This bus service is OK and cheap. A few things, though. - no wifi even though IT IS ADVERTISED - RUDE bus driver trying to get tips from passengers The guy who collected tickets was really nice but the bus driver was a rude Russian guy who looked insulted when I asked him to turn the AC down slightly since I was freezing. Bus driver posted a sign asking for tips. No thanks, bud. Nice try. read more

DO NOT USE THIS BUS COMPANY Please bare with me as I tell you of this horrifying experience we had last night. GO BUS has ABSOLUTELY no regard for safety so if you value your life NEVER BOOK WITH THEM. It was our drivers first day which he noted while getting on the bus. Our bus had no GPS but the company encouraged him to go the route with out. They basically asked him to drive any unknown route with nothing but a cell phone. At no point did the company reach out to help him along the way. After leaving the city in a strange way we found ourselves in NJ and then finally on track towards CT. Once in CT our driver got off the highway being rerouted to Merritt Parkway which buses can not take. Next thing you know we are driving around the neighborhoods of CT. ( yes I am serious about this one) Everyone in the front of the Bus used GPS to help our driver get onto the main Highway to take back to Boston . ( newton) At this point we are about an hour and half behind schedule. Not to mention this is the last bus out of NYC - Boston and its 9:00pm at night. Let me remind you that even with all of this ciaos, the driver has reached out to dispatch MULTIPLE TIMES with no response. After going though the tolls in the Sturbridge the driver pulls off at a rest station. He tells us that he has had little to no control of the steering during 90 percent of the ride. YES HIS STEERING HAD FAILED HIM. He calls into dispatch again with no response. WAIT IT GETS BETTER...... I call my fiance for a ride since this is about 40 minutes to where we live. And boy am I glad I did. Just a few moments later the bus driver notifies us that his boss has asked him to drive the bus ( yes LIMP THE BUS HOME ) at 25 miles per hour the rest of the way with out control of the steering. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!! SO UNPROFESSIONAL AND DANGEROUS!! At no point do I blame the driver he honestly did the best he could. This company is horrible they do not train their employees , neither do they help them in emergency situations. I have no idea what happened to the rest of the crew on the bus last night but if you don't want this to happen to you DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. read more

Living in Somerville and working in Cambridge, Go Bus is the most convenient for me. And it's always clean. Drivers are polite. The WiFi can be a bit spotty, but there is WiFi and even electrical outlets. But that's not why I'm writing. I came in last night on a bus from New York to Cambridge. Somehow--and I still don't know quite how--my wallet and agenda fell out of my purse. I was faced with the hassle of cancelling all my credit cards, thinking why I ever kept my car insurance form in my wallet, getting a new driver's license etc. etc. And then I got the phone call from a polite woman named Isabel. The cleaning crew had found my wallet and my agenda and returned it. More than I ever expected. Thank you, Go Buses, and I'll make sure my zipper is securely fastened the next time! read more

I use GoBuses since I start commuting in New York, last summer. I am very pleased with the quality of service and professionalism. Starting with the terminal of the company at the Riverside station: The staff is is very polite, professional and helpful. I tried several companies and this is the only one that give you a bottle water before you get boarded. The boarding process is generally flawless and quick depending always on the number of passengers. One negative that I have to point out is the strange (ammonia?) smell that the terminal has. The busses: The GoBuses vehicles are very clean, the seats are spacious and the temperature is very comfortable although occasionally you might that you need a jacket. The drivers are also very polite and very good. Unless there are unforeseen events they are always on time. The NYC boarding: The boarding at NYC is at the 31st and 8th right across from the PennStation that makes it easily accessible. The guy that boards there is quite a character and he is very helpful. One last note: On the trip 5/17-5/18 was an experience. Leaving from the Riverside station the buss was very late (about 1 hr) due to the construction that was going on on the highways outside NYC resulting in backing up of the busses. However, the people there ordered Pizza for us and apologized for the delay. On the way back a new driver was sitting behind the wheel. He was not as professional as the GoBuses Drivers (he was not wearing the typical uniform). He was continually slightly derailing the bus until a point that he almost lost full control. Some of the passengers called the police and the officers pulled the bus over. That is the point that GoBuses really showed their commitment. They called another bus to pick us up, they fired that driver, reimbursed us for the ticket and gave us a free trip. Events like this can happen to anyone. How you handle them makes the difference between companies. read more

