A poor experience. I ordered online where they claimed to offer a BOGO discount. I went to pick up the items and was told my order was canceled because they did not have the turmeric tablets (that showed in stock). They had OTHER turmeric tablets though. Could I buy those? Sure. Would I get the BOGO discount? "Oh no, that's for online orders only." Later that night I got an email saying my order was canceled , they had neither of the items in stock. Offer discount, cancel the order, sell at full price once the customer arrives. Not a great business model, GNC. read more

Someone named Nathan has helped me twice at this location. He has been extremely helpful and knowledgeable about various products sold in the store. He also helped my friend identify vegan products to help increase her energy throughout the day. The store is also well organized and clean. I would recommend this location to anyone. read more

Fine place, but with a very pushy salesman who on separate visits kept denigrating the product I was trying to buy so he could sell me something he was getting paid to promote. One time is okay, but when I pushed back the second time he told me it was his job as a salesman to keep pointing out the flaws in the product that his store actually sells! I told him about the concept of selling past the sale, and then I gave him a lesson in it by walking out and ordering the product for $10 cheaper on Amazon. I would have bought it every week from GNC due to convenience, but not if I have to be sold to that way. read more

I love this location here, Nathan was incredibly helpful and super informative, this place definitely gained a new regular!

Nate is awesome, super helpful and knowledgeable. Amazing GNC location, would highly recommend if you have any gym questions and needs.

Very nice employee assisted on everything I needed kept asking if I needed help best GNC I've been in. Nate's very nice

I frequent the GNC chain in another city but stopped here quickly while out of town. I was terribly disappointed with the customer service and inventory. Three generations of my family have managed GNCs and are also in the fitness industry so walking in here to ask if they had a specific item in their inventory and immediately be told that it's "not the best product" showed me the staff here needs training. Also telling me that they don't take any corporate coupons seems like he just wanted to bump his sales. GNC is better than the experience I got from him. read more

I don't know what that other guy was smoking but Nate didn't oversell me, he gave me outstanding service and more information than any other GNC store that I've been to. If I could give him 10 stars I would. read more

Nate is super friendly and welcoming. He's very knowledgeable about all the products I had questions on. I will definitely come back to this location. read more

Nathan was super helpful and helped me with all my needs. He even educated me on supplements and is extremely knowledgeable and willing to help. read more

I went into GNC today and got outstanding customer service by Nathan. He was very well informed on the products and super knowledgeable. He seems pretty fit as well so I would take his advice haha. Over all great service and vibes. read more

Nathan at the counter is genuinely just a bad seller. Gave me a rant about other pre workouts I clearly didn't want to buy, and when I respectfully told him I liked my decision, continued to tell my how my decision was "crappy" and "wouldn't get me far". Tried starting an argument and failed. I shouldn't have even purchased and left, but was so embarrassed for him that I paid and left. Big difference between helpful and just being annoying and rude. Not coming back ever again read more

Absolute garbage customer service! Went in today to exchange a product that almost gave me a heart attack. I explained I was out of the country on business and couldn't have come in the 30 day window. The guy basically told me too bad and wouldn't help at all. Been going here for quite some time and spend a lot of money there. read more

They are price gouging Prime energy drinks selling them at $4.99 when they are $2-2.50 dollars in others stores. It's honestly disgusting that places will do this because of their location. read more

Great customer service! This is the only GNC store that carries the pre-workout I like! I'm sad that they don't carry it at Greenhouse plaza in HAYWARD! It will be so close to me. read more

