When I saw the event Tea and Tarot (October 2026), I knew I'd finally make my way to the library as…read morealways say I need to stop in! Sometimes you just need something to draw you in, then you have a membership card to hopefully stop in more. I'm excited to see what they have to offer as it is easily 3-4x larger than I remember from the mid 2000s with 20,000-square-foot reading garden opening up this month! How cool! As for the event, it was amazing! Loved hearing about the witch trials for some history, tea leaf reading for a relaxing sip and trying to read the shapes, tarot reading if you'd like, and lastly, some seeds for your apothecary. Not your typical event, but perfect for spooky season. Shocked to see 30+ attend, and shared positive feedback with staff! Check this library out as The Apache Junction Public Library recently earned the Certified Autism Center (CAC) designation. Welcome for all and one of the best libraries in Arizona if you ask me!

They have all sorts of rooms and places for you to sit if you choose to look at a book while you're at the library or you borrow something that has to stay in the library and you look at it while you're there and then return it such as the high school yearbooks that they have for Apache Junction High School. There are plenty of computers for your use and you can have anything printed out while you were there. If I recall, I think it's a quarter to print something out. Plus they have a craft room where you can use a cricut machine, printers, craft supplies, etc. and they also have a team room for the teenagers to hang out in. So there is something for everyone at this library and that is why I like coming here. The only thing I was not crazy about were the weird people outside in front of the library at the donation area. That seems to attract a lot of homeless and scary looking people.

While visiting my dad, a Maricopa resident, I brought my 18 mo old son to the Movers and Shakers…read morestory time with Miss Lori. She was extremely friendly and did a great job of laying out what we could expect in the half hour timeframe. We did songs and a book and then were escorted to the children's area to play with play dough, felt, books, and puppets. The kids area is great, filled with puzzles, animals, play tables, and books. On our way out, we stopped at the "for sale" section and I picked up a gently used board book for $.75!! I am SO glad we decided to go, my dad got to see my son in his element, we love going to the library at home!

It's very modern and well kept, but calling it a cultural center is a joke. The acquisitions librarian, Doug, is an arrogant mansplainer who shows little to no respect to anyone who isn't a straight white male. If you're a local author, he and the others at the front desk are openly rude and judgmental, speaking over you while saying, "We don't accept self-published books." For the record, I am traditionally published with my books in international libraries and stores. It was also mansplained to me that my books are not being accepted due to the appropriateness of reading materials and the fact that we live in an area where political feelings affect what the library chooses to select. I write romance and paranormal. There's hardly anything nefarious about that, but god forbid the MC in my paranormal series has an LGBTQAI+ daughter. The horror! Clutch y'all's pearls and hide your children! However, the real slap in the face was them still reaching out to invite me to their Indie Author Day in November of 2023. The event was not well organized, keeping all authors in a side room and not really advertising this to the public. Also, they brought in a marketing specialist who went on about how it's better to self publish than go traditional. That aside, they have a great selection for young children and story times. It's great if you want to get them into reading. Personally, I visit the library in Casa Grande thirty minutes away. It's in the same county, and I can drop off my books in Maricopa without being charged fees. But if you're seeking anything diverse that isn't mainstream, you're SoL.