Five words (otherwise known as four words and an initial): "Ride with John P., you." I've ridden Worldwide about 10ish times since my initial trip. From what I've experience since, they seemed to have entirely ironed-out all of the wrinkles. The 5pm Boston-to-NYC trip is helmed by John P., who is some sort of minor bus deity. He drives fast and steadily, passes out free candy, and always gives away his rest-stop pizza (not as weird as it reads, I swear) to a hungry traveler. The route brings the bus to a stop at Riverside Station in Newton, and while that may tack on an extra 20-30 minutes, it in no significant way detracts from the experience. On the World Wide Bus, the free bottled water flows freely, like, uh, free bottled water. And you may get a copy of the NY Times and a pillow for your troubles. read more

There are 2 different Go Buses listings, so I'm sharing mine with both. Go Buses will leave before they're scheduled to leave, but the overall quality of the ride trumps this, IMO. You should plan on arriving 30 minutes prior to your departure, because the bus will leave when it's near capacity or if it's picking up passengers in Newton. Why 5 stars? - clean buses - wifi - non-stop most of the time - outlets between seats - free water - price depends on when you book, and time of day So, 5 stars because of these things? Yep! You really cannot guarantee other major bus lines to offer the same. With other buses, sometimes the buses are old, sometimes they have wifi, sometimes they have outlets, and they never have free water. Go Bus has been consistently great ever since the Chinatown buses went out of business. I'd love if the tickets were cheaper, but it's awesome that I can show a print out or even just my email. You don't always have that with the other companies. Also, if you book it far enough out, price is lower. read more

My fiancee and I took the Go Bus from Newton to Manhattan on 8/31/13 and then Manhattan back to Newton on 9/2/13. To Manhattan: Our 8/31 bus was supposed to leave at 6:25 am, and we ended up leaving around 6:30 am, so not a problem at all in my book. We made one stop along the way, about 10 minutes, and then ended in Manhattan (31st St between 8th and 9th Ave) at 10:30 am on the dot. Our seats were very comfortable, the bus was very clean, no screaming children or obnoxious passengers, and the Go Bus staff (both at Newton and the driver) were super friendly. Just like the other reviewers, we all got free water at Newton! To Newton: Our 9/2 bus was supposed to pick us up at 8:00 am and I think we ended up leaving around 8:10 am, so again not bad at all. Again, the staff and driver were very friendly and helpful. The seats were comfortable, the bus was clean, and the passengers again were very quiet and respectful. We made one stop about half way for around 15 minutes. We got into Newton around 12:15 pm or so, so about the same travel time as the Newton to Manhattan route. No free water in Manhattan, but hey, can't have it all. I think the only con for the entire trip was the temperature on the bus. Both times, the AC was on full blast and the cabin did seem to get pretty cold. We asked the driver both times to turn the air down, which he did and the cabin did warm up some. On the return trip, it felt especially cold, but the bus' thermometer was reading 75F - it definitely did not feel 75F. Other than that, I have nothing to complain about! Our total was $80 for 2 round-trip tickets which I thought was very fair/cheap especially compared to Greyhound, Peter Pan, or the Bolt (all were significantly more expensive for this weekend). We definitely plan on taking the Go Bus again! read more

