I never had reason to cross Monarch's threshold until one Saturday when I was under orders to acquire some "novelties" to give out as prizes. Monarch did not disappoint. The interior looks like it has been in a comfortable state of decay for several years and is chockablock with decades old newspapers, stacks of yellowing receipts, and every conceivable piece of gimcrack imaginable. It's a place where Ignatius J. Reilly would feel right at home. I'm going to go back when I have time just to browse the overflowing floor-to-ceiling shelves.
