I cannot recommend Carolyn and Go Figure highly enough. When I called to make an appointment to shop, Carolyn invited me to peruse their website and let her know which pieces I was interested in trying. I did this, and when I arrived all the clothes that had caught my eye were ready and waiting for me to try them on. Trying clothes on at Go Figure was the first time in thirty (yes, 30) years I actually felt comfortable, relaxed, and hopeful while trying on clothes. I was delighted with every aspect of the experience, and went home with more clothes than I had ever purchased in one shopping trip in my life. In addition to being thrilled to actually find clothes that fit me, were comfortable, and I thought looked lovely on me, I was overjoyed to be purchasing used clothing. I prefer to purchase nearly everything second-hand, both for environmental and economical purposes. My mom found Go Figure on Yelp. She wanted to go shopping while we were in the City but she wanted something unique for women of size. It is a great environment for women who don't like to shop at department stores because it's hard to find their size or they feel uncomfortable trying things on. She has four rooms with multiple racks of beautiful clothes in sizes L to 3X and 16 to 24. They are high end brands that she has found at resale shops throughout California. She has brands ranging from Citron, Uru, Dressori, Cocoon House, just to name a few. I realize that sometimes I get the most down on places that I really wanted to like, but just couldn't. This is definitely the case here. As any fuller-figured woman knows, finding cute, affordable, well-made, good fitting clothing in our size ain't easy. We don't have endless boutiques in which to fritter away our hard-earned funds, so often times we are overly cautious about criticizing the one or two stores out there that DO carry plus-sizes, even if they aren't meeting our needs. I really wanted to like Go Figure, because there aren't a lot of boutiques that carry my size. But once stepping foot inside the store, suddenly I found myself in the midst of endless racks of over-sized, shapeless, expensive sportswear separates and dresses in synthetic fibers. In fact, I don't think I found a natural fiber in the entire store (I'm sure there might've been a cotton item or two, and there were definitely lots of cotton poly blends, but really, for the price, there should've been silks and linens and quality cottons)!! Although the owner has since reassured me that there are plenty of natural fibers in the store now, I still have other objections to how this store is stocked... I was horrified by the hideous, oversized prints, garments that were completely out of touch with anything resembling current fashion, and price tags in the hundreds. I refuse to pay $250 for a shirt on principle!! And while I don't expect a plus-size store to stock lots of teenie-bopper clothing, it'd be nice if there was something a bit more youthful on their racks. The few redeeming features of this store is that the staff is VERY friendly and helpful, and they have a back room with sale items (making them finally affordable, ie, under $100). I searched high and low for something cute, figure-flattering, and worth the dough at Go Figure, but without success. I can only hope that their other customers' needs are being met. I, on the other hand, have resigned myself to heading back to Lame Bryant and Torrid. read more

OK, so the clothing options for women size 16 and up is beyond pathetic. All those chichi little clothing boutiques in the Marina and Pac Heights? Well, when I go there with my smaller sized girl friends I usually end up loitering near the jewelry case. Because there is Nothing. There. In. My. Size. While not dropping $$$ on overpriced scraps of fabric does help me in the cash flow department, a girl's gotta look good and dress nice, right? So that's where Go Figure comes in. As far as I can tell, in the Bay Area there are less than 5 decent independent clothing boutiques catering to plus size women's clothing. Go Figure is definitely one of the most well-stocked. It has everything from winter coats to yoga pants to interview suits. They also carry swimwear, socks, jewelry, undergarments, purses, and pajamas. So, if you're a plus size gal of any age, I recommend that you give this place a chance. Come here some afternoon when you have some free time and browse the racks. There are great deals and beautiful finds that are just waiting to be discovered by you. Just take the time to look - Carolyn almost always has some sort of discount or sale going on. I will say that the store's demographic does tend to skew towards women over 30, so there's not a lot of cute clothes to go clubbing in. That's what Torrid is for. But if you're looking for stylish professional clothing that is modern and flattering for fat chicks who work in offices, or elegant evening wear for some work function, this is the place to go. And while you're there, you can pick up other stuff you need, like a new swimsuit, or workout clothes, or a new set of PJs. Go Figure is really a godsend for fat chicks like me who hate shopping online. One quibble I have is that I wish Go Figure would stock a larger range of sizes. It currently carries clothes only up to a size 24, with an odd 26 here and there. If it can expand the sizing options available to sizes 30 and up, then it would truly be a 5 star experience for plus size clothes shopping. read more