Just discovered these guys. I live 5 minutes from Alewife, so this kicks ass. Much ass. Yes, the schedule is much more limited than Megabus or Bolt Bus. But the convenience of being dropped off 5 minutes from home trumps that. Also, if you live in Brookline/Brighton, the bus stops at Riverside, so that's probably more convenient for you, too. They pick up in Manhattan on the next block over from the other guys. Maybe once more people start taking WWB, the schedules will improve. I do feel obliged to mention the difficulties on my trip, though. There was some problem with the bus and we had to pull off the highway in CT and get the bus fixed. Not much communication, but the driver did tell us that much and we were only off the road for about a half an hour. We were running ahead of schedule, so it all worked out. I will definitely be taking WWB on my next NYC trip! read more

My bus ride with World Wide was a whole eight dollars cheaper than the Mega Bus fare I'd paid to travel to New York several days earlier, and the ride was faster as well as more comfortable. It picks up in Manhattan, right in front of the huge post office by Penn Station- very convenient for sending last-minute mailings! The company has a pretty limited schedule at the moment, at 4 trips between New York and metro Boston per day (I guess that's about the same as Greyhound, actually), which can make it less convenient than the Chinatown busses or their newer (to this region), slightly more expensive competition lines, Mega and Bolt. The cost makes it worth considering a less convenient time. It felt like one of the luckier, smoother rides on the hit-or-miss Mega and Bolt, but for Fung Wah/ Lucky Star prices. And I found Cambridge or the west end of the green line to be more convenient drop-off locations than South Station anyway. Recommended! read more

Customer Service: RUDE RUDE RUDE I don't think anyone deserves to be scolded, or have an attitude towards for any reason. Yes we missed our first bus by 5 minutes one morning and of course that was a bummer, but we didn't freak out we just called to see if we could get on another bus at another time. We took the blame so no worries. The first women I talked to was very polite and helpful! Having never worked with this bus service before we had no clue how it operated. As we shouldn't because we are the customers paying for a service. Long story short she was very helpful but communication got lost on my part as well as hers And we lost our reservation for that day, but still had our tickets booked for the way back from New York. So we got on our 12:00 bus and the driver yelled At everyone waiting to board because some people were too close to the curb. He got out and yelled " do you want to go to New York or do you want to go upstairs" is that a threat?? So then he checked tickets when we were seated and said we needed to buy a ticket again... Well I got refunded from missing our first bus, and we are scheduled for 12:00 today. Well I guess we were not... So I called to inquire and see how we can fix it.... Women #2 was RUDE RUDE RUDE. She was decent on the phone and told us to get a ticket in the Newton stop.... ( I was unaware there was a ticket office there... So I inquired) I get there and this is the convo: Sweet me: Hi I need to buy a 12:00 ticket to New York Women 2: were you the one I talked to on the phone. Me: yes. She walks away. The bus driver Laughs at me : you missed your first bus Me: Yes by 5 minutes! I'm just seeing if I can get a ticket Women #2: YOU NEED TO BE PATIENT, she's getting it for you. and points to a women in an office You should have been there 15 minutes before, the bus leaves right on time. Me: I'm just stressed. I know we tried we got stuck in traffic #2: You should have planned better traffic is bad blah blah blah. Then I tried to pay and they said they put it back on my boyfriends card... They charged him double. Who talks like that??? I am so turned off my this company. Corporate will be hearing from me. ***on our way back from NY the bus driver is efficient and quiet. Found plugs to charge our phones on this bus and we never had to deal with customer service. So good experience on the way home! :) read more

Terrible is an understatement. Driver should be fired First, the bus driver told my older aunts who sat in the front to shut up and go sit in the back if they wanted to talk. FYI they had not said a word since they got on the bus. Then he stopped in the middle of the highway so he could go to the bathroom in the back. The highlight of all this was when he yelled at me on the bus at Newton that I told him I was getting off in Newton and that He had brought all the luggage down and he had to put them all back under the bus. He further yelled that I was not nice and what I did was very RUDE. I was surprised. I told the ticket guy that our destination was Cambridge. I did not told him anything. When I got off the bus and saw my luggage like have been thrown into the other side of the bus. This is way of line. How could a company allow their staff to speak to a customer or act the way that he did to us? read more