Do not waste your money at this store. This GNC is the worst ever! They refuse to provide returns, or even store credit on spoiled products that they sell. Their personnel is unprofessional and argumentative; clearly, the employees do not have any experience with customer service principles and techniques. I spoke with an employee who reluctantly identified himself as Nathan, about returning some perishable items that were spoiled, he interrupted me, became argumentative, refused to listen to what I had to say by continuously talking over me and the laughed! When I mentioned that I have been a longtime customer, supporting their business throughout the years, including the pandemic, Nathan laughed. I was shocked by his demeanor and lack of professionalism. I told him that I would be reporting this incident and filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and that his laughter was not an appropriate response to a customer concern, he continued to laugh and retorted, "I will laugh all I want!" May the last laugh be on him and the owner of this establishment, as they won't be in business much longer with these shoddy practices. Unfortunately, I have to post a star to proceed. But if there was a negative star equivalent, this place would be a -5. Reviewed by Julian D. read more

Do not go to this store. This store charged me twice for one har of $47 protein and would not issue a refund for the incorrect additional charge. After receiving advice from an associate to come in the day after this occurred, I came to find out that the owner would not approve refunding me the money. There is security camera footage of me purchasing one jar of protein powder, there is evidence of this also in my bank account. I was told by an associate that one one was reported out of inventory- next day there are 2 out of inventory!? It is possible Someone took home a $47 jar of protein powder on my dime. Basically I got charged twice for one expensive item i purchased and the store refused to do anything about it. I had to contact my bank and GNC customer service to get my money back. I don't recommend interacting with this business. read more

Nate gave me some pretty terrible service. Told me that it was gonna take some time to ring me up and I said it wasn't a big deal that I drove pretty far to get a product and needed it, he said it wasn't his fault that I drove so far. I'll be taking my biz online. I don't even know why I bothered to take in person. read more

The last two times I've tried to go buy protein, the store has been closed past the posted opening hours. Today, there was another person also standing outside the door waiting for them to open well after 10am. So if you plan to take time out of your work schedule to visit this GNC, it's probably a good idea to call ahead and find out if they'll be open. read more

Shopping for supplements or vitamins give me anxiety sometimes so it's nice to be able to go into a store where you can talk to people who are knowledgeable, helpful, and stock exactly what you need. The Piedmont location is fantastic. Compared to other GNC's I have been to, this location is easy to navigate and doesn't make you feel overwhelmed by product, which I can appreciate. I walked in and was greeted by a big smile from James who helped me find exactly what I needed - I got the vibe that he knew his stuff. I'll definitely be back. TL;DR: Great location. Great customer service. Check it out. read more

Just confused by the fact that something listed online for $20 costs $37 in store. Seriously? Piedmont isn't THAT cute. read more

GNC - Right? - Health Markets Near Me - Oakland, California

This location just recently got new owners. At first I was hesitant because the previous owners were so great. BUT! to my surprise I had yet another great visit to GNC. It definitely looks more organized. I was helped by Jimmy and he really knew his stuff! He didn't make me feel pressured or overload me with a ton of information. He helped me pick a supplement my sister recommended and also hooked it up with a couple samples. I'm so glad he did because I ended up coming back and returning my original product to the sample he recommended! I know I'm going to be a lifelong customer here. HIGHLY recommend this GNC! read more

I recently started to get back into fitness and working out again, I work up the street from GNC so I decided to check it out. James was super helpful and knowledgeable with helping me pick my next preworkout which was cardio cuts and now I'm hooked! This place is also my go to for my all my protein snacks and vitamins. Bottom line, great customer service and have all supplies for your fitness needs! read more

came here on Christmas Eve and needed to get some stuff for a friend but had no idea what he took. the sales guy looked up my friends account and told me exactly what he was taking so I was able to get him the right stuff! :) and they had a huge selection of energy drinks and as an EMT I drink energy drinks regularly so I stocked up! read more

3/31/19, Hours are supposed to be 10-7 on Sunday(according to hrs posted at the location). It's now 10:12 and this store has yet to open.

