I am in love with this library. It is warm and inviting and all the staff are wonderful! I love new fiction and am able to easily find recent fiction books in a particular section, making it easy to discover new books! I can easily get holds from the library by making requests online and picking them up from this branch. There is a used bookstore inside the library as well which has a great selection of good quality books! There's always something new to find each week! There is parking out front, a parking lot next to the entrance, and a parking lot on the backside that lets you enter through the second story. Also, they offer great programs if you keep your eyes peeled! I also appreciate that this is an easy place to drop off voting ballots out front. read more

What a great location in the local community! This property is very clean. They have helpful staff and a great kids section. I especially like the computers for the kids to practice using. Parking lot is a bit small. If it's full you will have to park on the streets which is not ideal. read more

Libraries are gifts. Librarians saints. Free books and services to your heart's desire. What a blessing to have you!!

Nice seating inside, clean, good lighting, etc. But the staff is so rude. You feel like you're talking to prison cell guards rather than librarians. They make you feel guilty for nothing LOL. As long as you don't have to deal with them then it's a nice vibe. read more

I always put books on hold online and pick them up when they're ready. Self check out is easy and librarians are always glad to help check out if that's what you prefer. I used to take my kids here when they had cool in person events. I hope they'll have those again soon. Last year they had an In N Out kids' reading program where for every 5 titles they read they get a card for a free burger (earn up to 3 cards max per child). Such an awesome incentive to get kids reading! read more

LA County Library - La Crescenta Library - Such a fun book for kids. Some ideas are a little "dark" though. Love putting books on hold online and picking ones like this in person! - Libraries Near Me - La Crescenta, California

Librarians are friendly and helpful. Thankful for the librarian from the youth section who helped me find titles for my child based on his age level and interests. You can ask for free Covid tests to take home at the counter. Plenty of parking available on the street or in their two lots. read more

This place is really nice had really nice employees, however one thing I wish they didn't have is for someone to buzz and unlock the restroom door. That however is not under my control or the librarians control so I'll just say they helped me with everything. I asked them for bus schedules and they gave me them. I also lost my original library card and they were able to help me get another one. read more

I go to this library every week with my daughter. The staff has always been nice and helpful towards us. The library is small so, smaller selection, but they have everything you need, and, our girl loves coming here. read more

Library: a haven, a resource, windows to worlds of imagination and information. While I have another local library that I patronize more frequently, the La Crescenta Library is invaluable in that it's part of the larger County library system. As a patron, you can search their huge catalog and request books, dvds, and other items from the county-wide system to be sent to your local branch. It's easy as pie and very convenient, not to mention free. The La Crescenta Library is clean, comfortable, has lots of computers and Wi-Fi access if you prefer to use your own electronic device. Parking in the lot or ample street parking. Long live libraries. read more

Taking one star away with having to ask the librarian to buzz and unlock the door every time someone wants to use the restroom. 1) We're adults. Not children. We do not need a bathroom monitor. 2) The library is a public institution. The restrooms should be opened to the public, just like many other public libraries which are still kept clean i.e. Buena Vista Library. I know that this is for the purpose of shunning out the homeless, but that seems cruel to not let them use the bathroom. read more

A decent library that is kept relatively quiet. There are quite a few homeless people there consistently, but they are typically pretty respectful. It is a little small but is often not busy enough for this to pose an issue. All but one of the librarians are very kind and helpful. One, whom I will not name, seems to live in a grumpy and contentious state. I was tutoring some children there and she seemed to be very annoyed by my presence. She also told me that I was not allowed to tutor two students at the same library? read more

I'd give this place 4 stars if it weren't for the Librarian who walks around talking loudly to people. She'll talk to people across the room while she puts books back, or when showing someone where something is she talks in a loud voice. I come here to study and this is a major interruption. Odd that the Librarian is the loudest person here. read more

Came to this library earlier this week. I like the computer section here better than the one in La Canada because there are dividers between the computers. More privacy. You get 10 free pages for printing just like at La Canada library. Free parking- 2 different areas. Large childrens section. read more

Not my favorite public library, but it'll do because it's closer to my house than other libraries. The place is outdated and not Thay comfortable to sit and do work. The hours are inconvenient and not open late enough. PARKING Available in small lot read more

Perhaps it's not their fault. It's great to see a library so well-used by the community. However, it is the very reason for its downfall. The La Crescenta Library is a small establishment with a few book sections dedicated to the reading community of La Crescenta. I came here last week to study but failed to find a spot to park myself. Every study table and nooks and crannies were filled with people engaged in their materials. (Kudos, La Crescentans!) I was hoping to find a peaceful place where I can dive into my work, but I was more stressed and discouraged by the lack of space. The parking was quite a challenge too. Their parking area is small and busy. It took a few minutes to get parking. If this library continues to cater to a well-established amount of people, maybe it's time for them to expand. I'm sure the neighborhood will appreciate it. Don't you think? Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps! read more

