The knowledge of the staff and customer service at this Nutrishop Hollwood is top-notch, so much so that I take the 90-minute drive to see Dan and his team. I always thought that to lose weight, you had to cut down on calories and exercise. After weeks of eating less and going to the gym, I saw no results. It wasn't until I wandered into Nutrishop Hollwood that I learned that my weight loss strategy was off and that I was probably doing more harm than good. Dan took the time to explain that Protein is an essential nutrient when trying to lose weight, and according to the information I provided, I most likely was not consuming enough protein. The Inbody scanner reads your body composition and lets you see if the regiment is helping you achieve your goal. I've been here a few times and there's always the same guy trying to sell me products, I'm assuming he's the owner because he told me not to listen to the other employees and that "he's the horse". Whatever that means... I like to buy protein and a few other things and use the scale. Every time I go it's like the owner has a problem with me wanting to use the scale even though I'm buying products. He constantly tries to sell some program in a naggish way. Horrible customer service! My friend and I went in after a hike as we're trying to get healthier and don't know too much knowledge. We've read online about the inbody machine Nutri shop has and was interested in finding out our body stats. Didn't get greeted when we walked in. Mind you nobody was in there and then he was just not helpful. Asked if we can use the inbody machine to see where we stand with our body measurements to potentially see what products we might need and right when we even brought up the machine he says "you either have to buy supplements of pay $20." to use, I paid $10,000 for this machine." I walked into this place and immediately walked right back out. 1. The employee must have either been smoking hookah, vaporizing in the store, or burning incense. Whatever it was...the fragrance was pungent and it appeared that the employee was used to it because he didn't notice that people could barely breath fresh air in that place. 2. Their selection is VERY limited, even for a physical store location. I don't see how they are in business because they don't have many product options. 3. The parking lot for this store is small and crowded. There are a small number of parking spaces for the numerous stores and fast food restaurant in this strip mall. I have been using their products for years but boy I cannot stand going to the Sunset store due to Chatty Cathy Dan. He must be the owner. I actually get very uptight just entering the store in fear that he will be there because he is so high pressured to Upsell you that you can't get out the door. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU ARE A WOMAN. I tried this place on two separate occasions to get pre-work out. The first time I went the guy walked me over to this pre-work out called Fem something. He said it's their only pre-workout for women. I tried to look at other pre-workouts, and he kept pushing me towards this one saying no no no this is the only one for women. I told him that I wanted to see different alternatives and he would NOT let it go. In front of all the other customers, he kept on saying no you're a woman. This is the one for you. He was pretty much forcing me to just get this one pre-work out for women as if there is nothing else I could possibly take besides that since I am a woman. it was kind of degrading and humiliating and frustrating. I figured he was just a weirdo, so I let it go and decided I would come again on a different day when there was a different employee. I came again, spoke to a different employee and the exact same thing happened. He kept pushing me towards this one specific fem pre-workout and pretty much ignored me every time I try to pick up a different pre-workout with ask about it. It's weirdly sexist and annoying. I should not only be allowed to look at one product because I am a woman. I have been lifting for years and I have tried so many different pre-workouts over the years. I used to like going here for my BCAA and a few other things that I often forgot to order online. It's on my way to the gym and the prices are comparable to the big online shops. The guy who's usually behind the counter is really cool, friendly, and doesn't push anything on you. All of that went out the window today when I met who I can only guess is the owner. He did a full-on sales assault on some inferior protein powder that I was pretty clear I didn't want. He kept pushing - asking me why I didn't want it. I could tell he had no knowledge of what he was trying to sell beyond what the supplement company has given him. The gentleman I usually deal with was there too and he even tried to rescue me by mentioning "He and I have already talked about protein.." but I could tell he didn't want to step on his boss' toes. There are other reviews here with similar experiences of hardball sales tactics from the owner. He needs to back off and let the nice guy he hired (who actually knows the customers) do his job. The guys who have written before me are all correct. The owner (I think his name is "Dan") (not the employee- who I heard someone also calling him "Dan;" but the owner who wore a cap) will NOT stop talking your ear off about why you SHOULDN'T buy what you've come in there to buy; and why you SHOULD buy something else. He will repeatedly interrupt you and then later remark about how you've (somehow) interrupted him. The owner doesn't care how much you may (already) know about supplements and fitness; he will still treat you like you know *nothing.