The technician put the tape too close to my eyeball and it was digging into my left eye as she worked through the lashes. I told her about it several times. The first time, she thought it was the glue and took a fan to air it out (?). The second time, she loosened the tape a bit, but it wasn't enough to stop the hurting. The third time, she just got mad and said she didn't tape down my eyeball. After she was done, you can clearly see a red streak and swollen area on the bottom of my eye. I get my lashes done twice a year and I've ever had a reaction anywhere else. The technician still asked for a tip... My eye was swollen for 3 days and I had a vacation with a bridal photoshoot coming up. I was so scared that I wouldn't be able put makeup on one eye or wear contacts. The lashes were nice, but I would never go back to this place. read more

I had a very bad experience here at GM Beauty Studio today . I bought a Groupon and scheduled my appointment for today at 2pm (of course mentioned that I did have a Groupon over the phone ). When I showed up for my appointment the front desk manager told me right away that I had to pay full price since I was there before and that they wouldn't honor my Groupon (apparently I was there over three years ago, I looked it up after fact ), but nothing like this was mentioned over the phone when I scheduled the appointment and when booking a Groupon with them it clearly states "can be repurchased every 365 days" - the manager still argued with me and was rude about it - he had no explanation to why this wasn't mentioned at the time of booking my appointment. This place is just another "bait and switch situation", they make you come in and then find a way for your to pay more - on top of that they are rude and unapologetic and made me waste my time today ... read more

This review is based on two appointments so far. 1st appointment was with a Groupon. It was my first time ever getting lash extensions, and I was very happy with the outcome. Ivy was very gently and asked how I was doing throughout the process. I went back almost 17 days later, and they still looked pretty fresh and stayed on well with minimal fallout. 2nd appointment also with Ivy, and again I was very happy with the outcome, ease of scheduling, and longevity of the lashes. GM Beauty Studio is my go to lash place in NYC! I have gotten my lashes done quite a few times at other salons and they did not compare to the amazing job Mandy did at GM Beauty Studio. She is so carefully,quick, and precise. I never can feel the glue after on my lash line, or during (never any burning/red eyes). She checks her work until it's perfect, and is so gentle. The studio is very clean and quiet. I originally came with a $36 Groupon. I now come back regularly every 3 weeks! Never in my life have I had a set of lashes stay on for longer than 3 weeks until I came here. They seriously last way longer than of probably the 40 sets I've gotten done in the last 3 years. It's magic! My first visit I received a punch card for after 8 appointments a free full set, 2 $20 off coupons for myself, and 2 $80 off coupons for friends and family --all for free!! My friends immediately came to see Mandy and now are regulars too. I can't recommend this place more, I've never gotten so many compliments. Really hospitable and friendly service. Lashes were mink and came out amazing. Mindy took her time and was meticulous with every lash. She went back to check her work 2-3 times. She made sure the glue was fully dry before asking you to open your eyes. This was one of the best places for lash extensions in Manhattan. They offered you cookies, candy and water. The precise application of the lashes to the base makes it hard to see where the extension extends from the natural lash. She is very skilled and experienced in her services. Mandy is so sweet and professional!!! I first visited her 2 weeks ago and most of my lashes are still intact, even though I've been wearing eyeliner frequently. The studio is really clean and I got offered snacks and beverages upon arrival. Before applying the extensions, Mandy and I had a conversation about what I was looking for.
