I've been trying to take over a lease through GM Financial, and the experience has been frustrating. I submitted my credit application over 45 days ago. Since then, I keep getting the same response. They say they are backed up and have not been able to run a basic credit check. A credit check should take days, not over a month and a half. This delay shows poor organization and lack of urgency. If you are thinking about taking over a lease through GM Financial, think twice. The process is slow, communication is repetitive, and nothing moves forward. Worst loan company I've ever dealt with. Just like others have stated, I would give 0 stars if I could. I purchased a car on April 24 in Arizona and brought it into California on April 28. When I went to the DMV on May 13 to register it, I found out that GM Financial had not even initiated the title transfer. Apparently, they don't automatically start this process when a loan is opened, you have to call and request it yourself. This is completely ridiculous, and unless you're a dealership, you'd have no reason to know that. After finally getting them to initiate it, they told me it would take 5-8 weeks just to mail the title, which is somehow "part of their process." According to the tracking number, the title was finally delivered to the DMV on June 10, nearly 7 weeks after I brought the car into California. Despite me explicitly providing the correct address for my local DMV office, GM Financial ignored my instructions and sent the title to DMV headquarters, which does not process public transactions and does not forward documents to local offices. I later found out this happened because the address I initially gave was a PO Box (which FedEx can't deliver to), and instead of calling to clarify or request a different address, they just made an assumption and sent it to the wrong place -- which is what got us into this mess. At my DMV appointment on June 17, I was told DMV headquarters was still opening mail from before June 1, meaning my title is stuck in a backlog. Once they get to it, they'll send it back to GM Financial, and per GM's customer service, that restarts the entire process, potentially another 5-8 week delay with no guarantee they'll send it to the right location this time either. Since then, I've called multiple times (5/13, 6/17, 6/19, 7/2, 7/23, and 7/29) and submitted relocation request forms three times (5/13, 7/2, and 7/23) the second of which they claim never went through. I've received zero proactive communication and every piece of information I've gotten has been through my own hour-long calls. When I finally asked to speak to a supervisor on 7/29, I had to push multiple times just to get escalated. Only then was I told, for the first time, that they could request a duplicate title from Arizona, which apparently could take another 6-8 weeks just to receive and an additional 6-8 weeks for GM to process on their end. The fact that this was the first time I was hearing about this after all the back and forth is completely unacceptable. My vehicle legally needed to be registered by July 27, 2025 (90 days from April 28), and because of GM Financial's continued negligence, I am now past that deadline and at risk of registration penalties, fines, and being unable to legally drive the car I'm actively making payments on. Any fees incurred as a result of this will be their responsibility. Avoid GM Financial at all costs. Their customer service is careless, their process is broken, and they take zero accountability for the messes they create. Worst experience I've ever had with a loan company. I have already sent a formal letter of intent to pursue legal action against GM Financial, and I will hold them fully liable for the financial and legal consequences of their repeated negligence. And to GM Financial: Don't bother commenting asking me to reach out to your social media team because I've already done that, and nothing came of it. There is still no resolution. If you respond here with a generic comment asking me to contact your social media team, it will be clear you didn't even read this review and are just copying and pasting a standard reply which perfectly sums up your customer service experience. read more

I was a couple days not even a week over my due date I went to make my payment they charged me for two months instead of what was due. then when i tried to stop the payment the website is misleading allowing you to select a delete or cancel payment and has you call which they then explain you can not cancel the payment to call your bank which then the bank explains they have already taken the funds so it can not be stopped and then they say they can not refund the money back to your account wait 2-3 weeks for a check. I have been with GM Financial for over 2 years. I recently had a hail claim and the damage was repaired by my insurance company. I also had coverage on some accessories including a full matte paint protection film over the entire vehicle. They had to remove this to repair the vehicle and the insurance would only pay to replace the damaged area of the film that was removed. I was informed by the facility that performs the wrap that unfortunately they could not guarantee the clear would matte wrap would match exactly so I chose to not have it done. The insurance issued me a check to both GM and I as it was over their 5k limit to issue it to me directly. GM has given me the run around for months asking for various documents to release the funds including letters from insurance, quotes stating it was for a wrap only, speaking with the repair facility to verify the repairs were made and still will not release my funds. I informed them from the beginning that I would not be replacing the wrap and this was something added after the purchase. It was not part of the damaged areas that were repaired which they verified. Every time I spoke with someone I had to explain myself from the beginning and it took days to a week each time for them to respond. They have refused to return my funds still and applied them to my loan against my request. I have perfect credit with no late payments and I will not be using them again in the future. Their processes are a joke and response time is even worse. The customer service employees were friendly, but I didn't feel they had the proper support. GM Financial Services is the worst credit provider I've ever dealt with. Their customer service agents are rude, aggressive, and disrespectful. The company shows no compassion and only cares about money. I recently lost my car in a fire and contacted them to report it, inform them that I filed an insurance claim, and ask for a break from payments to handle the insurance and gap claims, as well as the loss. However, the customer service agent was rude and inconsiderate, insisting he didn't care about my loss and that I needed to keep making payments. They kept reporting negatively to the credit bureaus. When my insurance paid my claim, they neither credited my account nor notified me until I called three weeks later. The customer agent was rude, dismissive of my concerns, and only focused on how I should make monthly payments; they warned they would continue reporting to the credit bureau and pursue collections. I explained I had a pending gap insurance claim and needed it resolved and the remaining balance paid, but they continued to report adversely. Gap finally sent a check in my name on October 25, but as of December 3, they still hadn't credited my account nor acknowledged receipt of the check until I called. They claimed they did not receive the check. When my insurance made a lump payment, it did not reduce my interest charges. read more