I went there today around 4pm, there was a closed sign out front saying back in 45min. Arbitrary hours are really lame and unprofesional. This is not a mom and pop joint. These coporations think they can have shoddy service just because it is Oakland, but in fact this is a market where we have a choice. When they are open they also go overboard with trying to upsize you and give a lot of unwanted, pushy sales spiels. AVOID. read more

3.5 stars really. I feel like you have to be very careful when you go into these stores. You should know what you want and not get distracted by fancy packaging or what the sales person says. The sales people are nice enough, but they are interested in making the largest sale possible and will talk about peptides this and protein that and absorption rates. It makes me uncomfortable when non-doctors talk about all this science that is supposedly behind their products because at the end of the day, I will be ingesting it and don't like the idea of taking a million different pills/chemicals for what sometimes feels like quack-science reasons (and unlike a doctor, it's in the interest of these salespeople to sell me on every product in the store, which means I have to be my own advocate). Still, I got what I wanted and actually really like the product so I can't complain. Also, I liked the fact that a lot of different people came into the store. I didn't feel like it was just for a bunch of meatheads. read more

Mariano was great, this guy definitely knows his stuff. Very friendly, very personable, and excellent customer service. Talk about loving your job and what you do, he is a prime example of what a work drive should be. I'll definitely be back especially knowing that someone with knowledge works here. Just popped in to GNC after my workout to get some fat burning supplements. Corrine (sorry if it's not spelt correct) helped me out. Excited to try out my new products and will definitely be going there again :) read more

Your Coupons are NOT WELCOME here! I have been going to this GNC for over 6 years now, when Dan and his brother (and mom) were the owners. Never had a bad experience until now. NEW MGMT GIVES HORRIBLE SERVICE. They sign you up for ALL the GNC Rewards Programs (coupons/mags) yet DO NOT HONOR ANY of them. Sales associate claims "we lose money" and "call customer service" if you have a dispute. No manager on site, and when he was called he refused to speak over the phone. What's the point of racking up rewards IF YOU CANNOT USE THEM?! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my vita-pak program (Women's Ripped) but will never be purchasing here again. read more

Response to owner: if TWO of the FIVE types of pills included in the pack are indeed in the weight loss section of the website, then I would have appreciated the salesman to sell me those two products in light of the fact that I told him at least once in our discussion that I have been unemployed for several months and was trying to find a cost effective plan at GNC. Thank you for offering to exchange. However. . . this was my first time going into any vitamin/supplement store and I was taken back by how sales-driven the person working there was (i.e., after I told him I was unemployed, he kept trying to sell me other supplements, totally unrelated to weight loss). I have no desire to go back and so I will swallow the cost. Thanks for the offer just the same. read more

I went here not to long ago by way of suggestion. While I usually don't have many problems with GNC stores, this one I kinda do. From the looks of it, this particular store is independently owned, thus, there pricing varies, and not for the better. Prices here for particular items could be easily ten dollars more than that of the same store in downtown Oakland. On top of that, half of what I was looking for was not in stock, with no clue of when it could be. From now on, ill stick to the cookie cutter franchise stores; better service, better selection, better prices. read more

I like to go online and browse before I buy . Here w was no exception. Had looked at 5 or 6 items online that I wanted to pick up in store. The less time in stores the better. I go in and wouldn't you know it, they only have 1 ( coconut oil) item i'm looking for. Staff was nice but what good is store for if you don't have the product you're selling online. read more

Great business. Family owned GNC francise. William the co-owner helped me today and he was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable. He listened to my concerns and questions and took the time to go over all ingredients from each thing he suggested. I'm excited to start working out and using the various supplements he suggested. Thank you GNC! I will post an update in a month or so to see which products worked. Support this local business. You won't be disappointed. read more

Phone recording says they're open at 9. Yelp says 10. 10:15 and no sign of life in the store. No notice about unusual hours. All super convenient to plan a morning around. Guess I'm off to another GNC cause no one seems to open this store. read more

"Dan the Man" was very knowledgable and took the time (as much needed to get my questions answered) to address all of our nutritional/supplement needs. I went into his family's store today for the first time. With certain items, he was reasonable on pricing/somewhat flexible (I did spend close to $300+ for me and my wife). I'll definitely go back. Additionally, the store was clean, well stocked and organized. read more