Miss them since they closed for COVID-19. Especially all their Summer activities for kids. Glad to see we can now pick up books on hold. read more

Wow!! Such an incredibly rude staff of librarians. I was in the kid's area reading out loud to my two year old niece, I obviously wasn't yelling but yet I was told I needed to be quieter because people were studying....uh...first of all why are they studying in the children's area of the library and looking for quiet and second, since when is reading to a child looked down upon in a library??!! My second complaint is that I took my 9 year old niece here to pick out some Pop-up books, she's very artistic and has started making her own pop-up books at home and was looking for more ideas. After spending about 20-30 minutes she decided on 3 books. We waited about 15 minutes to check out, only to be told that we were not allowed to check out pop-up books!! What??!! The very rude librarian brushed us off by telling us that "if we let you take them home they would come back damaged!". She then walked away from us. No where on the shelf, or on the books does it say the books that you cannot check them out. Couldn't any book be ruined??? Isn't that the risk you take??? This place is insane and not encouraging of children's imagination. Not a surprise it has such a low rating.... read more

LA County Library - La Crescenta Library - Great selection of artistic and beautiful pop- up books....unfortunately you cannot check them out. This is not posted anywhere!! - Libraries Near Me - La Crescenta, California

I was so excited when this library opened! But it's a disappointment. The architecture is very nice, the kids section is beautiful, it's clean, and has a great selection of books. The problem? Is there ONE librarian here who is 1) friendly, 2) speaks English fluently, and 3) has any knowledge of American literature? I have had no luck finding a librarian in the kids' section who speaks good English, likes kids, and can give me advice on books for my two boys, who are avid readers! One of the librarians could not help us at all when we were doing a book report on Johnny Appleseed - she didn't know who he was! My recommendation - go to the library in Montrose, next to the fire department. The people there are helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Their selection is not as good, but you can order books online and have them sent there. The kids' librarian in Montrose is a gem - she has recommended so many great books to my sons, and we count on her! My recommendation on the La Crescenta Branch? Avoid it, until they upgrade their staff. read more

Never been to a louder library in my life: kids running around, people reserving private room to talk on their phone - LOUDLY, staff pushing the cart around super loud also. Basically if you need to study you better have them earplugs out or you'd get too frustrated to even focus on anything. What a shame, La Crescenta is such a lovely neighborhood you wouldn't expect such environment in a library. read more

I used to live across the street from this branch but only visited for recreation (when EXTREMELY bored) to peruse cook books and trashy romance novels. Here I learned from one of the books I came across that Martha Stewart was a former model. I don't know why but it was uncomfortably shocking at the time. The library is currently under construction but they used to host a good story time during which my mom would guide her preschoolers across the street to attend. Story time is currently held at Crescenta Valley Park. More info regarding the construction: http://www.colapublib.org/libs/lacrescenta/ read more

This is a nice ass library! I'm surprised the County of Los Angeles can do anything this nice. I was expecting some piece of shit place that smelled like urine, but nope! No urine smell anywhere. Not even that musty book smell you sometimes get at older libraries. Nah, this location has dope ventilation. And guess what, they have TWO FUCKING PARKING LOTS! That is some baller ass shit. I'm always encouraged by libraries because they convince me that society isn't yet a steaming pile of shit. Like most libraries I go to, this one was packed full of children and adults. People still read! Not only that, they still check out books! I'm not the only one! It makes sense. Why pay so much money for books? You, J Gatsby or something who needs to fill out his gigantic library? Otherwise, just borrow the books. And if you feel bad about not supporting the authors, do like me and buy the books that are actually good so you can add them to your collection. My only tip for this library is I hope you don't have to go to the service desk because it's going to take a long ass time to get anything done. It's not that the nice ladies behind the counters are slow, but there's probably going to be some asshole asking a million questions or some asshole (me) buying TAP cards for the Metro and taking up the workers' time because they're not familiar with the process. Also, if you're going to buy TAP cards, bring cash. read more

Love this place since it's been renovated. There is plenty of workspace, free wifi, and private rooms. But, some of the librarians are really rude! There is one older lady who I love, she is nice and very helpful. Overall, the library gives you access to many resources. Be sure to keep in mind your first 10 prints are free! read more

