I had a very disappointing and unprofessional experience at this office. My appointment was scheduled for 1:30 PM, yet I waited over two hours with no updates. When I asked the front desk for an estimate, I was told "10 minutes," which turned into another 30 minutes on top of the long wait. When the dentist finally came in, he did not greet me, introduce himself, or explain anything. He came in grunting, immediately grabbed my bottom lip with force, and said "lots of tartar" -- which I already knew, that's why I scheduled the appointment. He then walked away to see another patient. Meanwhile, he spoke politely and attentively to the next patient, asking her about her concerns -- I was never asked how I was feeling, what my symptoms were, or anything about my pain. After this brief interaction, the dentist never returned. After nearly three hours in the office, I was told no treatment would be done that day. I was only given a prescription, and even that was communicated indirectly through the assistant while he was in the room. This experience felt dismissive, disrespectful, and completely unprofessional. Patients deserve basic courtesy, communication, and consent -- none of which I received here. read more

Don't recommend at all, as soon as you go in feels off, Dr is rude, the assistant and front office very nice !

They hardly ever answer their phone. I have also had bridge work done, cavities filled and other extensive work done there. The work done was not done correctly or with any care to make it right. The bridge alone was not done correct and the teeth continued to hit without being placed on straight or correct causing it to wear down and eventually cause the tooth hitting the bridge constantly making the bridge wear down and fail causing more damage having the tooth it covered become infected which needed a major root canal and another bridge built correctly. I finally went to a new professional dentist who even made the comment, "Oh my God who put this bridge in, this is terrible work" He continued to say he doesn't like to talk about other dentists in the field of work but it was so horrible he said, I would not go there again. I have other issues with the other work Paul Chang did but that is just one example that ended up causing extreme pain and about $4,000 out of pocket to fix and make right what was poorly done. I would NOT recommend going here. The only good thing at this place were the ladies that worked the front desk. They were nice, but the dentist work here you could get a better job done by a student attending dentistry school.... read more

So, I went here because it was the only one I could find open during the covid ordeal. Initially it went fine. Was able to get in right after work. I immediately got really turned off when he went straight to suggesting pulling the tooth and doing an implant, after I told him I wasn't interested in an implant and my insurance covers 0% of implants. He then referred me to a place for a possible root canal or to see if it was possible to save the tooth. But of course it wouldn't be able to be saved because a root canal pays much more. And an implant costs even more! So, he set me up with the place for the root canal, and gave me a prescription for Motrin and amoxicillin. Except when he wrote the prescription, he spelled my name wrong and marked me down as a female. I'm obviously not female. So I spent all weekend in pain, since they're not open on weekends and he doesn't have an emergency number. 20 minutes at rite aid, then 20 minutes at Kaiser and both wouldn't fill it due to the errors and him not answering his phone. So I called the following Monday and left a message. Never got a call back. Going on a week and still no response. If the guy doesn't know how to do basic work, like fill out a prescription, why would anyone let him inside your mouth. I wouldn't use this guy again and wouldn't use anyone he recommends. read more

When I first called them, the front desk lady Christine was very helpful and friendly; so I decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed, everyone in the office was just as nice and helpful. Dr. Kao spoke very patiently, took his time and explained his diagnosis and treatment. Office manager Lisa was also a down to earth and interesting person to chat with. I went to Paul C Chang D.D.S. on June 2021. I had not gone to a dentist sooner because of COVID-19 pandemic. This doctor has the worst bedside manner I've ever seen. He had the nerve to laugh at my condition because my tooth was cracked and food was getting stuck in my tooth. He wasn't the doctor that I wanted to fix my tooth. He was rough when examining my tooth and sneezed on me during the exam. I think he doesn't like certain people. I got out of his office as soon as I could. I called my dentist that has done work on my teeth before. I wouldn't let Doctor Chang touch my worst enemy. read more

Had a nice crown done several years ago. When it was done, the dentist told me it would last 15-20 years. Well recently it came out. So I went back and to have it looked at and replaced. And then he told me he would never make such claims! When I asked him how long a new crown would last, he said ... 15-20 years. The dentist here was just misleading and he was reluctant to take care of it unless I cough up $800! I went to another dentist for a second opinion and was told that my crown was poorly done and placed so it came off so easily. All in all misleading information, questionable ethnics, and poor dental work. Run from this place! read more

