If I could go back in time... I would definitely go somewhere else besides go grocer Okay the selection is small but I can deal with that, it was just so so expensive for just a little snack. I'd be better off going to walgreens or something, and definitely way better off finding a regular grocery store. read more

Small, neat grocery story with sufficient groceries, snacks and coffee. The staff are always so friendly! It's a little expensive compared to other grocery stores. But it's perfect for when you just want to get the basics/few things or you run out of certain things and you're lazy to go to a bigger grocery store. They have pretty good coffee, but I am not a fan of their croissants. read more

Go Grocer - Machiato - Grocery Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

For what the place is it's pretty good once you know which super pricy rip off items to avoid. Their beer and wine selection are really good for such a small place and some of their grocery items are pretty reasonable too. Avoid stuff like the way marked up chocolate squares and cupcakes and stick to the freezer section. Many times when I was in there I spotted an Uber eats driver coming in for a pick up of just Ben and Jerry's, which isn't as marked up as a lot of other stuff. I also swear by their Go Grocer brand sourdough. That with the boars head American cheese makes an awesome grilled cheese. The staff is pretty nice too, Tom and Daniel are the best. read more

We love this spot for some quick things we need! We usually pop in for wine or ice cream. So much more convenient than going into Jewel. The prices are a bit more expensive than other stores but you're paying for convenience and avoiding the crowd. The staff is always super nice and during these Covid-19 days they are always clean and sometimes have hand sanitizer. read more

The 1400 S Michigan location is top notch. ROCK, Lalo, Luis and Kyle are always friendly and ready to help. The store is clean and well stocked. A great part of the South Loop family!! read more

CORNER STORE This is a convenience store. You really don't come here to do all of your shopping but you do stop in to grab what you need during times of emergency. Does everything in here cost a little more? Yeah but that's the price of convenience. When I first stopped in here I was starving because I had not had lunch and it was the afternoon already. I wasn't looking for a full meal but just a small snack to carry me over to dinner. So I grabbed a banana and a container of grilled chicken. I was actually excited to see the chicken as an option. Not many small stores would carry something like that but it was perfect for me. I was really happy with my selection and it carried me over until I had dinner later. There's liquor here, which makes everyone happy. The staff is also super friendly. When I'm in the area and I need something quick this is my GO TO store plus I know I can grab a small protein boost without making it a heavy sandwich. So if your in the area and need a few items this is your place. There's a ton of residential high rises in the area and I'm sure this place does well. Where you gonna go when your out of drink? The most convenient place! read more

Go Grocer 1400 S. Michigan Ave. They do not take returns. I was sick and need a throat lozenges. My husband came home with the wrong one. Forty-eight hours later he went back, with the receipt, and an unopened box. He was told no returns are ever permitted. There is a lot Go Grocer on 14th and Michigan can bring to our neighborhood regarding the number of options, quality product and hopefully warm, friendly, helpful employees. But not accepting returns is not the attitude we want in this neighborhood. It is a corporate, bureaucrat policy. I can accept the convenient up prices, but not the other things I mention. They need to be part of our community or move out. Give the prime space to someone that wants to be a neighborhood business. read more

Not very friendly, followed around the store, purchased $33 worth of items in this store , don't think I was going to steal anything. Will never go back. This store in the 1400 block on Michigan. read more

I was there yesterday for the first time. It was well stocked and had a lot of options. The store clerk was very nice! Nice addition to the neighborhood. read more

I very much like idea of this store and many of their Items (the brownie is delicious). However, I cannot bring myself to patronize a store where the employees watch your every move as if you're gonna steal a bag of chips. I gave this place a few tries, but I had the same experience almost every time. Dear cashiers - Just because someone isn't a white hipster, it does not mean that we don't have money. It also does not mean that they are not entitled to the same customer service as the person in front of them. Treat your customers better. I will never spend money here again. read more

Tried the new location at Park Tower, Grilled cheese and soup. With no exaggeration whatsoever, the broccoli cheese soup tasted and look like green water. The grilled cheese was OK, but missing the tomato I asked and paid extra for. Total cost over $17. read more

Up until yesterday,i really thought that the customer service at this location was consistently decent. The male cashier that i usually see at this location, clearly didn't care for the fact that i returned something for a full refund finally.I returned their "Milk Chocolate" covered animal crackers, because after eating just a few of them,i strangely started getting a cryptic or vague sensation on my tongue that really bothered me.Obviously, milk chocolate was not the only thing covering the animal crackers.Animal crackers without milk chocolate covering them have never did this cardboard like tasting sensation to my tongue ever, even if they were the cheapest animal crackers i have ever had.The faux acknowledgement and all of a sudden strange vibe of the male cashier that was usually more relaxed if you will, was just as shocking as the very annoying tongue sensation the milk chocolate animal crackers gave me immediately after eating the second one. However,my organically sweet tooth ways are usually satisfied with their gourmet style store brand sweets and snacks. They're also very pricey too. read more

