We had to stop in here while running errands to grab a protein shake (since I forgot them at home...) and were pleasantly surprised that the chilled ones were buy two get one free. Seems a small thing, I know, but we wouldn't have known unless the helpful salesperson hadn't clued us in. I offered my GNC Goldcard, but she said the savings were greater with her deal. Refreshing! I love it when you're "allowed" to get a "secret" deal (OK, it's probably the same deal for everyone, but I didn't have an email/text/or coupon to get the sale price) I like GNC for some of their proprietary stuff (like the RTD LeanShake) and this one looked like it was a well stocked location. :) Preesh! read more

Inside of store less than 2 minutes and received the worst service and believe it or not it was from the manager, Muhammad Haroon. I walked in and inquired somethings first to make sure I was in the right place. When I think of GNC I think protein supplements not necessarily vitamins. I do recall always seeing a vitamin aisle in CVS or something. So before I started on my long list of vitamins I wanted to pick up and after I was greeted very aggressively, I asked if this was the best place or a CVS. Muhammad very rudely, corrected me, letting me know that I was not in a CVS and they do not sell drugs. Very confused by the remark I let him know I was very aware of what place I was in and very politely told him I didn't appreciate the abrupt or condescending tone in which he was addressing me. Which leads him to even more aggressively ask me, "What do you want?" He was never polite and extremely rude. I even tried to give him benefit of doubt but saying if he was having a bad day I get it but the level of service and attitude I was getting was uncalled for. He emphatically tells him that he is fine and does not have any attitude and proceeds to go back to the aggressive "Tell me what want!" At this point probably right at about the 2 min mark of being in the store, I told him never mind, that I would just spend my money else where. He didn't care either way and actually walked away from me before I was even able to finish. There was no yelling on my part, just confusion. I asked if he was the manager/owner and he said he was the manager. I asked for the owner info he refused and said I had enough information and walked away again. I was very perplexed. You see, I own a business with a staff of 4. If any of my employee's spoke to a customer in the manner he did, they would be fired by me. I wasn't sure if I was experiencing rudeness or direct racism. It really rocked me. So I left and went to The Vitamin Shoppe on Ventura Blvd and a lovely associate named Jenny helped me greatly and I spent the close to $100 in supplements there instead. I wish Muhammad had just said he was having a bad morning instead, that would have sat better with me. And after calling a Burbank location and talking to another very dry sounding person to get the corporate number, I decided to no longer take my business to GNC. The Vitamin Shoppe experience made me feel better again, but the unexplainable, potential racism I received I will not forget. read more

I live about a block from this GNC location so I stop in semi-regularly. This is a great store! The staff, especially Mohammed, is really very helpful and friendly. Today, Mohammed was super-patient with me as I asked a ton of questions about the various BCAA's they sell. He spoke with me about my pre- during- and post-workout routine to help me decide what product(s) I may want, and he even let me try a sample of a few different powders to help decide which consistency/flavor I like best. I felt confident in the product I finally chose, and Mohammed gave me a free sample for a different item that I may want to buy in the near future. A lot of others I've been to have employees that make people feel too intimidated to ask questions or just seem very unapproachable and uninterested in helping customers. but the employees here at this location are SO nice and always seem more than willing to help. He isn't just trying to push supplements, he actually tries to help and explains exactly why i should or shouldn't take certain supplements based i my activity and what i already take, which I really appreciate. I went in mid-week to pick up some Oil of Oregano liquid drops, only to be told by the young lady that they were out of it. It happens, so i didn't panic and she said to come back Friday when she is getting in a shipment of it in! Friday rolls around and I stopped on early afternoon, seeing a bunch of boxes on the floor! YAY!...I THOUGHT! She came out and told me that she has to get the right paperwork and asked if i could come in Saturday (2/16) morning. She promised me she would have it and that I should come first thing in the morning. Saturday comes around and I waited till about Noon to show up just to give them time to open all those boxes filled with my Oil of Oregano. The third time is the charm, right? A very nice young man came out to greet me and I explained my anticipation of finally getting my Oil of Oregano. He's looking at all the paperwork from the boxes and rechecks and tells me there is no Oil of Oregano. After explaining how I was promised that I would have it Sat. he called (I presume) the young lady I dealt with.She verified with him that there was no Oil of Oregano. While on the phone with her, and the other phone line ringing, another customer walked into the store. Someone the associate I was talking with seemed to know, (perhaps a returning customer). They shared a a few pleasantries and I was dismissed. I thanked him for calling her, and again he apologized, being content to let me walk out the door without my Oil of Oregano; without a rain-check; without checking their other stores inventory; without ANY attempt to keep me as a customer. Being content to let me walk out the door. To which I exclaimed that I would just have to get it somewhere else. Which was met with indifference as he was already engaging the other customer. Having worked retail, I always remembered this little tid-bit: On average, a person will tell 24 people about a bad customer service experience they have (customers who have a good customer service experience will tell on average 17 people). Guess what GNC? I am down to 22 people...and it's only Sunday! It is now Sunday afternoon (2/17) and I have my Oil of Oregano from a great little shop: VP Discount Health Food Mart, 13023 Victory Blvd, North Hollywood, CA 91606! read more

This is the closest GNC to my home, so it's the one I usually go to. I came in the other day and was helped by Mohammed who was very friendly and knowledgeable. There's also a woman who works there (can't remember her name right now) who is always friendly, helpful, and fun to talk with.
