I Love Glendale... People who doesn't like Armenians.. stop being emotional... It's not that hard. If you don't like it..then don't come around . THAT SIMPLE. geeesshhh

I had a meeting today with the supervisor and we talked about the high rent issue in the city and how it is driving the middle class families with the kids at school with almost no choice but move out of the city . But WAIT , can we all get together and think this through. Is it really a good idea to change the kids school. The group of investors that like Glendale are people too. I am sure they have kids. They can understand that as well. I am hoping there could be a solution that every one is happy specially the kids.

It should have been 5 stars since it was a beautiful day but since the City of Glendale is lacking in common sense, and continuous sidewalks, it was a great big pain in the ass. 9.5 miles turns into 10.2 miles due to sidewalk-lameness. What is the deal?! Why can't the sidewalks continue, uninterrupted, so I don't have to keep walking 2-3 blocks out of the way to stay out of the street!!!??? Glenoaks (from Grandview till Concord) is fine, but then you have to head North/East-ish all the way till you get back to Brand Blvd (a 6 block detour!!!) Heading north on Verdugo, you have to stay to the left side of the road (don't take the College side of Canada or you'll be IN the street for at least 2 mils-no sidewalks) then cross the street at Country Club Drive because the sidewalk disappears next to the golf course without warning. It's nice to see the neighborhood on foot but c'mon Glendale, why not add continuous sidewalks...and while your at it, make REAL BIKE LANES!!! Get with the program City of Glendale!!!

Not only did your city, the mayor, the council members do nothing to work with me, after a year of not returning calls, not taking any meetings in the Mayor's Office, they divided that my flowers are a problem. This is what I had done. I had taken a piece of land that was supposed to have a sidewalk put in. The city of Long Beach didn't put anything in. The businesses had been begging the city to put in a side walk because it had become an eyesore. People dumped used oil, paint and trash on this land regularly. The land was also infested with moles leaving holes and tunnels making it very dangerous to walk on the land because you regularly stepped to holes and twisting your ankle. The owners had even offered to pay for the sidewalk themselves. The city refused. So, I put in a park to clean up the toxic chemicals, as in eatable plants that are healthy for you and the City of Long Beach thinks this is a really bad idea.... Don't move here. Don't live here. The mayor and the city council aren't working in your interest. They only care about things that make them look good. God forbid, a homeless person be allowed to make your community better. And the park is installed at the corner of 14th Street and Harbor.

I was born and raised in Highland Park (HLP). Growing up it was a rough neighborhood. In recent…read moreyears things have changed. Gentrification happened. Now the area has nice restaurants, trendy shops, and hip bars. Back in the day there was only one bar on Figueroa. Now there are 8 that I can think of at the top of my head. There was a time when no one had ever heard of HLP. Now when I mention it they say, "I know that place. Such & such is there!" Located 10 miles from Downtown LA and adjacent to South Pasadena, HLP was one of the first subdivisions of Los Angeles. The neighborhood is 3.42 sq miles and Paleo-Indians were the first inhabitants. In 1895 it was annexed to Los Angeles and become home to aspiring artists in the early 20th century. Lovely Victorian and Craftsman homes were everywhere. Developers started tearing them down until the city stepped in and declared the neighborhood historic. (Some of these homes are preserved at Heritage Square Museum.) Now, when a business is sold the original sign must remain, which is why you'll see the El Arco Iris sign at Barcade's location. The few Victorian homes that are remaining and historic buildings have become Historic Cultural Monuments and can no longer be torn down and house remodels must follow strict design plans. Notable people have called HLP home: Maggie Baird, Jackie Beat, Beck, Jackson Browne, Billie Eilish, Finneas O'Connell, Zach de la Rocha, & Diane Keaton. A number of famous movies have been shot here: Reservoir Dogs, Cyrus, Gangster Squad, Yes Man - to name a few. It is also home to Chicken Boy. Believe it or not, he has his own National Day, September 1st. Anyway, HLP is my hometown. I'm grateful it's safe to walk around the neighborhood now. I'm grateful there are a number of cool shops, restaurants, & bars that I can go to. I'm very grateful my grandfather left me his home, which he bought in the '70s, because there is no way I could afford to buy a house in this neighborhood now.

My mom passed away in 2017, my close friend and landlord Jerald (the first person I met when I came to California in 1977) had a quadruple bypass surgery 11 days ago (he's healing well, for 84 years), and my good friend Erik passed away 4 days ago, I have known him since I came to California too. Don't worry, I am seeing a psychiatrist and psychotherapist, things have been that bad. And in comes Evelyn. She went above and beyond to help me out, she paid the electric bill (I have to call her on Jan. 2 to make sure about gas funding), and to top it all off, she brought me a cart full of groceries, all name brand and all stuff we use. She is truly an angel on this Earth. She deserves a much-needed raise. She didn't have to do the things she did. And she was so pleasant and upbeat, it completely changed my frame of mind. Evelyn deserves some kind of award alongside th e aforementioned raise. Evelyn, thank you so, so, so much! Merry Christmas, have a wonderful New Year, and may God bless! Cristine Khoury
