In the middle of June, right when the heat wave was starting, my split unit decided to stop cooling, and instead it was throwing warm air. I cleaned the unit and filters, but the problem persisted, so I contacted different companies via Yelp and phone. We needed someone to come and fix it soon because we were working from home. It was a Tuesday, and some offered me appointments for two weeks, and the less was for Saturday... but we were melting! Most companies were charging between $60 - $78 for the diagnosis/estimate. One of them says on its Yelp that they offer a "Free estimate", but doesn't want to respond trough the Yelp messages. When I called, he told me it was a free estimate, but I needed to compromise to give them the job, and that they usually charge between $300-$400. Ben was the last one responding, but he ended getting the gig! We talked on the phone the next day (Wednesday), and he seemed to me fair and more reliable than others. He offered a fair estimate fee and the most important, he offered to come here the same day or next day morning. That Thursday, right before 8:00 AM, his employees were knocking my door. I explained to Ben that this is a rental house and the owner wouldn't change the unit (that's every company's first option to offer) which also was only about 3 years old, and that I was paying this from my pocket. He gave me a fair price for the whole thing (estimate, parts, job) and in less than 3 hours the A/C was cooling again! I just wish they have cleaned (with an air compressor) the outside unit, since they opened it, and have fixed the little leaking in the inside unit... but I understand that would have probably ended up in more charges. We are very pleased with the service GlobalTech provided to us. Ben answered my call on a very hot day (over 100 degrees) on a long weekend and came to our home to evaluate the problem on the same day. We carefully evaluated our options and decided to get a new AC system because of the fair price and good service plan we were offered. Ben brought us a temporary AC unit so we could be comfortable over the long weekend before the new AC was in. Just in two days, they started demolition and installation. Benjamin and his crew were great. Had to replace old leaking asbestos ducts in our house. He thoroughly reviewed the whole situation, and gave good advice on what needed fixing and what needed replacing. The price was much better than competitors. My AC had not been properly cooling the house the last few weeks, only getting down to 80 degrees inside so I started to reach out to some HVAC companies for a diagnosis. Most of the techs that came by were more concerned with selling me a replacement than finding out the root cause of the issue. The first thing most of these guys asked was how old the unit was, as if the equipment had been programmed to fail after a number of years; albeit, mine is 14 years old. In addition, I had to pay them for the visit that provided me nothing helpful about the state of my system. Benjamin, from Global Tech, was different; he was more thorough. He did an initial "walkthrough" with my equipment and recommended cleaning the dirty evaporator and furnace as a start. He didn't even charge me for his visit. He was very forthcoming as to determining the issues and addressing them one at a time, which I appreciated since it helps me make an informed decision. I found that the fee he was charging me was fair because of the amount of work involved so I set up the appointment immediately. The next day, his technicians, Steven and Ben, arrived promptly, were very professional and were identifiable in their Global Tech polos. They went to work immediately. A few hours later they finished the cleanup, performed some diagnostics on the overall system and gave it a clean bill of health.
