Sought a second opinion regarding issues that I was having from endurance cycling. After years in the saddle, it finally caught up to me. I was in so much pain in the perineum area, I couldn't even sit let alone cycle. After being diagnosed with "Prostatis" by my Urologist and prescribed numerous antibiotics eventhough he ruled out any form of bacterial prostatis, I decided to seek out a second opinion. After waiting three weeks to get in to see Dr. Gerber, I was amazed by how he treated me as a patient. The visit consisted of his resident doing all the inquiries and performing the rectal exam. Dr. Gerber stopped by to tell me that I have an enlarged prostate as well as prostatis. He then told me to schedule another appointment in 6 weeks. Pompous is the best word to describe his attitude. My GP referred me to another urologist who referred me to another doctor. He actually performed an ultra-sound and rule out prostatis as well as BPH. It turns out my pain derives from muscle damage from too many hours on the saddle. I am now being treated by Dr. Shiela Dugan at Rush who specializes in Pelvic Pain. read more
