"I'm gonna trip you out, Bro" "Dude, dude, dude" "Cause guess what?...'cause guess what?" "Shut up, bro..you need to hear what I'm saying." These are phrases you will hear over and over and over from the owner of the store. He will not let you get a word in. He loves the sound of his own voice so he will not listen to you either. He will try and keep you there an extra hour and a half despite that's how long it takes to get a parking spot. Rest assured, know this now, THIS IS NOT A PLACE WHERE YOU CAN JUST GO IN, GET YOUR STUFF AND LEAVE. Oh no. I had to tell him not once, not twice, but SEVEN times I was in a hurry to which I got a: "Just a second bro, 'cause let me tell you this..." He has a total agenda and will stop at nothing to push it even if it's to go so far as to berate you for not buying what HE tells you to buy. You will not find what you want here unless if what you're looking for is a horrible experience....bro...

It is a bit surreal being in a grocery store where the mean/median/mode price of something is 10x what it'd be at a normal shop. There's a parking garage right next to this location, but there was also a good amount of street parking nearby. Staff was very friendly! I got an 8 oz. jar of the Summit Trail Mix, which I really liked! It's not too salty and the dried fruits complimented the almonds so well. Enjoyed it so much that I kinda wish I opted for the bigger jar. Also, on top of the already steep price, there's a $3 bottle deposit. Since it was my first time here, the cashier let me know that you can get your deposit back if you bring the bottles/jars back to the store. After making my trail mix purchase, I got the strawberry glaze smoothie. My smoothie was ready pretty quickly. I'm not a big strawberry-flavor lover, but I really enjoyed this smoothie. It was the perfect refreshing drink for hot weather and walking around. I also felt very fitting and pretentious taking sips of my smoothie while strolling around Melrose. I definitely have to go back next time I'm in LA.. to get my bottle deposit back of course..

Look, I debated whether this even deserved a review. But here we are…read more Erewhon is less a grocery store and more a lifestyle statement for people who want to be seen making lifestyle statements. The smoothie bar line is populated roughly 80% by people who saw it on someone's feed, cannot afford this on any kind of regular basis, and are here purely for the content. I include my daughter in this demographic, and I say that with love. She wanted the smoothie. She got the smoothie. Twenty one dollars. I watched her face carefully as she took the first sip. She is a good sport, I will give her that. The dedication to maintaining a positive expression in the face of what can only be described as expensive, vaguely flavored pudding of mysterious ingredients was genuinely impressive. You could tell exactly how much she loved it by how enthusiastically she offered to share it with everyone in the family. She did not ask for it back. Not once. I had been expecting $21 to produce something that would recalibrate my entire smoothie reference point. Instead it tasted like someone blended wellness buzzwords into a cup and forgot to add flavor. Crossed off the list. The hype machine is real, the smoothie is not. At least I now have an opinion based on actual evidence rather than someone's Instagram grid. My daughter has already moved on to the next thing. As she should. Was gonna be 0 stars - but its not allowed, so I added the star, as the service in this place is great and they are all very friendly. The lines are horribly long, and the place gets really crowded around the smoothie area - so if you are not in line, roam the store and stare at all the items that you will never want to buy at the prices they are listed at. Great thing was that we were headed to the Grove - which has some awesome places to eat in the farmers market, and we were able to refresh the taste buds there - along with some much needed retail therapy for the girls. NO PICS AS I DO NOT WANT TO SPREAD THE MADNESS !!

So... take my review seriously!!! I tried almost all their food and can give a detailed rundown on each one. They have amazing, amazing, amazing food made with love here and employees that are incredibly kind and funny. They're welcoming and you can tell they really enjoy working at Rainbow Acres and want to spread good vibes. Their food is made in house, from scratch, exactly what it is. No food dyes or processing. Just fresh, straightforward food for a good price. RAINBOW ACRES MADE ME SHED A TEAR. I was so incredibly ecstatic to find an healthy, grocery CO-OP near me. The smoothies are great, they sometimes have samples. They're all delicious and they also can be paid with EBT. Their guac and chips was actually the best I've ever had from a grocery store. The guacamole had enough salt and lime, like... whole foods and chipotle guac was PUT TO SHAME. Well-seasoned, super chunky, cilantro, red onion, tomato, mmm, and those chips were actually fresh tortilla chips. So crunchy and light. So yum. God. Their sandwich was insane. Slices and heaps of chicken breast for double the price of a sprouts sandwich and quadruple times more tasty. Don't second guess it, just get it!!! BBQ chicken and ranch salad was insane. I ate it in like 10 mins and my stomach was bulging. When you see it, it will be irresistible. The grilled chicken is marinated and covered in a sweet bbq sauce and their housemade ranch is seasoned deeply, comparable to wingstop's ranch. Crunchy lil tortilla chips and crunchy salad with some roasted corn. Every single thing in that plate had its own flavor, unlike the prepackaged slop at other stores. However, it was close to $20... The fruit tart was FRESH and yummy, a tad sweet, but all the fruit was incredibly quality. The crust left a little to be desired, but great nonetheless. Their hot deli food is great too. We got a parm crusted chicken breast and it was very juicy and flavorful. The samples were great, even their curry is packed with flavor. Their turkey chili was insanely hearty and delicious, thankfully not too salty. chili mango is the best my boyfriend claims he's ever had. immense selection of unique canned and bottled drinks. They make their own green smoothies and juices in glass bottles, but there's also local branded magnesium teas, adaptogens, sparkling waters, etc. LOTS AND LOTS of vegan options. Great selection of teas and medicinal herbs and pure oils meant for the skin. I picked up some grapeseed oil and snacks. Some of the prices here are cheaper than whole foods, but some are more expensive. I really love Rainbow Acres, but some of their prices can be expensive. However, when factoring in the quality, freshness, and how the food is SIMPLE AND CLEAN AND HOPEFULLY AS ETHICAL AS IT CAN BE, it justifies the prices. The employees are always helpful, so it does help to imagine that the higher prices go to them as well. I'm really happy that this place exists. It's not pretentious and makes clean eating accessible for anyone.