* All of this advice- coming from an owner of a fitness-supplement shop- that makes you wonder if he's ever worked out a day in his life. You'll see what I mean. Case in point. Evidently, he's selling this unnecessary "new, new, stuff that we just got in" (as he claims) for you only to make money off of overcharging (very) hopeful and innocent (and of course... green) individuals looking to improve upon their workouts and fitness. The worst part is- I've overheard people in the gym talking about what a hassle it is to go into this store and buy their products without any hassle. Then, lets say you have the confidence to tell this guy that you are in a hurry... suddenly he gets all defensive and takes it "personally" that you're in a hurry and therefore not willing to listen to his long diatribe of (judge-it-for-yourself) seemingly-useless facts and car-salesman reports. Remember: He's not a doctor; or a nutritionist; or even a personal trainer. His only credential is SALES. Admittedly, the shop sells *some* decent standard products. But they *are* over-priced BEYOND BELIEF. And they're also not products that you can't *also* find at a competitor's store; or ones where the competitor can perhaps order the item for you. Besides- it's not worth the headache when you go into this particular location. Even IF the owner is talking to other people when you enter... and you think that you're "in the clear"... he'll immediately bring YOU into the conversation and start throwing questions at you. (He does this likely as an additional ploy to validate his current sales-pitch to the customers that he was speaking to- prior to your arrival.) IN-BRIEF: BUYER BEWARE * Definitely *some* of the WORST customer service from a business owner that I have encountered. Gaby was who I was fortunate to be attended by, and she took care in helping me find exactly what I needed, even offering to take a note for the manager to get me what wasn't immediately on hand. Terrible experience. I was expecting good service because the Nutrishop by my work is extremely well run, but that this place. The entrance was completely blocked with boxes like a warehouse. We had been customers here before and wanted to check our progress on the body scanning scale. Not only had our previous data been lost, but we were told we couldn't use the device even if we bought supplements because it was for "people on supplement lines only". I told the guy behind the counter that if I couldn't use the machine we'd just take our business elsewhere, which he must have thought was fine. I love this place. I started a bootcamp workout program across the street and they recommended me to this Nutrishop. They have always been extremely helpful and knowledgeable about what will help and what is necessary vs. unnecessary. All the guys in there have been great, including the owner. Rene, more recently, has been a huge help as my bootcamp ended but I am still working towards a goal. He helped me really figure out a plan that would work for me and didn't try to over sell me anything. Overall, this shop is great. So I have always been one of those people who wanted to lose weight but just couldn't get past a certain plateau. I have asked so-called "experts" in the past who always seemed to recommend whatever product they were told to push. When I moved out to LA I decided to really focus down and get into shape. I started a cleanse called the Whole30, which is a very restrictive paleo cleanse. One of the problems with these types of diets/ cleanses is they never recommend supplements, but I still wanted to incorporate something to help me. Most people shopping here are NOT pro athletes, which I'm sure is why I see many 5 star reviews from people like "a girl who finished an intense workout and was looking for a protein drink." There is hardly a big selection of good products. Some very popular and well known products like C4 preworkout are not available here, likely because Nutrishop's are pop up franchises and companies like Cellucor will not just sell to anyone. Things that ARE available here are very overpriced. Im so glad I found this place! I was looking for protein supplements and just some wellness supplements in general. And I was walking down sunset and saw Nutrishop. When I walked in there, I was greeted with enthusiasm and was asked what were my needs. I just explained I wanted leaner muscles and was looking for protein supplement as well as an overall supplement to keep my energy up while doing activities throughout the day because I suffer from fatigue a lot. They were so helpful and I was educated on a lot of the different products and what was the best ones for me... I got the Pro5 Hers protein powder and Natures Daily essentials which I love! Its a powder supplement with a good blend of minerals, amino acids, omega and immune support. I add it to my smoothie every morning. It was exactly what I needed! I know hard sales they work on some and don't on others Yes they sometimes push a product on you but that is only because the damn thing is GOOD and works, the owner has a good heart and wants to get you something that's better then the trash you are trying to buy. I don't gain weight when i don't work out i lose weight and muscle so i have to keep up the protein and regiments the owner recommends. I don't give a crap what anyone will tell me but the owner of this store knows his shit, i don't know about his employees they are always changing and i hardly deal with them, but the owner is very knowledgeable and guess what the products work. I am in great shape (look at some of the pics i posted on this site), But to gain muscle i have to take whey protein and glutamine to help recover faster after workouts or i just become skinny, i don't compete i don't do bodybuilding but i do have a swimmers body with lean muscle because i take good advice and research everything i try. At first, I walked in and it was very quiet and I think I went unnoticed. I was looking around and just some training equipment(Gloves/straps/body fat test). I walked a little more to the middle of the shop and without even saying anything the guy at the counter saw me and just checked in on how I was doing. I did the average customer thing. "I'm fine... Actually I have a question." I then went to explain what I'm doing with my own workout/exercise. First thing he asked me was what my goal was. Right then, I knew that he would have some (Hoping good) information for me. He went on to actually listen to what I do, What I want and What my goal was. After doing so, He explained what would be best for me but DID NOT try to sell me anything. instead he gave me a few pamphlets and suggested I read up on them(Pro7ien and Glutacor). After just telling me about that I asked him a few more questions and we spent a good 10 minutes just talking about What will work best for me.