Very bad service. On my way from New York to Newton, the bus had no outlets and they no longer offer water. The trip took more than 5 hours without traffic. I asked for a ticket exchange on my way back because my schedule changed. The female at the newton station was extremely rude and unfriendly. I know the policy is not to exchange tickets but can you be more friendly at explaining the rules? I will never take the gobus again. Better to go with bolt bus or amtrak for better services. read more

I bought 2 round trip ticket for ONLY $43 from NY to Boston using Groupon Vouchers. A great deal! What even greater is my experience with World Wide. I and girlfriend . I cannot be more happy with what I got. The vehicle is nice and clean; the people are nice; free bottle watter, wifi and power outlet. In fact, I like World Wide even better than Bolt. Definitely will use it again if I am going to Boston read more

I'm in a giving mood, so here's a free promotion for Worldwide Bus... First off, I'm writing this from the bus itself, meaning there is both internet and power. The free water bottle was a nice touch too. Background, I do the Boston-NYC trip often and it's hard to find a last minute spot on the Bolt bus these days, so I saw a Worldwide Bus driving around once and decided to look into it. $20, sure thing. Day before I had to move my bus time, called them up. Very nice and gracious customer rep changed my ticket free of charge (apologies to the company, I probably shouldn't say that) Bottom Line: There's about 20 people on the bus, day before thanksgiving. Best part is, we drove by the Megabus line which was literally two blocks long. Those people are misearble. Those who do the Boston-NYC bus thing, I recommend it. read more

Pros: 1. Location (could be a con, depending on where you're headed) -- I work near Harvard Square, so going to Alewife or South Station doesn't make too much of a difference for me if I'm boarding a bus from work. Both stations have hobos and fast-food restaurants, so you're going to get the same experience either way. Beware, they don't really have employees at the Alewife Station, so make sure to stand near the gate and keep an eye out when the bus pulls up. They'll check your ticket at Newton, usually. Good location for anybody who lives in Somerville/Cambridge. The bus then chugs from Alewife to Newton at the Riverside T stop to board most of its passengers. This is where you'll get your free swag (BOTTLED WATER!). Super convenient if you live on the D line or suburbia Boston. 2. Prices: I took GoBuses in a fit of desperation when I couldn't find any other reasonably priced bus to NYC. They typically price their tickets at $20 on Fridays/Sundays, and $15 on other days. 3. Service: The ticket-checkers are super friendly and cracked jokes while we were in NYC to a bus full of Boston-born passengers about how great the Knicks were (he got a lone' WOO!' from me). I also bought tickets in the wrong direction (dur) one time, and promptly got a refund when I gave them a call. Easy! Cons: 1. Route(.. like I said, could be a pro, depending on where you're headed): The stop at Newton really does add a good 20-30 minutes to your ride if you're headed to Alewife, which can really take a toll on you if you're straddling the 4 and 5 hour mark of your bus ride. 2. Bus Frequency: They don't run as many buses as their main competitors down at South Station, but the times are convenient and they don't really sell their rides out. read more

So this is my first time in gobus from Alewife to Manhattan. Going to Manhattan, the bus left on time and we reached on time. But the bus was not good. Very stiff and straight seats. Not comfortable at all. The real story is while coming back. There was one wheelchair passenger. The bus was wheelchair accessible but neither the driver nor the staff was able to operate the slider for that (or it was not in working condition, idk). So after half an hour delay, they announced that the bus is not good to go and another bus will be here in 3 mins. New bus came and they were not able to figure it out in that as well. The bus started an hour and a half (1.5) late. The driver and the staff were polite but delay was just too much for me. Non of the passengers spoke up to this delayed departure, except for me. And I am still in the bus writing this. It's been six hours already and I am not at Alewife. So good luck with gobus. read more

Left my class at Harvard got to Alewife @7:45, skinned my knee running and falling trying to make the 7:45 departure. little did I know it had left at 7:30. yay for professionalism....when the bus is not full&your tired and it's your last run....#JUSLEAVE screw the passengers that believe it's a 7:45 departure. read more

