When it comes to death, most people are very scared and sad to address and approach the situation, which is understandable and not judged. A couple of weeks ago. a dear friend of mine lost her younger sister due to cancer. She was only 39 years YOUNG!! The news not only devastated her own family, but also her closest friends. It is what it is. Staff at this memorial home in Glendale were so professional, attentive, kind, caring, loving, helpful and very compassionate. The services were done with pride, excellence and dignity. They are not as commercialized as Forest Lawn and other Memorial Homes. They do all types of services from cremation, burial, scattering the ashes and more. The chapel itself was a nice, descent size and was very clean and maintained. They have an office where you can talk to someone to decide about everything in general. A place to have meetings, or simply have lunch after the services. We didn't use that room. We went to my friend's house and had lunch over at her place. The cost of their services vary depending on the package that you choose. When I go, I would like for my funeral/services to be held here. For now, I am NOT planning to go anytime soon. Life is beautiful, but only God knows our timing and when to take us to our eternal and final resting place. I came here for a service to support my godmother. This place was fantastic. Took care of our family and there's even a reception room where all of us could sit and eat. Our family revolves around food so it's no surprise how accommodating this funeral home is. It was clean, ample street parking, and the reception room was able to host so many of us. My Mother recently passed and we found The Glendale Funeral Home on-line to hold our Celebration of Life Event. I worked with Julia Manzano from start-to-finish. She arranged for catering from Portos (including plates, drinks, napkins, water), Flowers, a Priest, the AV equipment, Seating for 118, podium, guest books, and easels. She was present throughout the 3-hour event and made everything run very smoothly. It was excellent and exceeded our expectations. The facillity was beautiful and clean and easily held our 90 guests. The Priest was excellent, the food was very good and the Audio Visual presentation was perfect. In my family's time of need, Glendale Funeral Home was a much needed dependable and trustworthy source. A family member had unexpectantly gone into critical condition and out of nowhere, we were in need of funeral services. Having never done this before, reached out to a whole bunch of different places. Of all the ones we saw, Glendale was the one who made us feel the most comfortable. Ed, Sarah, and Gary all from the beginning we very open and communicative. As far as the chapel they have, it was the most peaceful and sunlit one we saw from the 7 we visited. It's nicer and more open than some of the ones we saw that were more than double the price. Also, it's non-denominational by default so for those who wanted that flexibility. For us, this combination was absolutely what we were looking for. A special shoutout to Ed, who I primarily worked everything out with. Ed was hands down amazing throughout the whole process. He helped guide me through all the different steps, worked within what our budget could be, and even more importantly understood and accommodated the type of ceremony we wanted (a mix of some Buddhist rituals with western ones). He made sure all the arrangements (flowers, Military Honor Guard, etc.) we're in place for it to be as easy as possible for me to take care of while I had the other big things on my plate. This was our first time dealing with a funeral first hand, we had lots of questions and felt lost. We had little clue of what the process and cost we're going to be. When Ed Brail reach out to us by phone to set up a meeting we felt comfort the way he spoke and answered some of our questions. One of my friends recently died & the service was held here. It was sad, he had planned to celebrate his birthday the next day, in Paris. This was the friend that introduced me to Urth Caffe. Parking was very challenging. Not much space in the lot, maybe 20 spaces? I drove and drove around the neighborhood side streets looking for a spot. Which gave me an overview of some restaurants/bakeries that I might like to try in the future. I guess I got some exercise walking to and from this funeral parlor. The interior was kind of bleak. Fluorescent lighting in the foyer, dim lighting in main seated area, which looks like it could hold about 100 people comfortably. Maybe they are trying to conserve electricity. Not the happiest place on earth. Their kitchen had coffee and people brought in pastries. But no hot water was available for tea. I would not want my funeral to be held here. However the staff were polite and helpful. My friend was in the AIr Force, thus they allowed guns to be shot in the parking lot - impressive. Rey, may you rip. read more

Congratulations! I was at a viewing (2nd floor) today, Wednesday, July 20, 2022. There was a lady representative in attendance on the 2nd floor, and her support was par excellence! There was a problem because I did not get the correct order from my florist and she was a calming influence. She assisted in pinning a corsage on the widow because I could not handle it and I am so grateful for her excellent attention and support to mourners. Then I had to locate a telephone number and again she found it, patiently looking online. My grandma recently passed away and my family chose this facility to host her wake. This place is pretty small, in my opinion, but the inside seemed very warm. We used a small room to view her and to sit and reminisce about our lives with her. I noticed that there are plenty of spaces within the place to sit and be alone if you need to be, plenty of tissue boxes surround the place also. The place was clean and there was water, tea, coffee available. Also, very kind people that work here as well, I was very impressed by how sympathetic and kind. The parking lot is pretty small though, if you have a large party, guests are going to have to park on the street as those spaces are going to go fast. read more

My husband and I had a peculiar situation as we needed to make arrangements for my mom to be transferred to California from Arizona. There were a lot of logistics in getting my mom to the cemetery, including an overnight at a local mortuary, before her graveside service. The staff at East Lawn in Tucson were on top of everything from start to finish. Michelle, Judith and the two staff members who transported my mom were amazing. Even with the holidays in the way, all the paperwork and logistics were completed for a 28th of December burial. I write a review on this site to add the staff at Glendale Funeral Home. They where amazing and loving with our family, even though we had not gone through them initially. We met with Edward the day she arrived to check in on things and he was welcoming and helpful. My family has held several wakes here over the years and the staff has always been empathetic, kind and held my family and their friends to the highest regard. Recently, my grandmother passed away and I found myself back here, they went all out for funeral. While we held a vigil and mass where the casket were, two flat screen tv's adorned on each side of the casket played a collage of her whole life. I could see people smile and cry as each picture appeared. At the funeral ceremony it went off a hitch. As stated before, parking is a bit of a headache and it's not the most adorned morturary that I've been too but as in the saying goes it's not the house but the people that built that house that makes some place comfortable and it looks like everyone was quite content. People moved freely inside and we stuffed that kitchen area w/ every inch that was available we filled it in with food. read more

My parents had used Glendale Funeral Home for decades (when it was previously known as Callanan Mortuary). My dad last used them for my mom, and finally last month I used them for Dad when he finally passed. I was preparing myself for an unpleasant experience and an unwanted hard sell. Nothing was further from the case. The facility is lovely, modern and convenient to get to and park. Edward listened respectfully and organized the arrangements exactly as I wanted them and there was NO pressure to include anything other than what I said I wanted. All costs were carefully explained.
