When we needed a new HVAC, we got an estimate from Frederick that was $1000+ over the estimate from another long-time, reputable local company. But out of loyalty to Frederick, we politely asked if they would shave $200 off to come *slightly* closer to this other quote. We actually hate haggling, but had read that you're expected to, for new HVAC. Can't hurt, right? They responded. Had they just said, "No, that's not possible due to XYZ," we would have hired them and paid the full price. But instead the rep explained why it wasn't possible, and then, in a polite but insulted tone, *rescinded their bid*, essentially telling us they would not be doing the job either way. All over a request for $200 off a $7000 job. We were stunned. Needless to say, we haven't called them for anything since, and we're the kind of easy-going, non-complaining customers contractors usually like to have. We got our HVAC at the other place and it's running fine, a few years later. Owner, if you're reading this: I get that you're doing well enough that you don't need to accept anyone's attempt to haggle, and can charge a lot more than the competition. Good for you. I'm purposefully not giving you a 1 star because I don't believe in trying to hurt someone's business. But talk to your guys about not reacting in a personal way to long-time customers. The reaction we got was really uncalled for. Maybe the guy was having a bad day, but you have to leave that behind when you're interacting with a customer, especially an established one. He could have just said "No, we can't do that, but let me know if you want to proceed with us." We would have.

Alexis, the very nice salesperson, gave me a quote on three systems, and helpful information to review. We chose Joseph Frederick & Sons because they are a certified Carrier provider and they only install Carrier systems. All of the HVAC professionals were friendly and explained the system well. The cleaned up after themselves.

working with Newark Delaware Aire Serv has been the worse and scary experience for me. And I'm not…read moreone to sit here and write reviews for no reason, but I feel if there's a chance I can help someone not make the mistake I just did than that's a good thing! So my AC system failed over a year and a half ago and as most would know it having ac systems repaired or replaced can be extremely expensive for some of us. So I had to save money for over a year. I called multiple companies got multiple quotes and went with this one. So aire serve gave me the best price and I decided to go with them. Just over 5300 for a new indoor coil and outside condenser. Someone came out, did their inspection, took measurements, sat down with me went over the options. So 5300. So April 3 2026 on a Friday two guys came out and installed the new ac system. And just a couple days later my outside unit has ice all over the lines and my basement floor had water all around the floor where the ac coils and furnace are. I called aire serve and they sent out a tech, so now I have no ac as I shut it off to avoid more water on the floor. The tech comes out and says I just need to top of the refrigerant, the pressure seems to be off, I'll be back in a hour. He comes back tops it off and still not right. He talks to someone named Matt and now it's a thermal expansion valve so now a few days go by with no ac because they have to order the part and schedule to install. Next a more senior tech comes out to do another inspection and install the TXV and this is where it gets worse! He says it's not the TXV valve, I'm now told that I have a rear/back facing air intake which not good at all. I'm told it needs a bigger duct coming off the side and pulling hotter air from up stairs and not cooler air from in the basement. So imagine this you finally are able to get the money together to fix your homes ac..... 5300.00 dollars! And are told after the fact now you need duct work for that ac to work properly and if I don't get the duct work done it will shorten the life expectancy of the compressor!! They sent out someone to check everything and sell me a system! You sell me a system and then later it's found out that I need duct work. That is something that should have been told to me from the very beginning!! Don't take over 5k from me and than later tell me oh sorry now you need to replace duct work too!!! It is aire serves job to have the information and knowledge of what they are working with and installing. If they sent someone out that knew what they were looking at I would have addressed the duct work problem and than taken care of the ac at a later date! But NO.... Now my money is gone and I have a non working ac. The last tech that came out talked to someone above him named Matt and basically I'm being told he was just sending it to managers above him. The tech tells me they are gonna work on a solution to make this right. And give them a day or two to reach out. I have been patient.... I have waited....and I got nothing from anyone. No phone calls, no help nothing. I'm sitting here with 5300 gone and no ac. I hired this company because I wanted the job done right and wanted the comfort and security of knowing that I will be taken care of for the next ten years and I felt I'm going to go with a good reputable company with good reviews. I don't have a lot of money and I wanted to feel protected with this big purchase. So if you can think about that. Imagine spending thousands, giving a company thousands of dollars of your money just to be told that purchase will not work right unless you replace duct work! That is your job as a hvac company to thoroughly explain this to me from the very beginning so that I can better decide the right route to take to make this right. If your person that came out to sell me the system doesn't have the knowledge or proper information that is YOUR problem not mine! Multiple visits multiple diagnoses multiple phone calls and no one will do anything to come up with a solution to this problem. and also an update on this situation they sent two manangers out to my house who spent a few hours here. didn't really say to much to me. in the end said ok now no duct work is needed. They won't be replacing or making anything right. this is what I was told After 2 install techs 2 service techs and 2 MANAGERS..... the two managers which one of them was extremely cocky and arrogant and tried to pin the malfuntioning of the system on me.... I was told oh we adjusted the fan speed!!!! The fan speed??? 6 people from air serve come out and you couldn't figure out my fan speed was off? So now I was told I can only run my ac on hotter days ok makes sense. Don't want to run it too cold. So I ran it again when it was well over 70.... and bam Iced coils again and condenser frozen and no cold air. The one manager said they would send someone out to replace the vinyl line from my condensation pump never saw that.

The workmen were experienced, efficient, knowledgeable, on time and very neat and the installation was done in one day. (Should I have been paying) From KC's pleasant & helpful voice over the phone to your delivery guys, you have a top notch organization. We were very pleased with the service we received - and our dogs were happy with the calling card and dog treats left on our door knob too!