Terrible customer service. They do not respond to emails and there is rarely ever anyone via the phone to answer your questions even though they are supposed to have daily service. Also extremely unsafe bus drivers. I have seen them eat while driving multiple times. Another time we almost went into a tunnel that was too small for the bus, we were on a PEDESTRIAN highway! read more

Everything I said before still stands but here's an update: Through various trips on this bus I have come to doubt the drivers some what. The staff is friendly and professional, but I have experienced drivers chatting on their phones and driving a bit erratically. I find that on Worldwide Bus I feel a tad less secure about the driving abilities of the drivers though I realize it's not easy to navigate big rigs like these. I'll still be taking this bus since I live nearer to Alewife than S Station, but if the opposite were true, I'd stick with Bolt. read more

Bear in mind that my expectations were very low and to avoid being influenced by over excitement I have subtracted one star from my rating. As a frequent Boston - NYC commuter I have tried most buses and was always reluctant to take Go Buses, partly because its brand is not as strong and because the pick up/drop off point is not south station. However, when my friend forgot to book our tickets I was happy to try whatever could bring me home in time. Here is the summary of my experience: - The bus left almost on time - The wifi was inconsistent - The driver was initially rude to a fellow driver but after that the ride was very smooth - The bus was too cold, not sure why the A/C was so strong - The bus was clean but smelled of chemical products Major minus: it has no outlets and less leg room than megabus and boltbus Which is partly compensated by the above seat space for your bags. I will most likely use it again if boltbus and megabus because of those minuses. Other than that it was a decent experience. read more

I'd bought this through a groupon with a $24 round trip NY to BOS ticket. Good Facilities, nice clean seats, and surprisingly clean bathrooms (for bus standards) Good Drivers: Nice timing, no crazy breaks Other Notes: Strong Wifi ....while it lasted. Nice Water Bottles for passengers. Have your electronics charged fully as some of the seat plugs do not work. but.... BEWARE OF THE CRAZY @$$ Luggage man. As my friend and I boarded the bus, he asked us our names to verify our information on his passenger list. All my friend asked was "Do you want our confirmation number too?" and then, all hell broke loose. It was so ridiculous I wanted to start laughing. It was as if we flipped a switched. He started shouting about how how he hated boston people and boston people are so weird and he hated bostoners. 1. We are not from boston, we just go to school there. 2. Even if you do hate boston, this is probably not the best place to rant, considering you'll be taking a bus load of boston people back. 3. You didn't even check our names in the end.... so much for doing your job right. Both my friend and I were pretty shocked, and I probably would have started bitching out. But considering I would be on the bus for teh next 4.5 hours, I decided to let my ego go. We made sure he placed our luggege in the compartment, and proceeded to board bus in meek silence.... wisfully hoping in our hearts that this mad man would not be the driver. Thankfully he was not. 4 for service, -2 for the crazy mad luggage man. too bad. so sad. read more

I am truly a fan. Sure, I wish I didn't have to ever take a bus, ever, ever again unless having fun on vacation. But alas I do. All the years I lived in Boston, and this barely existed until right before I moved away. There was/is the Wung Fa (that cant be correct) but it's the chinatown bus from the Boston train station to Penn Station (?). That bus is a dump, always crowded and difficult to navivate ticket buying. The Go Bus is a joy compared to that... I have used Go Bus a few times now between Cambridge and NYC. The Alewife station is super convenient for me since I always stay with friends in Arlington! The busses are rarely full to the brim - I usually have the seat next to me at least. The bus was quite late on one trip but not too bad on the others. The price last year was $15, I see it's $18 now during off peak days/hours. Still not bad at all. Peter Pan charges $20 to Port Authority, and Amtrak gets $73 for the same trip. Highway robbery! The trip does take a while - I can drive it in 3.75 hours, but it takes them about 5. So be it. The worst part is once you get into manhattan - how long it seems to take to get to your destination when all you wanna do is stretch/smoke... run! And if you're getting into NY after 12pm on a Friday afternoon, expect to be stuck in traffic and extra hour or two. That's life in the big city, kids. I learned my lesson! But hey, it's a bus... how quick do you think it's going to go? Did I mention it was a bus? But this bus does generally have wifi that works - I think it always has for me. And that is a HUGE deal. Outlets, water and a clean (albeit tiny) restroom. Does it sometimes even have a movie? My experience with drivers has been mediocre to wonderful. A lovely man drove us from ny to cambridge and addressed us all before the trip, he was super nice and funny! I really have no complaints about this service and am super-glad it exists. I only wish they had more stops... maybe New Haven or Stamford so I could visit some other old stomping grounds without paying an arm and a leg for a less superior trip. read more