If Whole Foods is AKA "Whole Paycheck" it would be fair to label the Sky Grocer "Paycheck-and-a-half" ((that's only IF you can find more than 3-4 items you would even want to purchase from this place)) Why is everything so damn expensive? Their selection isn't even all that..... Take the hike to Whole Foods - their prices are more reasonable than the Sky Grocers. ...or... keep begging for a Trader Joes in your neighborhood, South Loopers. On another note, when I walk into a "boutique" "neighborhood" grocery store that is charging me out the ass, I expect friendly customer service... at very least, a smile. I was not greeted when I walked through the door. The lady working at the grocery (who happened to be the only person in the store besides me) didn't even acknowledge me. This same lady didn't speak to me until it was time to tell me the total of my goods, AND she never thanked me. psssh. never again. read more

It's a little pricey, but they have a nice selection of shelf-stable foods - think higher-end cereal (Puffins! OMG) and pasta and such. It's a good place to pick up milk or a bottle of wine. Not so good if you're expecting more than that. Also - note that they do have fresh, cheap coffee and scones in the morning. Great fuel for your walk to the train. read more

The store is clean, spacious and food is pretty good. What was a big turn off was a cashier following my every move as if i was going to smuggle food out and he was just waiting to catch me act when all i had was a clutch purse. 1. I would never steal from any one or any place. 2. Getting ID when all i bought was a salad and juice. Using my debit card read more

A great option to go to when I am too lazy to walk to Jewel. I have found myself many weekends running over there in the middle of my husband making breakfast looking for some eggs, potatoes or syrup. I was pleasantly surprised that they had some gourmet and organic food. A really nice touch. As well, they have a nice selection of beer and wine. The person working there when I went to buy wine seemed to be pretty knowledgeable and she was good at choosing a wine for me when I told her what I needed was something cheap that won't make my head hurt :) read more

Go Grocer serves as the only convenience store in a 3 block radius. You could walk to Jewel-Osco or Trader Joe's on Roosevelt, but Go Grocer would be my first stop if I needed something immediately. They are well stocked with the most urgently required items for your kitchen - which I needed when I moved in a few blocks from them. They are open till midnight, always a good thing. They have bakery items, homemade chocolate, a good selection of tea and some coffee, cereal, pastas, sauces... all that stuff. For a small store, they have a surprising selection of alcohol. read more

This place is really cool it has really interesting options and is like a hybrid of a high end specialty store and a 7/11. Its expensive but i understand why. If i walked past it i would probably walk in frequently. read more

Sky Grocer moved into the building within the last 6 months. It's really nice to have. It's not too expensive for certain items but for other items it is really expensive. They have a great beer selection and the booze is reasonably priced. However, if I didn't live in the building or directly across the street I probably wouldn't shop here. read more

Pros: Location, Selection (for a convenience store), great staff Cons: Price Go Grocer is what it is - a corner store that may be slightly closer to you than going to Jewel, Trader Joes, or Whole Foods. Forget something or too lazy to walk? They'll have what you probably need, but cost a few bucks more for the convenience. They have a great selection, especially on the liquor front, and have been a life saver numerous times when we've ran out of or forgotten things. read more

So... the prices are JUST STUPID. You pay for CONVENIENCE and if you're too lazy to walk another 3 blocks to an actual larger grocery store, then ..well... YOU PAY. And, I am guilty of loving convenience, so I spend way too much $$ here. The staff are all wonderful. Very friendly, both the daytime crew and the evening crew. They have a pretty nice wine selection and on occasion will even have wine tastings, which is pretty cool for a small, little (upscale) Grocer. read more

So i was pretty excited when this place opened a month or two ago - I live right across the street and i think the neighborhood needed a little bit of competition to the jewel on roosevelt - honestly i got kinda sick of the seedy types of characters id run into at the BP an jewel parking lots, and i never really feel up to walking all the way down there at 10 or 11 pm when i've got a case of the munchies or need something to drink. sky grocer is great - definitely not a place to do all your grocery shopping as its organic * aka pricey * - but they have an AWESOME beer selection , they carry some really cool potato chips and different types of chocolate, and they have great fresh veggies. If you need to grab a snack on your way home or pick up a 6 pack with friends, i'd recommend this place. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because i'd say that it's got about 10-15% premium on prices compared to the local Jewel. ( not on everything....but 10 bucks for marinara sauce? come on! ) all in all worth a visit. read more

really cool quick convenience store. I love their premade desserts and meals! quality items. the attendants are funny as heck too.