Disclaimer: Not the best teeth ever. I take care of them, but I've got health problems that make things a bit tricky... Let's get to the point. The check up was more painful than it needed to be. I recently switched from a PPO to an HMO, and I was only getting the check up so I could establish a relationship with some dentist given my dental history. This was one of the few places I found reviewed on Yelp, so I gave it a go. 1) The office was nice and inviting. The receptionists were also nice. The dental assistant was friendly, if not a bit chatty. 2) The dentist smells like b.o. and cigarette smoke. I might not even mention it if it weren't for 3) During the check up and the cleaning he prodded the hell out of my teeth. I've quite the pain tolerance, but this guy pushed me to my limits. I'm not sure if he was just insensitive or trying really hard for me to get the really expensive teeth cleaning (which I refused, because I literally had a deep cleaning 3 months ago). THEN, when I opted for the the cheaper cleaning, he came in and did it in such a rushed manner. Not only was it loud and painful, he also just left the suction tube in my mouth without removing it or having the hygienist help him. I kind of started manipulating it myself, but let go after he kept hammering at my teeth. By the end of the cleaning the area connecting my tongue to my mouth was bright red with blood because the suction of the tube had pulled it raw. When I showed the hygienist, she shrugged it off and said it would go away soon. They want me to come back in a couple of months for a follow up (and probably the deep cleaning I avoided) but I'm going to keep researching new places until I find someone who's compatible with my current insurance. In the meantime, I have a sad and sore mouth to tend to. read more

The office has a calm atmosphere and seems to be very clean. One thing though is that the office is a little hard to find because it's on the second floor of a medical plaza. Otherwise, the staff and the dentists I've seen so far have been patient and nice. read more

I just completed a new "round" of dental work of fillings, cleaning, and a crown, and all was done in an expeditious manner in two appointments. Zero pain and the lowest pricing I have seen. I went to Paul C Chang's Dental Inc on Friday April 5, 2019 around 11:45 AM because I was experiencing excruciating pain because of my back tooth. After I got an x-ray Dr. Paul said that I have a root canal and I must get emergency surgery that day and to get a referral to get it surgically removed or fixed. The receptionist informed me that she was going to send the referral to my insurance and that she was going to call me back that day. A little over an hour passed and I did not hear back from her so I called back and asked if the referral was sent. She said that she left a message and tried calling my insurance but they were not answering. She suggested that I get prescription for painkillers. I told her that I cannot because painkillers make me throw up. After speaking with her I called my insurance again to see if the referral was sent. They informed me that the dentist office did not send a referral. I called the dentist and told the receptionist to send it through email. The receptionist told me that no one answered the phone again. After calling insurance again I was notified that a voice message was never received. By this Time the dentist office was closed. Saturday and Sunday was tormenting because I was in excruciating pain which I increased during the night. I had throbbing pain in my mouth which caused me to have migraines. I couldn't function and had to sit up and shake my leg while waiting for the pain to stop. I only got 4 hours of sleep a night because I was in so much pain. I even took a pain killer out of desperation threw up at 3AM three hours after taking the pill. I threw up so much that I spat up blood. I took a day off April 8, 2019 with intentions of getting my tooth fixed. Around 9:30 AM I called the dentist with my insurance's customer service rep on three way, to see if the referral was sent. A different receptionist told me shes was writing the referral today and that she will send it when it's done. I asked the receptionist why it wasn't written down on Friday when I was there. She said that there was an emergency and other receptionist couldn't finish it. I would've been able to see someone today if they would have done their job. Now I have to wait 72 hours in pain until I see an oral surgeon. read more

I have been looking for a good dentist for a while and was referred by a friend to this dentistry. While it was a drive for me from my home, it was most definitely worth it. Dr. Chin and the rest of the staff were friendly and responsive to my concerns. I ended getting a deep cleaning and some fillings on some cavities. Dr. Chin expressed some concerns regarding an old filling and gave me the discretion to redo the filling. I agreed and thankfully this option was made available because she was then able to find some decay underneath that filling that the x-Ray was not able to fully catch. Had a killer toothache...went to Paul Changs office. First time there, we had switched dental plans, thus changed dental offices. Reception was very good, assistants were very understanding of my pain and tried to accomodate me quickly, as well as help me alleviate my pain as they prepped a chair/ got my insurance set. Fixed me up, unfortunately, had to lose a tooth, but overall they did a great job..!! Dr Chang is very good, very informative, overall a great experience...!! They charged me $60 for a consultation and $80 for x-rays, because I had no insurance at the time. It took them over an hour to take the x-rays because they were using an old machine and they charged me $10 to get a copy of the x-rays. The final report that the dentist (Dr. Daniel Liang) gave us stated that my wife need over $10,000 worth of work. We had gone to three dentists before and they all gave us much lower estimates from around $2,000 to $6,000. He found problems in three teeth that none of the other dentist had mentioned. I absolutley love Dr. Chang. I have recently had a run of terrible dentist in the Upland/Rancho Cucamonga area and decided to try Dr. Chang and I could not be happier. I have had 3 teeth pulled and at least 8 or 9 cavities filled by him. The work is excellent and very quick he really knows his stuff. I just had two wisdom teeth pulled yesterday and I was already eating pizza for dinner tonight. The cavities were done so perfectly the first time unlike my last dentist at Smile Care I had to go back 3 times and even then it was not fixed I just gave up and switched. The office staff and all the dental assistants are excellent very helpfull, understanding and just over all kind hearted people. The staff was very friendly and made me feel at ease. I didn't feel rushed or hurried, they were very kind and professional.