Pathetic experience of customer service, entire digital media channels are just one way communication as they don't reply to queries. I have read most of the reviews and found that Go Bus has rude attitude towards customers. I have noticed that when bus is late, Go Bus doesn't compensate customers of their fault bus if the passenger is late, S/he is penalized! Management doesn't listen or doesn't care about customers feedback which shows the organization will not grow for the owners/ manager don't know the business, being in the business of service, they need to listen to and take customer feedback seriously! read more

It's 9:00 on Friday night and I'm rolling through dark Manhattan on my own private bus and we're blasting Run DMC's Hard Times. Flares burn in the roads and the Empire State Building, the only visible one with power, blazes as a beacon. Everything else is black. This is New York after Sandy, and I'm on Go Bus, and they've agreed to drop me off in Brooklyn on the way to their bus yard tonight after the Boston to Manhattan run. They gain nothing by doing this; they're just helping out as best they can. I've been traveling to New York every other week for almost a year now; if you're looking for an expert on buses, you're in the right place. I feel 100% qualified to tell you that none of the other bus lines would have done this. They would have dropped me into the Dead Zone and left me to deal with block-long shuttle lines and gasless taxis. But Todd from Go has made several stops already, letting people off at a few different places in upper Manhattan where the subways are still running, and now he's taking me right to the F train. He's gone way above and beyond, and his company is behind him. Plus, this is a very nice bus. And there's free bottled water; that's not because of Sandy, they just do that. They leave from Alewife (and Newton), so if that's not convenient for you you might be stuck with one of the other guys. The other guys are all terrible. Especially Greyhound; that company goes out of their way to treat you like shit. Sucks to be you. If you can get to Alewife, it's worth it. Go Bus has my undying loyalty. These guys are working. read more

GoBus was the worst of worst experience ever. I booked at 1pm, and I arrived little earlier. I was waiting more than 20 minutes and the bus didn't show up. The worst thing is there was no one would explain what's going on. I wasted my money and time. So, I bought new ticket through greyhound. I had to check reviews about Gobus before having purchased. Some reviews are same as my situation. I'm so mad. read more

This is the best bus company that offers trips from Boston area to NYC! They leave from either Alewife station in Cambridge or Riverside station in Newton and go direct to NYC (Penn Station). The staff is super nice. We were offered a complimentary bottle of water when we got on. In addition, the driver offered us pillows to make us more comfortable. This company is the epitomy of customer service! While stuck in traffic in NYC, the driver even let some people out sooner (before we got to Penn) since it was more convenient for them. The driver was also very mindful of time and made every effort to get us to NYC ontime even on a Friday afternoon. He ended up being 10 min late which is totally reasonable for a Friday! The only reason for not giving 5 stars is because the WiFi was pretty shotty. But otherwise, great company, great staff! read more

Go Buses - This is how awesome they are! - Buses Near Me - Cambridge, Massachusetts

This is my first time riding a bus to NYC and I was pleasantly surprised. The bus was clean and drivers both to and from were courteous. It was early both when it picked us up from Cambridge and NYC, but it left on time. And, yes, you get a free bottle of water and we got a subway map for when we got to NYC. We took the 8:00pm bus back to Cambridge and arrived EARLY, meaning the T was till running and we could take it home. That was awesome. There was one small glitch that I should be open about: It looks like they may have overbooked by 4 people. They asked if anyone was willing to give up their seat (and wait for the one arriving in an hour) and they would get a free ticket int he future. One girl offered up her seat, but another bus arrived and everyone departed on time. So, all was well. read more