Told I'd have to wait 3 to 5 business days for my refund then on the 5th day I received an email saying I had to select how I wanted to receive my refund (in the account you guys took it out of) which would take another 2 days to process. In the meantime I'm occurring overdraft charges because of them. And I was giving a possible 24 hour option to have the money refunded to a debit card that the app and website wouldn't allow me to add!! Can't agree more with all the reviewers here. It's one of the worst businesses ever. In my case, I'm on a monthly extension after a 36-month lease. I prepaid the entire lease based on a total amount deal I made with the dealer. So, I never know what my monthly payment should have been for the 36-month lease. GM Financial never sent me any statement stating what my monthly extension would cost. When I called or used the online chat, I always got a different amount. It seems that each one of them calculated the amount manually and ended with a different number. Very frustrating (especially after hours on the phone over many calls). They all should get an F in their math. The MyAccount website shows a completely wrong amount due. When I asked the chat bot, it responded that the amount was due on 12/31/9999. Whoa? When I complained about this inaccuracy on the website, an agent said that he couldn't see what I saw, and asked me to fax (yes, to fax) a printout of the screen. Are they stuck in the 1990s? Please beware! this is the most corrupt company I have ever dealt with! my husband and I bought a truck through GM financial and we were making our payments on time. We always made our payments through the online portal. My husband accidentally made several payments through the portal but clicked principal instead of monthly payment. We realized our mistake and called GM financial to let them know that we met to make those payments as our monthly payment, they assured us this was no big deal and they would get it fixed right away. Instead, they went behind our back, got a lawyer and tried to repossess the truck saying that we did not make our payments, they then said we had to come up with all of those back payments and then they lied and said there were several back payments from previous years that we also missed, I called my bank and printed out statements right away, went through and was able to prove that we had not missed a single payment but of course they have their attorneys who are dirty and screw everyone else over, I didn't feel comfortable financing the truck through this company anymore so we gave it back and purchased a new one through a reputable company and have had no issues! GM financial has since said that if they are unable to sell the truck for what we owe on it, they plan to come after us for the rest of the money I cannot tell you how awful their customer service is and how corrupt this company has been. Wow. So, on 12-31-24 I attempted to pay off my truck by ACH. I received a receipt from GM and their site said my account was closed due to the fact I paid off my truck. A week and a half later, the payment still had not gone through. I signed back onto the site and now I was late. Evidently, they have an outside company that is supposed to let you know there was an issue with the ACH payment. Never heard from them. Never heard from GM. So I called GM and it turns out there was a "glitch" with the ACH (not sure why they emailed me the receipt). So, now the payoff was $100 higher. So, I sent a check. It has been nearly 2 weeks and the check has not cleared, so they now added late fees. Bottom line, after this fiasco, I realize that GM doesn't want you to pay off your car. They want the Interest Rates and Late Fees,, so they will continually give you lame excuses. So disappointed and angry. Got a bill for a $500 cleaning fee (which was standard I was told and in the contract) a $421 tax bill and a $15 administrative fee. Stay away from GM Financial (GMF)! Had a 3 year lease with a PERFECT payment history. I turned in the car on time and received the bill for disposition fee and paid it within 7 days. I called a about two weeks later to confirm the receipt of that check and they did confirm it but they said I still have a $ 0.99 (99 cents!!) balance. BUT, they said it was a glitch and they will correct it and make sure the account has 0.00/ZERO balance. They sent me a Zero balance letter about 10 days later. Now, GUESS what? I just got an alert from my credit monitoring service that GMF has reported a 60 day delinquency on my account. I will submit a complaint to CFPB. DO NOT DO business with them. read more

Where to begin. After two and a half years of a perfect lease payment record, my automatic payment was stopped without notification. My car was actually repossessed after no payment for two months and I had to pay about $1000 in fees to retrieve my vehicle. I received no written notification, no email, and no voicemails indicating there was an issue with my account. When I ended my lease and actually ended up purchasing my vehicle, I received notification that I owed $400 for the return fee for my vehicle, which I had purchased. I called GM financial and had to send them my proof of sale (even though I purchased the vehicle AT a GM dealership). I was told nothing about the need to do this at time of purchase. I am awaiting a zero balance letter, but fully expect to have to call again and resolve something else before I get out of this shit show. I have never written a review for anything before. Terrible company- account is locked and no one can unlock. Continue to add charges after car was turned in. Don't give a review until you have completed the entire transaction. And make sure you continue to monitor your account long after you turn your car back in (even if you purchase a new vehicle) as they will surely charge you with something even if you made all of your payments on time. Not something anyone would recognize as the assumption is that its being paid in full. Hands down WORST customer experience ever. And because of GM Financial's inability to provider adequate customer service, I will never purchase or support GM again. Forget the fact that you need to enter your information TWICE into the automated system but by the time you finally get a human-being on the phone, they ask you a THIRD time for the same information. I have called so many times that I'm convinced customer service is outsourced to India. If they don't have the instructions available to them in a manual, they don't know how to assist you and that is very troubling when you are trying to return a leased vehicle but have no place to return it to. It's not in their manual and they don't know how to help you which is crazy. We just wrapped up our 2nd 3yr lease on a GMC Acadia Denali. Many weeks prior, we were interested in purchasing the vehicle however, they were unwilling to negotiate even $100 off the list price so we opted for a new car elsewhere (their loss). At the end of the lease GM Financial instructs you to drop your car off at any GMC dealership but that is not accurate. I have now made TWO attempts to drop-off our car at Keyes in Woodland Hills and Silver Star in Thousand Oaks. Both dealerships refused to accept the vehicle due to "lack of space". I have spoken to supervisors at GM Financial all day and I'm still waiting for one of them to get back to me with some direction. It's really unbelievable.
