I hadn't had lice since I was 13yrs old and knew how serious it was that I nip it in the bud now! Mary educated me with so much more info than I thought I knew, since I had lice my entire childhood. Her advice explains why the at home kit I got from Target did not work. Lice is immune to the Rid and Nix shampoo treatments. It will not kill them! I 1000 did everything Mary told me to do at home after my 1st treatment. Traumatized I am, I was willing to do whatever it took to make sure I covered all my corners at home, in my car, and on me personally. My husband even came in to get checked. Thankfully he did not have it. My 1st treatment went well as I was not infested thank goodness, and Mary highly recommended a 2nd treatment and some take home products to keep lice away. Boy was she right about this second treatment 4 days later. The microscopic eggs she could not see/ take out from 1st treatment were indeed there and bigger when I went in for the 2nd treatment. She practices Holistic medicine - and is somehow both efficient and comprehensive during our visits. Most importantly as a father; she helped me prepare. Like every other first-time parent I stood in the dark watching my child breathe at 3AM, just to know that they are. Despite my training, this parenthood thing is nerve-wracking. The little "heads-ups" that Dr. Tackie gave us about all the wild stuff our daughter would do have reduced that stress load. I rarely take the time to write a review of something - if I don't like a restaurant's food, I just don't eat it; but I know how hard it is to deliver the kind of care that my daughter is getting at this clinic - and we'll continue driving 45 minutes in traffic to get it.

Instead of feeling like my questions were being taken seriously and answered transparently, I ultimately felt as though my efforts to understand my daughter's care were being treated as a problem. At one point, my questions regarding my daughter's treatment were even characterized as harassment. That is deeply concerning to me. A parent asking when their child was treated, what treatment was provided, who authorized it, and requesting access to the child's medical information should not be made to feel inappropriate for asking those questions. My most recent experiences have only reinforced my concern about how difficult it has been to obtain clear, meaningful information regarding my daughter's healthcare. Whatever issues may exist between parents should not interfere with a medical provider communicating accurately and professionally about a child's care or maintaining appropriate medical records. I expect a pediatric practice to put the child first, maintain neutrality between parents, accurately document what occurs, and respond professionally when a parent has legitimate questions about their child's health. Unfortunately, my experience with Gold Star Pediatrics has left me with serious concerns about whether that standard has been met. I am sharing this because parents should be able to ask questions about their children's medical care without feeling dismissed, marginalized, or characterized negatively simply for seeking information.

I love the Derm Bar! This is going to be a long story, so bear with me. I've had issues with…read morerosacea and eczema for years and tried countless treatments, but nothing seemed to work. My regular MD prescribed a topical cream that helped with the flare-ups, flaking, and scaling, though it didn't eliminate or reduce the redness. I was content with the results until I lost the cream during a vacation. When I returned, my face was extremely itchy and almost purple. My doctor prescribed the cream again, and I was ready to fix the issue. Around the same time, my kids needed to see a dermatologist for their warts, which is how I discovered The Derm Bar. When Britney was helping my kids, she noticed my face and immediately wanted to help. She asked about my current treatment, not in a pushy way, but out of genuine concern. It turned out that the cream my doctor prescribed was a steroid, which had long-term repercussions and had caused my face to become dependent on it, hence the flare up when I lost it. Britney advised me to wean off the steroid and scheduled an appointment for me. She put me on a regimen of morning and evening creams and some medications to restore my skin's health. After a few weeks, my skin had significantly improved with just the creams--no more flakiness, itchiness, scaling, or burning. Britney also recommended a laser treatment, which has noticeably reduced the redness. The red nodules near my nostrils disappeared with just one zap. I'll be posting some pictures to show my progress. I can't express how wonderful my experience has been. The office and staff are incredibly friendly and great. Thanks to their services, I can now walk outside with just a tinted moisturizer and not feel embarrassed. It's truly been a life changer.