Do not come here on a Sunday morning if you have errands to run. You will be disappointed. I tried to grab some supplies for the week while on a walk at 9:30am only to be told they don't sell alcohol till 11am. This is either A) ignorance of the Chicago laws or B) silly conservative store policy. In either case, they wasted my time, and Jewel got my business instead. Go Grocer simply makes you Go Elsewhere. read more

I live not too far from here and I would rather walk a little further to go to Jewel. The selection is ok, not the usual stuff you would expect to see in a grocery store but some of the normal necessities. The prices are quite outlandish and not worth the cost in my opinion. Nothing has every tasted bad but definitely not worth $8.00 for a box for chocolate covered pretzels. The staff are awesome, very friendly and love to make small talk, which being from the south I miss! All in all- not bad, not amazing. If you're in the area and you're famished definitely stop in but I wouldn't go out of my way to go here. read more

This place is clean, convenient, and priced fair enough... Each year we stay in the 1255 Condo building and this Market of course is on the ground floor connected to the lobby of that building... We are here for the marathon and our stay is always at least 7 days so there is going to be one or two times we hit this place for some essential thing that we don't have and it always comes through... As I said, don't go in there expecting some bargain-basement prices as their volume is small but their selection is fairly wide... The store is well laid out and clean and the help is friendly enough... Thanks for being there when we need you. read more

This place is fine - they more or less have what you need but you will pay a hefty price for the convenience factor. When it's not snowing or prior to 11 p.m., i make the trek over to Jewell, but if you're making pancakes and find yourself with no eggs and no neighbors who are awake, this is a legit place to run in for something quick. They have a pretty good selection of booze and also have bags of ice on hand, so if you're having a party, it's an easy place to run and grab something you forgot. read more

So happy this placed opened last summer. I was sick of people asking me for change at the BP. Even had a guy say "Saw you got some change" when I was leaving once. Anyway, of course they are a little pricier than large grocery stores, but the fact that I can go there safely at midnight is worth the extra bucks to me. The quality of the items carried is nice and when you're in the middle cooking something and forgot an ingredient, like pasta, it's nice to run downstairs and grab it within 5 minutes. read more

I found this spot after going to Panozzo's and finding out that they were closed for construction. This place has local and and organic items which pleases me. They are a little on the pricey side but to me not significantly pricier than some of the items I generally get at Whole Foods. I like that I have the option of shopping here if needed. The staff was pleasant and the hours work for me. I really enjoyed the chicken salad made with Boarshead chicken. I will definitely be returning. read more

Great little healthy grocery market!!! Awesome hard to find little snacks and stuff to eat when you want to lean to the healthy side.

This place is so convenient with it being located right under where my boyfriend lives. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. I usually go in to get a quick snack or if I don't have enough time to make myself lunch. It's a little pricey like a Whole Foods but it's healthy food! read more

I like that there is an option in the neighborhood to buy local products like Metropolis coffee and more gourmet items that might not be sold around the corner at Jewel. There is a nice wine and beer selection too which helps to fill a void now that WineStyles and Sam's have shut their doors. What I'm not crazy about are the prices. I thought I'd pick up some apples or an avocado when I popped in for a bottle of wine but was completely turned off when I saw the price ($0.99 for an apple). Yes, I know we pay for convenience, but if the prices were even a bit more affordable I'd be more apt to shop there on a regular basis! read more

You know the drill: quite the markup for convenience. But to its credit, the produce all looked fresh, the shelves were nicely stocked and organized, there is a fair selection of wine and beer (Delirium Tremens in a large bottle, oh my) and vegetarian items (vegan cheese and cookies). Employees were friendly and helpful, and the store is open until 12 a.m. during the week. They also sell coffee if you need some assistance staying up until 12 a.m. during the week. Score! read more

This is a fun store to visit because it reminds me of NYC bodegas. I love the guys who work here. They are very friendly and very helpful. The only problem I have with this place is that they break apart 6 packs of Three Floyd's Zombie Dust and sell bottles for almost $4.00 each. I know this is a hard beer to get and it is delicious. I am just surprised that Three Floyd's would allow them to up charge so significantly for the beer. They would never allow Binny's to do that... read more

This place is a bit pricey - but c'mon it is a convenient store in the South Loop. What do you expect. With that said, I was super impressed with there grab-to-go food. It's actually really good and the guys working the front are cool dudes! read more

This place serves it's purpose. Good quality, staple food and household items, limited selections with moderately marked-up prices. We loved the convenience. We came here at least once a week to grab quick snacks or packaged desserts when we didn't feel like walking to Jewel or driving to Dominick's or Whole Foods. read more

Convenience Grocer thats for sure but still a great spot to stop to grab a bottle of unique wine, and they have great organic snack options. read more

Pricey - no kidding! I got four things for $10 -- six eggs, one bunch of green onions, one carton of SoSlender soymilk, and a tiny avocado. Cute little grocery with a decent selection -- but I won't be doing my major shopping there on account of the prices. read more