Anytime you take a bus from NYC to Boston, it's a crapshoot. Sometimes they're good; sometimes they're bad. In general, GoBus is the best of the bunch -- they give you free bottled water, and the buses I've taken have always been on time. It beats the Bolt, which is usually late, and hopping on your tongue beats the MegaBus. I've been riding the GoBus for about three years, once every couple of months. I'd say the WiFi works *maybe* 25% of the time, and it's agonizingly slow. Don't count on using it. NYC to Boston buses make me determined to get a better job so I can afford the Acela. Mmmm, Amtrak. read more

Deplorable customer service, 1 hour hold up en route, and no WiFi We were delayed 60-70 minutes in Newton, MA because a warning light came on and the bus had to "regenerate" at high idle. While we were waiting the WiFi signal was lost. When I asked an employee she told me the driver had turned it off and then gabbed with another Go Bus employee and the driver on the curb for the next (and the previous, for that matter) 25 minutes. After we left the driver couldn't turn it on and told me "they did something to it" in Newton (we had WiFi for 20 minutes from Cambridge to Newton). So we had no WiFi the whole way to NYC for four hours because wasting 25 minutes chatting (and apparently not mentioning the lost WiFi to the driver, or the two mechanics) with one's co-workers is more important than providing customer service -even when asked. I would think that her sensitivity and responsiveness to the needs and requests of passengers would have been heightened under these circumstances. read more

Used them today to get from NY to Cambridge. Pretty decent. Clean, water was offered. Paid $10 on the spot and was on my way to Boston. It's awesome for the money, the only thing is that I felt a bit cramped in the sit, but the sit next to me was empty. Oh, and the driver was seriously making sure that noone talked on their cellphones, which I found a bit amusing, but it worked nicely for me as I could sleep without listening to the mad men/women talking. read more

It typically takes 4 hours to get to New York from Boston on a good day.... This bus takes roughly 6 hours to get there ! And back !!! That's because they stop in Newton , stop in Providence Rhode Island, annnddd Connecticut. They don't take any breaks. So your legs will get tired , you will get hungry, and you will wonder why the typical Coach bus takes 4 -5 hours WITH a break and this bus doesn't. It's honestly not worth it. Stick to the busses coming in and out of South Station. It's not worth the pick up from Alwife . It's NOT luxury. It's literally like any other coach bus but takes longer . read more

My ride back from Cambridge to New York was better than my ride in the other direction. The bus was relatively empty on a Sunday afternoon and I was able to get a seat with no seat made. There was a traffic, but it looked like the driver took some sides streets to go around it. I was actually a little nervous that we were lost until I realized the route he was taking. The bus was comfortable enough. For 22 bucks, it's a pretty good way to travel on a budget. I also love that the station is at Alewife, since my friends live close by and I don't have to deal with South Station. Also, if you look on yelp there is a promo code (which I didn't realize when I booked, frown). read more

Driver's actions were not professional, not compassionate and not smart! My friends drove me to Alewife Station about 25 minutes before departure. I searched for the bus, walked up to the driver and asked him if I can buy tickets on the spot instead of online so that I drive back with my friends in case it's all booked or something. He says yes and asks me to meet him at the pickup location. I tell him ok, and go back to my friends' car to bring my stuff and say bye. As I'm walking towards the bus, he drives off 13 minutes before departure time! I was sick and had to carry my luggage on the shuttle then T (red line wasn't working from Alewife to Harvard) all the way to South Station to take a more reliable bus called Bolt Bus. My friends tell me later that they saw the bus stopped by a cafe. There's a Dunkin donuts in Alewife BTW. I don't know why people do things like that. read more

