The root canal was done on a tooth under an existing bridge, which required great skill, and the procedure went smoothly with minimal discomfort. My mother also had a root canal on a wisdom tooth on one side. Dr. Chen handled it with great care, and her recovery was smooth. An hour later, after Dr. Rana Skaff had pronounced "root canal, retreatment" of my bottom R rear molar, I was headed to Dr. Jack Yu and his team of pros at Grandview Endodontics. Everyone that I interacted with, from Office Manager DARLENE to dental nurses JUDY and UELSY to the (very) good doctor himself were consummate pros. They nimbly squeezed me in for a 1:30pm appt despite never hearing of me til 10:30am. They took their diagnostic X-Rays with gentle yet efficient care, treating the swollen, painful tooth; the pain so gnarly it was radiating to my jaw bone and pulsing in perfect synchronized time w/ my heartbeat. Dental Nurse Judy and Dr. Yu work beautifully together! Watching them -eyeballs close yet strangely detached due to multiple rounds of local anesthesia administered- is like watching an orchestra. Each person anticipating the other's need then flashing forward to meet it. I was in the chair, from diagnostic X-Rays to finance/insurance docs to actual treatment, from 1:45pm til 3:35pm. Time immeasurably well spent considering the world of misery I was in for the preceding 48hrs 'til I could get treatment. Pro Q- Is it meeeh or do most infections requiring root canal start on the weekend, when the vast majority of dentists/endodontists are unavailable?! Pro Tip- Dr. Yu is a major proponent of utilizing Gentle Wave / Clean Flow technology as an accompaniment to his root canals. Let him!!! I had been having a tooth ache for months and my regular dentist (who is fantastic- Dr. Robin Su) told me that I more than likely needed a root canal as my tooth had been cracked and it was not going to improve. Without boring you with the details, Dr. Robin referred me to Upland Endodontix. So throughout my life, all I've heard was that root canals are terrible and literally everyone had nothing but negative things to say about them. I mean people have even said "I'd rather have my appendix removed before having a root canal". Well, needless to say I was not overly excited about this and even contemplated just living with the pain. Well, fast forward. I walk into the office and was pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff. Ashley and Alexis handled all the paperwork and were very friendly and professional. After only a few moments, I was brought back where I met Al, who took care of me the entire time. He was very helpful and explained everything in detail. Dr. Vu was also very professional and completed the process in about 30 minutes. Seriously, a root canal in 30 minutes. Now let me tell you I hate needles. I mean Ive had several big surgeries and before this, I would have put this right up at the top- total sissy. But as for the process, I could not have been more wrong. When I say this entire process was nothing worse than having a normal cavity filling, that's how I would describe it. Sure it's more in depth but the way they handled was very straight forward- you get a few shots, they cover your face, and do some drilling and filling. What started on a Saturday night became an hour-by-hour struggle. We first saw a dentist on Monday, where they diagnosed an infection, prescribed amoxicillin and 800 mg ibuprofen, and recommended extracting the tooth. Unfortunately, the medication provided very little relief, and the pain continued. We sought a second opinion on Wednesday. That office recommended a root canal but didn't have an endodontist available and couldn't see her until the following week. With my wife still in significant pain, I spent most of the night and early am searching specifically for an endodontist who could see her as soon as possible. We came across Upland Endodontix. We had actually been considering another office, but after reading reviews, I didn't feel as confident. The professionalism and consistency of the reviews here gave us a much better feeling, so we reached out. They contacted us first thing Thursday morning and scheduled her for a 2:00 p.m. appointment that same day. From the moment we arrived, everyone was professional, kind, communicative, and genuinely caring. The doctor explained everything clearly, treated her very gently, and was able to save the tooth with a root canal. The difference afterward was incredible. Before treatment, even with antibiotics and prescription-strength ibuprofen, the pain never really went away--it was only slightly dulled. After the procedure, the same medications actually eliminated her remaining discomfort, allowing her to finally begin recovering. She was in and out in about 45-50 minutes, and the experience couldn't have gone better. We're incredibly grateful to the entire team for fitting her in so quickly and providing such excellent care.