Erin was especially resourceful in helping me boogie around the market and gather the items I needed in a pinch (the caviar my friend brought over that eve wouldn't have hit the same without this stop lol). I ended up at Lassens Natural Foods & Vitamins' Mid-Wilshire location as a parking hack for an event I was attending across the street at All Season Brewing. I made a couple of passes on the local streets with no luck, so I entered into their inviting large parking structure that they apparently shared with other businesses, and went inside to scope out the joint, and out of some guilt, made any kind of purchase as a sort of payment for parking. Would this odd experience leave any sort of lasting impression on me!? PURCHASE Larabar - Various Flavors ($1.29 x5): Among the five flavors I purchased (e.g. Cashew Cookie, Banana Bread, Pecan Pie, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip, Cocoa Coconut Chew), my favorite was the pecan pie and how it truly represented this Thanksgiving dessert but in a handy packable bar form. I actually enjoyed all of them and this brand as a whole. If you knew me, I always had some kind of granola or nutrition bar on me as a quick snack option or substitute while I was on the go. Each bar filled me up like those Snickers commercials and normally held me over until my next full meal! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=9IpWA5iKRMcDT1xMuGCIkg SERVICE I casually roamed throughout the store as I went down each aisle as if I were casing the joint without anyone asking whether or not I needed any help (which was fine). I finally found something that wouldn't cost me too much and knew I liked it, so I scored. The young man at the checkout counter was chill, rang my items up, and when I asked him about parking validation, he easily handled that for me - thank you! PARKING (Varied; FREE this instance) I believed they shared a parking structure with other businesses in this complex and validated your parking if you shopped with them. Otherwise, there appeared to be plenty of parking along the main drags of La Brea Ave. and 8th St., respectively, and all surrounding side streets, if you were lucky enough to find an open spot. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE This was a smallish grocery store with every inch seemingly maximized. The aisles were a bit snug, while they appeared to have a decent deli and prepared section. There was only one checkout area, so this truly felt like a local neighborhood version of their much larger stores such as the one I've shopped at before in Echo Park. Plenty of natural lighting came through the large surrounding windows while many electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. I couldn't recall any TVs nor any background music. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL For the ultimate reason that brought me to Mid-Wilshire's Lassens Natural Foods & Vitamins location, I gave it two thumbs up! And, for the items I settled on purchasing, another kudos. However, this place wasn't exactly for me nor was this particular location. For all of the health food nuts, I'm sure this was perfect for them; however, the closest I got to this would be Trader Joe's and maybe an extremely rare trip to a Whole Foods. The product mix again appeared to be limited due to the size of this store, the prices were a tad high based upon my standards, and the service was straightforward which I was fine with. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $8.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

It's usually been an older crowd that's wanted whatever health products were popular 10-20 years ago. At one point during the late 90's and early 00's, it was tremendously popular with the celebrity class of LA, and it was Erewhon before there was Erewhon. It has since drifted into a more relaxed, slightly frumpier incarnation now in 2026. As you can see from all the 1 and 5 star reviews, it's a place that inspires both stubborn loyalty and intense frustration in equal measure, and I think that about sums up experience for the uninitiated. You'll see that I've split the difference with this 3 star review in an attempt to capture reality. This is far from a perfect grocery store -- the prices are high, a lot of the produce is not looking so good, the milk is always about to expire, the aisles are poorly organized, they're missing lots of things you want. But it's also a real co-op and not a chain, it's possible to eat healthfully from here, and they are extremely responsive to their member's (numerously and frequently delusional and extremely SaMo) requests. The angry reviews about bad service here are overblown; I've been here dozens of times and never had a problem. And as long as it's member-owned, it can always change for the better very quickly, which I've seen happen here before, and may happen again. Personally, my reason for not shopping here is just the poor organization of the store overall, selection of dry goods which are widely second-rate to me, and shabby, soon-to-be-expiring produce and perishables attached to a luxury price. I see no reason to shop here when I have the SaMo farmer's market AND better organized specialty stores like Erehwon or McCall's right near by -- which are, despite what numerous reviews here desperately proclaim, the exact same price point as Co-Opportunity. I hope this clears up why the reviews here are all-over-the-place, it's because the store is too!