I've had about 6 trips with Go Bus, and from that I'll share The Good: buses are in reasonable condition, affordable, and more or less leave on time The Bad: the bus pickup locations are horribly marked and quite difficult to find and the customer service center is not equipped to deal with the fallout. On my latest (almost) trip from New York to Washington DC this issue bit me for the first time. I arrived 10 minutes before my scheduled departure and literally stood underneath the sign for the cross streets which were listed on my ticket as the pickup location (9th ave x 30th st). There was no bus to be seen. I begin to panic. I double checked the ticket for the date, location, or anything which might suggest I had made an error. Nope, all information checked out. I began walking down a block in each direction from the intersection, seeing if I could find some sort of clue. I had time to check down the block in 2 directions before my departure time came around. I then see a GO bus drive up and zip around a corner onto a small side street with lower elevation that runs parallel to 30th st. I run after the bus into this hidden loading area, but it was actually the wrong bus and mine had already left. The driver wasn't able to offer me passage on an alternative bus. I had to drop $91 on an Amtrak 5 hours after my original departure time. When I called GO bus seeking a credit, they refused. It's mind boggling that they list an intersection from which the bus isn't even visible. If you ever ride GO bus, make sure you arrive 25 minutes early so that you can scour the neighborhood for the secret departure location of these illusive buses. The Washington DC pickup is literally marked with a taped up cardboard sign attached to a parking meter - I'm not joking. The time and money I lost from GO Bus's poor signage and inability to give adequate directions to their pickup location has confirmed that I will never be using their service again, even if I have to pay a bit more for Megabus or Bolt. read more

My scheduled bus was at 5:30 PM, and I sat at Berth 6 in Alewife station, which has been the Berth that Gobuses take off of for a long time now. There was a sign at the Berth which even said "GoBuses". I, and a couple of people I met waiting there, stood at Berth 6 for over 2 hours until a young lady walked over to inform us that she just missed her bus, and that apparently the new take-off location was at Berth 12. She showed us a sign located near Berth 12 that stated that now GoBuses were to be leaving from there. Now, here's the part I don't understand. Why was there not a sign at Berth 6 that would redirect us to Berth 6? Secondly, apparently this change occurred a few days ago, and some customers back then had also missed their bus...why didn't that teach them to make it clearer? At the time that I left to buy a new ticket to NY, there were a total of 17 people who had missed their bus with us. I decided against continuing on the next bus, as I was certain that we'd get kicked off at Riverside. Two simple things Gobuses could have done: 1) Put a sign at Berth 6 telling us to go to Berth 12. 2) Utilize our phone numbers and/or email addresses to inform us of the location change. Neither was done, and now I've wasted money on this ticket, and the second ticket I have to buy to get to NY now. I'd very much like a refund, not just for my gobus ticket, but for the replacement I had to pay as well. Needless to say, unless this is made right, I won't be riding these buses anymore. read more

Gobus is a nice bus, the staff was very good . It was on TIME. Staff member distributed water bottles for free and also cleaned the lavatory and apologized for the little foul smell which was coming earlier. Stopped the bus twice for passengers to take some food for the journey. All in one very good bus service, i highly recommend GoBuses.com read more

No hassle at all. Cheap, punctual, clean. Their parking is a little hard to find, but there are clear instructions on how to find it online. Apart from that, it's very good. read more

I was supposed to be on 6:am bus on Sunday October 7th. They changed my reservation without not telling me. My volunteer and I was there at 5:30am awaiting for the 6:am bus. No bus came. I called the office @ 7am. The rep told me that my reservation was changed to 7:30 am. That I was to come back @ 2:30pm. I told her no that I am taking 80 years old to see New York Manhattan. The rep changed my time to 7:pm not asking me it that was ok. I was only going for three hours not seven hours. I sent email asking for them to re send me the email about them changing my reservation. I didn't get answer from any one. This is bad customer services. The ride to New York was ok. GoBuses will not give you any information who to contact. They are not nice people. read more
