People mentioned in other reviews that there's fresh organic produce but there wasn't as much as I thought there would be (about 3 small shelves in the fridge of 3 different things - apples, cabbage) and there was some squash out on display as well. Maybe there's more variety on certain days when it's restock day. When we walked in the person working wasn't wearing a mask but then put one on and asked us to wear them. There is not currently an indoor mask mandate for LA county (people are also no longer required to wear them in airports or on planes) so we didn't like that we had to wear a mask. We browsed the shop and there was some cool items but they didn't carry Ceylon cinnamon.

I came in looking for their The Good Crisp Company Cheddar Cheese Balls which is similar to Cheetos Puff balls minus the calories and added orange chemicals. These bite-sized puffed snacks has a bold cheddar taste and satisfying texture and made without artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. Since I am on a health journey, and I still crave some junk food, at least this version of cheese puffs is healthier. This is why I like Sprouts because you can find similar items that are organic or healthier with less preservatives. This location is easy to navigate and my next go to is their bulk section. I come here to grab just the amount of nuts, grains, or chocolates to help with portion control. I can even make my own trail mix to enjoy at work or on long road trips. Only downside is that I've seen adults and kids using their hands to grab samples and that's a big No No for me. That compromises the cleanliness of those bulk items. I hope they figure out something where samples aren't easily taken. I still walk by their bakery area and just smell the freshly baked goods, hoping to satisfy my cravings without the added calories. There are also deli items like sandwiches, salads, and ready-to-eat meals that I typically purchase to enjoy at work. Overall, had a good visit at this Monrovia location. I've been watching most of Tony's (owner and founder) videos on instagram on how to prepare the meat and also how to use them for the most delicious recipes. He is very informative in all his videos. I had several questions regarding his products, and whoever answered my messages on Instagram was quick! I got the bundle with Vegan bacon slices, drumsticks, and sunny side up eggs. The first thing I made were the drumsticks. I thought it was awesome that the "meat" is attached to sugar cane. It's pretty much a dual purpose because you can "make a drink" from them afterward. I had the drumsticks fried in oil by itself, and another pack steamed with mushrooms and beyond sausages. They were really good and I was happy that they were not that salty because most vegan packaged food I have tried are. I fried the eggs and bacon in oil as well. The bacon was on point and not as salty as actual bacon. It can be crispier as well if you like them prepared that way. The eggs tasted like hard boiled eggs. According to one of Tony's videos, the "egg white" is made out of tofu and the "yolk" is made out of mung beans. The drumsticks come with 6 pieces in one package, bacon has 10 in a package, and eggs are also 10 in a package. I normally get my sugar cane juice from another store but the one here is better tbh. It's more fresh tasting and worth it for the amount you get. The mangoes you have to let ripen up in a few days but once they do, oh em g they are so good, best mangoes ever. So fresh affordable and yummy. As for the jackfruit it's already prepped and ready to eat which is amazing because preparing jackfruit HURTS its like a giant durian. The jackfruit has a nice sweetness that is unlike any other fruit in my opinion. Being Vietnamese American it means a lot to support businesses like these because it reminds me of my own parents. I'll elaborate, their is currently a special incentive going on with EBT recipients and the Mother's Nutrition. These deals are great!! They help family's stretch that dollar and insure the security of having fresh food available. It's a wonderful program. Unfortunately theirs been some terrible outcome because of it. The store is ALWAYS busy and it's never that calm, quick and easy service as is expected when going to a Mother's Nutrition. I literally have to mentally prep my self to go to the store because its overwhelming dealing with the other customers. They have been so rude, disrespectful & careless. I've had to experience smokers upon my arrival, stand right by my vehicle while I get my son off just smoking like its their right, it was never like that before. Until this program began and from what I gather it's the men related to the people shopping in the store. Whoever they are they should know better than to smoke by a store that is highly noted as a Expecting Mother's and infants shopping establishment. The employees try to regulate these people's behaviors as best they can but they can only do so much. Something needs to be done. Im a LONG time shopper. Ive been shopping here for the past 5yrs with my son and the past couple of years since this incentive began it's been awful. I called and spoke with Kathy and Sam from corporate a week ago, and they told me that they've done their absolute best but I'm writing today because I was just at the store yesterday and what I witnessed inspired a few solutions. Kathy I thank you for your time the other day, you did spend ALOT of time on the phone with me and heard me out. That is appreciated, greatly. The team/staff of this store needs to be praised and Congratulated for ALL THEIR EFFORTS. I understand like you said Kathy, they are employees and they have a job to do but at the end of the day they are just human and have limits. So I continue to note how they ALL just keep preserving and keeping up a pleasant demeanor. The shoppers that come in for the incentive majority of the time don't speak English or put on a act like they don't speak English, they challenge your employees every moment they can, they have no respect for staff or other shoppers. If they see WIC shoppers being shown preference they want to argue and cause stress and unnecessary problems. We lost the resource of the pickup service because these non wic shoppers abused it, and overwhelmed the staff with orders. They not only over ran the store but they overwhelmed the pick up service. Being a single mother with multiple disabilities & having a child with autism that pick up service was a God send. Kathy you need to go to the store and experience the disruption first hand. It's not fair to the staff to have deal with everything these non wic shoppers bring. First suggestion is, get a parking attendant out there before these people cause more grief out in the parking lot and accidents. Second suggestion get security that monitors the door and the store front so no one is smoking outside. Third suggestion, since we can't limit the hours on non wic members shopping how about we have someone serve them fruit samples or water while they wait in line. Fourth suggestion keep wic members priority(I do see this implemented at my store just wanted to keep it in the suggestions) Fifth suggestion make it clear to the non wic shoppers that they do not receive the same preferences as wic members. Make cards for them or get a translator that can communicate with them because most if not all want to act like they can't speak English. Lastly I suggest you give the team/staff members at Mother's Nutrition El Monte an Award for giving 110% of themselves to keep their Wic shoppers happy and cared for, putting their safety on the line to protect your WIC shoppers. Kathy this team/staff the store itself is well stocked they are doing their best every day but they really need to be acknowledged for their efforts. Don't get on them for not being able to control the behaviors of others that's not in their job title. I keep going back because I'm loyal to that team, I see what they've got to endure and I am so proud of them. So I keep bracing the struggle and discomfort because no matter what they always make me and my son feel welcomed and safe. My son loves the store and I do too it's less than a few minutes from my house. We've been going their for 5rys now. I really don't want to stop but the non wic shoppers are just relentless and they make things so much harder Please don't be harder on the staff help them out in any way that shows gratitude and real support. Bring back the pick up service for wic members only, it's not fair to us mother's. Your stores started out being a safe and easy place FOR MOTHERS to shop.