I have been a customer since the inception of Go Figure. Owner Caroline Honig is extremely enthusiastic and accommodating. She goes the extra mile with personal customer service. Her staff follows suit! Once I evolved into a 'plus' size, I was so disappointed to find that great, unique clothes were getting more difficult to find in the standard stores and boutiques. I am a fashionable lady, and wearing my clothes from Go Figure-- people are literally stopping me on the street, and asking me where I shop, or admiring my elegant, comfortable outfits, with many compliments on the styles, colors, etc. Highly recommended for all women of full figure! read more

I'll schedule an appointment to get my nails or hair done, but for clothes? No thanks. Being a "fluffy" girl (as the b-friend likes to call us) it's sometimes hard to find avant guard clothes or pieces that have a little something unusual. I love coming in and seeing what is new and the staff is always pleasant and accommodating. This is the BEST full figure clothes place I have shopped at yet. Almost all of my closet is from there. I am constantly complimented on my taste in clothes, and most of the time it would be Go Figure stuff. Perhaps Amy L went in there on the bad day, since one needs much patience to sift through the lanes of racks. I have gotten garments there for 100.00 and for 10.00 (off their sales racks). Since I have allergies, I tend to buy natural fabrics, and they carry Flax, my favorite, which is all linen. Amy, give them another chance -their inventory changes all the time, and the back room sales rack is CHEAP! but you gotta have time - they have lotsa stuff. And what a good chance to slow down and take time shopping - the sales women are wonderful - low key, yet always there to help. read more

This shop is packed with great clothes for ladies of fuller figure size 14-24. Great labels that you WILL NOT find at Macy's or Nordstrom's and a fabulous selection of clothing and accessories. I love shopping.....when I was small, my grandfather and then father owned a clothing store....it's in my blood, and as far as I can tell, Carolyn at Go Figure was born to be doing what she's doing....this is THE BEST women's clothing store in the country, and I shop them all!!! The variety, and values, the style, the youthfulness, the playfulness, the elegance, and the taste that Carolyn has in stocking this store is a "MUST SEE"...recession or not, if you have a few dollars and need to really look GREAT, this is the only store to shop in....if they don't have it, no one does!!!! I mean, there are what, two non-chain store options for plus size clothing in the city? And the other is Harper and Greer? So, while I for one would appreciate the use of the word Fat more often, the new girl who works there who is actually under the age of 30 is bringing in some really cute things that keep me going back (that, and the sales room in the back is overflowing with things that non-profit salary can afford). I have never had a more wonderful shopping experience. I have been going to Go Figure for years, as it is the only place that I have found that carries gorgeously styled plus size clothes. I was a bit spectacle when I heard that Carolyn had moved the collection into her house and worried that it would feel uncomfortable. The opposite was true. I felt like a kid in a candy store. Surrounded by clothes I love with Carolyn giving me just the right amount of attention and help. I can't wait to go back for my next indulgence. I can't rave enough about this place! As any fuller sized gal knows, finding flattering, fashionable clothing is very difficult. This place is full of high end, unique, one-of-a-kind clothes, just like any boutique store I've ever been to with my skinnier friends. They are on the expensive side, but that's to be expected for the quality and style. This isn't The Avenue or Torrid. The owner Caroline was so helpful and friendly, she had already pulled a selection of clothes in my size when I arrived. This is definitely not Lane Bryant. The staff is so helpful, just walk in and ask for what you want and it will appear. I was shopping there recently and felt right at home. The only problem was that most of the clothes were for the 40+ crowd...they do have some trendy styles that are sexy and fun. I went to Go Figure expecting to find a little street-front boutique, but was surprised to discover that the shop is temporarily housed inside owner Carolyn's apartment. At first I thought it odd to be shopping in her living room, dining, room, etc., but the high quality of the clothes, the surprisingly wide variety of choices, and the luxury of having a consultant who is intimately familiar with every detail of the clothing made it a unique and positive experience. I found numerous pieces, very unusual for me when I shop. I am usually lucky to find one or two items I like enough to buy, but at Go Figure I left with five pieces, and would have purchased more if I had allotted more time to shop. I look forward to returning to complete my shopping excursion at this unique and wonderful shop. read more

