I've decided to add another star for PowerZone, even though my first visit was a total bust. I decided to give it another try after my first time getting a protein shake here. I've probably been here about 7 times since then and walked in earlier today to purchase a shake after my morning workout. I've fallen in love with the Peanut Butter/Almond Milk (with Vanilla Protein). Service has been great, but to my surprise I was asked if I wanted to start a stamp card. Interestingly enough, I've never been asked to start a "loyalty card" until today. I'm hoping it's a very new thing they've decided to start this week. If so, great! If not, I wish I had known about it during my last 6 visits. They certainly do a better job than Body Energy across the street. Fast service is to be expected. All five were listening to and helping this woman in front of me. There were no other clients in the place. I went to the PowerZone yesterday for a protein shake and the two employees were chit chatting with each other. The store was empty at the time and I stood at the counter waiting for the two to acknowledge me with a "hello" or "what can I get for you?". I was met with blank, unwelcoming stares. As the two stood in front of me, motionless and not saying a word, I found that I needed to ask if one of them could make me a protein shake. As an explanation that I wasn't asked if I could be helped, I was told that they were used to people walking in and just shouting out what they wanted. However, they were pretty expensive compared to my usual shop's prices in San Diego. They seem to carry a good line of stuff here for people with all nutritional needs, but again, the prices are just pretty steep. Then I met Alex the manager. He is a TALL glass of water, and very knowledgeable. I had some questions about the thermogenics I was taking, and he gave me some direct, educated answers without trying to "sell me" on some of his products. This proved to me that this shop wants to ensure their clients have nutrition and fitness education, rather than trying to just make a sale. They have a smoothie bar that looked really good, but I already had a protein shake, so next time I will have to give it a try. I always go in there for Lenny and Larrys cookies (my favorite is the lemon poppy). If you belong to there membership, you receive the membership cost instead of the retail cost.
