I agree with most other posts on here, the Globe is an excellent spot for English speaking expats in Prague who miss America. And that is about it. Their bookstore is overpriced (A blank notebook is 150 czk, or 7 USD, ridiculous!) , their menu is also overpriced and the food is not that great. When I went here I did enjoy the comfy atmosphere, but many cafes in Prague can also provide this same atmosphere at a much lower cost (and maybe a view as well) I got chicken nachos, a banana smoothie and a small desert and this set me back about 400 crowns. And be prepared to tip well since the waitstaff can kind of speak english they expect what we would tip in America.....even though they are slow and don't act like an American server would (aka not attentive at all). All in all, If you are in prague for vacation I would not suggest going here, and I personally will not be going back any time soon.

awesome place, not only for The occasional drink: Every sunday is NFL might and occasional life Music and quiz nights make it always nice to turn in here. Apart from that food and drinks are well Made but slightly above average priced.

The Globe is perfect if you're missing the states and are hoping for a little classic American comfort food. We came here several times during our time in Prague. From burgers to fries to artichoke dip, we tried it all. They also have great hummus, french onion soup, and carrot ginger soup. The atmosphere is very laid back, cozy, and is the perfect little coffee shop for studying or an intimate evening with friends. I recommend sitting up in the balcony area--for some reason not many people make their way up to the top, but it has the best view of the restaurant! I have fond memories of The Globe and must make another stop back next time I'm in Prague.

Delicious hung-over brunch in Prague. Kind of a far walk from Old Town (15-20 minutes). Additionally, the service was extremely slow. On a saturday at brunch time ( 1:00 p.m.) there was only one waiter and another joined him mid way through our meal. I had to flag down the waiter several times to get my peanut butter and oreo mixed milk shake. THE FOOD: My friends ordered a twix oreo (mixed) milk shake. The waiter said they don't usually mix, but TRUST ME, order this combination. It was out of this world, and the milk shake was a perfect consistency, not too thick, not too milky. I ordered the breakfast burger which was a bacon cheeseburger with a fried egg served on a bagel. I opted for fries instead of the hashbrowns that came with the dish. THE BREAKFAST BURGER WAS BANGIN. My friends would ask for bites but I wanted the entire dish to myself. The chocolate chip pancakes would be my second recommendation. The pancakes were delicately chocolatey without overpowering the flavor of the fluffy pancakes. Perfection. I would stay away from the egg dishes. The two I mentioned blew the eggs out of the water.

Not only does Absintherie serve as a beautiful absinthe bar, it's also a small absinthe museum! They have displays with fascinating information about the history of absinthe, and items related to the making of absinthe. Since it's a Prague specialty, I chose to drink macerated absinthe. It was so fun to watch the bartender expertly handle the drink and the flames. Once my drink was made, I wandered around Absintherie while enjoying my drink and enjoying the displays and learning omre about absinthe. They used to sell absinthe ice cream here, according to a blog I read back in the early 2010s. Unfortunately, due to regulations in Prague, absinthe ice cream is no longer offered. However, the bartender who served me quickly whipped up a small bowl for me. When I asked him how much I owe him, he said don't worry about it, they only give it to nice people. That was so sweet and nice of him!!! 5 stars for sure!!!!! Thank you Absintherie for being such a memorable absinthe bar in Prague!

Reservations were booked…read moreweeks in advance but we decided to test our luck as it opened and got lucky with a walk in. This is a speakeasy where you spend 1.5-2 hours choosing drinks solely from illustrations that fit into a story. You truly don't know what the drink will be aside from the types of alcohol and a few words to describe the flavor profile. There were about 6 sections for 3-4 guests in a party, which is why reservations were highly recommended. The server then comes over with the cards and describes the concept. He does ask if there were any alcohols we didn't like, then gave us the cards to choose from. A few minutes later he came back and took them to get our drinks prepared. The drinks did take a little while to prepare. The server, who was now masked, delivered our drinks. They were served with different decorations or props to enhance the story telling. Each drink was quite different and were definitely well crafted. We ended up each having two rounds but there were probably 10 drinks to choose from. Pros -This concept is quite unique, and stood out over other speakeasies in Prague. -It's intimate and classy, and the ambiance offers an elevated experience. -The story telling element added another layer of experience, you would likely order more drinks to figure out the story. How they presented each cocktail was also very photo friendly. Opportunities -You could see your neighbors experience in front of you, which took away that surprise element that they were going for. You'd see their drinks roll by and would see what's coming. We also saw their reactions to their drinks so we knew what not to order. I wish there were curtains separating each party so it was really a surprise. -I wish the staff were in masks the entire time, it would be more spooky and true to how social media presents this place. They only wore them to bring drinks over. -Drinks were upscale but definitely an acquired taste. We liked some more than others. Overall this place is unique, and with a few tweaks on tiny details, I think would be phenomenal.

I had bookmarked Tynska recently and noticed it was only a few blocks away, so we walked over. In a city that confuses me every single time I round a corner, Tynska was actually easy to locate. About time that happened! It's not too far from Old Town Square, for context. When we arrived, the door was locked in speakeasy fashion. Turns out you need to ring the bell to be allowed in. Cool way to control crowds! I'm not sure if there was a dress code or not. My roommate and I were dressed normally for the season and were permitted inside without a reservation. Perhaps they're more strict later in the night or if there's limited seating. I checked in on Yelp and an ad popped up for a free snack plate. My server didn't know about it but asked the bartender, who accepted the coupon. What arrived was seriously beautiful: a tray of delicious cheeses (four different kinds, I believe), crackers, and a semi-sweet jam. We were also given a cup of popcorn mixed with potato chips and a separate bowl of green and black olives. So good!! For drinks, my roommate ordered a red wine, which she deemed "awesome." I chose the Life is Beautiful cocktail -- made with aperol, elderflower liquer, fresh lime, and topped with Laurent Petrier Champagne. At 295 crowns ($12), it was a splurge but totally worth it considering it was likely the best cocktail I've had in months. The decor here was dim, cool and ritzy. Think Mad Men styling. Perfect for a night out with a few close friends, a date, or to enjoy solo seating at the bar. Better than a club night? I'd say there's no comparison.