Shopping here is a blast, all the gals are friendly and interested in what you're looking for and the atmosphere is very comfortable and upbeat. here's how i describe this store to my friends: imagine that you're a wealthy artsy pacific heights plus-size woman who wants to have a retail store where you stock all the kinds of clothes you like and can't find anywhere else, and your husband says sure, honey, here's a blank check... so you open the store, and you fill it to the brim with unusual pacific heights type clothes and accessories for other plus-size women who want more than they can get at macys or lane bryant... and before you know it, you've got so much stock, you make your back room into the super sales room and women come from all over to see what you've got. ok, that's my fantasy of how the store got started, but i'm just glad that it did. the place is chock-full of unusual things you simply cannot find elsewhere, either in stores or online -- no big-name brands (unless you consider flax a big-name brand), and no cheap crap either. yes, there's a bit of overload on the appliques and lagenlook superflowy stuff, but there's a lot of variety too. i'm a bit of an avant-garde fashionista, and i have gotten several key pieces of my wardrobe at go figure. some were on sale in the back room (like the green lace victorian-style dress i got for half-price), and some were oh-my-god-$250-for-a-sweater but-i-have-to-have-it finds that were just in and that i know i won't see anyone else wearing ever. i have an italian sweater there that strangers have stopped me on the street to ask where it came from. but, since i tend to get into trouble, i only go every few months, but that's just for my own good. i've gotten some great accessories there, too, hats, scarves, purses, etc., and they have a nice plus-size sock collection. and they have a thing i just learned about... bring them a picture of you in an outfit you got there, and they'll give you a discount on your next purchase. read more

Yesterday I had the first positive experience shopping for clothes that I have had in 25 years . . . when I was a size 10. I was nervous about going to someone's home and being the center of her attention, but Caroline put me at ease. I allowed myself an hour and a half before a lunch date and the worst part of the experience was that I had trouble pulling Caroline's reins to leave on time. I was 20 minutes late for lunch with a friend on a lunch break while I had the day off, which made me feel horrible. Absent the lunch date, I probably would have stayed at least another hour. Caroline's collection is unlike anything I have found in Nordstrom or online. I was able to specify my style guidelines--no flowers, patterns, or bright colors and no "tents," fabric and design that are subtle, casually elegant, and comfortable. Instead of having to search through racks and get frustrated trying things on that run big or small, Caroline guided me through her inventory, suggesting the size based on her knowledge of the manufacturer. I am not mentally healthy enough to fully "own" being a 2X. I want clothes that flatter and camouflage my size. I found them! After all of these years, I now have the beginnings of a wardrobe that makes me feel uniquely stylish, a feeling I thought was lost to my thinner self, and all for half the price, or less, of what I would pay at Nordstrom or J.Jill. This was the *best* shopping experience I've had in my life. The quality of Carolyn's clothing and the choices she's made (she's truly curated the clothing and I *love love loved* just about everything I saw there) are outstanding. I often dislike shopping, and since I like clothing that is expressive, creative, interesting, and high quality, I tend to be disappointed and frustrated by the inventory at Macy's and Lane Bryant. But, I felt so good in the clothing I tried on at GoFigure and have little interest in going elsewhere in the future. For some who felt that she doesn't have "younger" styles: No, this store isn't filled with Torrid style clothing, but it does have creative, striking, pieces for women who aren't boring, like unique clothing, and want to find things that are creative, artsy, and professional. I'm a singer, and know that I can find distinct and attractive outfits there that I can do a show in. Great store. Ridiculously enjoyable experience. The Go Figure Women's Apparel store for plus-sizes is absolutely the best clothing store in San Francisco of any kind. It is a treasure trove of fine and casual garment inspirations! I can't say enough good things about this store. The best part is the fact that everything comes in my size there. There is also the old-fashioned, helpful staff who are focused on really helping customers. My grandmother was treated like this when she shopped for her wardrobe - if something came into the store that the salespeople thought she might like, they would always give her a call and let her know about it. There was no pressure, just a thoughtful reminder. The owner, Carolyn Honig treasures her customers and remembers what they like, and what they have purchased in the past. This store is a personable, hands-on shoppping experience. They even provide quarters for the parking meter while you are shopping as a courtesy to make it all a little easier. The main part of the store is wheelchair accessible but the backroom discount area is down one stair step. read more
