One thing I didn't love was that, unlike other fragrance studios I've visited, you don't get to pour your own scents. Instead, the staff determines how much of each fragrance goes into your bottle. I would have preferred a more hands-on experience since that's part of the fun of creating a custom perfume. Pricing ranges from $85 to $120, depending on the bottle you choose, which is reasonable for a custom fragrance. This is a very fun and interesting experience but I don't think I'd go back. Let's get into that: 1. I don't understand how a perfume creating place has nothing to "cleanse" your senses between smellings. There are approximately 8 base perfumes to choose from, then they add approximately 8 scents based on your preferences to the base you choose... and you narrow that down to four options. Those get put on your skin and you go outside to smell them. Having no coffee beans or other scent to clear your palette makes this extremely confusing. Their advice? Smell your hair, skin, or shirt to cleanse your senses? ‍ bruh. 2. This should really be a two part situation and maybe the experience is better at home? Because when you put a perfume on everyone knows it blooms at different times so not being able to wear it for a long while is also something that is going to lead to disappointment. One I didn't really like right away smelled so good after a couple of hours on me. 3. Our perfumer was very nice and accommodating and made the experience fun but they do ask for tips on this service which you would not be asked for on the home kit. I also don't like that there was a verbal question of "getting the intense version" with no verbalizing of the $20 upcharge. I feel this should always be mentioned out loud if asked since not everybody reads the placard / information. 4. You can only put up to 9 characters on your bottle and I wish they would let you add more than that. As a one time thing I guess it's great, but definitely bring some coffee beans bc doing this in 30-60 mins without them was a challenge. We barely left in under an hour.

This is the most difficult part, choosing a winning combination. Ebony is very professional, personable and extremely knowledgeable. Attentive, patient, endlessly kind. Between the two of them, we felt like guests in someone's home rather than customers in a shop. We had an appointment last weekend for four of us. When we arrived, we had an extra child and were told that we would be required to pay a 12% gratuity because of the size of our party. I'm unsure what the gratuity would be for. We were shown the policy - it said for parties of 6 and up - which we clarified and she said she miscounted. There was no service offered other than a brief training on how to do the craft. We were not allowed to choose our own colors but were encouraged to pick from the ones that were pre-opened to not be wasteful. When we picked our pieces, we were warned many times that we would be charged if we were wasteful in our usage of the clay - and clearly that is a subjective decision. When asked at the end any advice on getting the clay out of clothing, she said "it doesn't" - which would have been helpful to know at the beginning when you have 3 kids under 10. I asked if they had aprons - and mentioned that it would have been helpful if this doesn't come out of clothes - and she said they do, but it's only available for parties and for an extra fee. Again - communication would have been incredibly helpful up front. At the end, we were cleaning up our station and the employee asked us to put away the four remaining beads that were left on the table. It seemed like an easy way for her to help us get out the door more quickly when she had nothing else to do but sit on her phone. At the end she wrote down the dry times for our pieces - 5 days - which again - would have been helpful to know at the beginning. Lastly - they sold some glass cups that our daughters wanted. One was marked $13, one $15 for the same cup. When we asked - she said they were $15, but there is a deal at 2 for $30. Not sure where the deal is in that - and when we made that comment - she shrugged -clearly annoyed. For a unique art place such as this, where creativity and art should be encouraged - there was a very big missed opportunity in making this a special place - I won't be back.