For a library, there is WAY too much noise! Counter intuitive. Counter productive. An utter and complete disregard for common decency, and plain rules of the library. People cannot adjust their inside voices and feel the urge to gossip, and disturb and distract others. It's not just the people who come to use the library, but it's also the EMPLOYEES and volunteers. The employees' belief that they don't need to follow the simple rule of not talking OUT LOUD is the most frustrating thing. Well, that and the volunteers pushing noisy carts around the aisles with 4 books on it!!! Library is somewhere people come to get away from the noise, read a book or concentrate on studying. If I wanted to hear gossip and rumors id go to a coffee shop. At least there you expect the noise and it's not even that distracting. Only thing saving it from getting 1 star are the hours. Open 7 days a week and the hours saved this library! read more

My favorite library in the area (compared to La Canada and Pasadena library). It's clean and the bathrooms are clean (really important for those long study sessions!). The librarians are great - patient, helpful. There are 2 study rooms you can reserve when you arrive by putting your name down on a list. If you want one, be sure to sign up immediately when you arrive as it may be occupied and you might have to wait a little. The bathrooms are locked so every time you go, you have to ask a librarian to unlock it at the front desk. The is the only downside but I'm sure that's for safety reasons. Typically there is always a space available to study ranging from individual study desks to larger group study desks. Of course there's free WiFi but you have to first get your library card with its log on information to enter when prompted in your internet browser. No eating or drinking anything besides water inside, but there's a nice cafe called Tickle Tree next door where you can get your food/caffeine re-fueling. 2 parking lots above and below! read more

I really commend the La Crescenta Library on Foothill. This was my first time picking up my holds curbside. Just called the library to say I was coming. They confirmed my name and said it would be ready in 5 minutes. Parked my car on the street near the front entrance on Foothill. I walked up to the front with mask. One of the staff held up a sign to ask what my last name was. I yelled out my name. But next time I will remember to have my own sign with my last name. The library staff grabbed my bag with books and placed it on the outside table and went back inside. And then I just grabbed it and was on my way! Easy Peasy!! OH! And the librarian asked if I wanted the summer reading card and arts and crafts, I did and she put them in our bag! Yay! read more

worst place to study!!!! so freakin loud. They have a drumming class on the 2nd floor...IN A LIBRARY!! unbelievable. read more

I absolutely adore LaCrescenta but ever since the library was upgraded it is more of a rec center then a library. I don't know what's worse, the loud children running around or the librarians yelling at the top of their lungs when asked a question. What part of LIBRARY do the employees fail to understand. You can hear the conversations at the front desk from the individual study areas at the other end. Today, much like every other day, I had to literally close my ears with my fingers to block out the loud voice of the librarian. On a different occasion, my friend had to literally yell out SHHHHHH after an hour went by and none of the staff asked the children laughing and conversing to keep it down. Very unorganized. I lost an entire day of studying. It seems to be a tutoring center. If its not one thing, it's another. Other than that, they are very helpful and attentive. They are very up to date with technology. Just don't go there to study. read more

Nice and quiet. They have bright lamps on the desks, perfect for studying. People are quite friendly here. And it's fairly easy to find street parking near the library. read more

Nice place but extremely hard to work here. It's nicer than La Canada, but La Canada is better to work in because it's way quieter. Parking is plentiful at the top and bottom lots, but then again, it gets way crowded. Even the street parking gets packed! If you need to get anything done, the weekends would be a good time. Get your library card to activate your wifi. read more

After the renovation, the facilities have become phenomenal. The structure is open and there is very nice air conditioning. There is also a nice community room on the second floor and you can reserve private rooms for tutoring or group study. The library is very clean and organized and you don't have to worry about seeing homeless people in the library hogging the computers like you do in the inner city LA libraries. There are a lot of chairs for sitting and reading and a separate children's section with their own tables and chairs. HOWEVER the librarians are very loud. I have never been to a library where the people who read and study are quiet and you can hear the librarian from one side of this ginormous building to the other. Parking is also pretty limited depending on what time you get there. You also need to ask to go to the bathroom every single time and the libraries have to open the door by pushing a button from underneath their table. And if you go after school hours (3pm to 8pm, or weekends) then it will be pretty hard to get a cubicle or table. The selection of books are limited too so make sure you check online and have the books you want shipped from the other county libraries before you get here. read more

I love libraries and what they represent. Free knowledge and opportunity for all. It's great to have one so close to various schools for students to use. The hold system and request system works wonderfully. If you can't find it here you have the other libraries in the network to search. As other libraries, they have audiobooks, cds, dvds and a books for purchase at affordable prices .25 cents. Wow! read more

Condescending, impolite librarian and nonsensical policies. I'm a 23-year-old woman whose printer ran out of ink and had to quickly run to this location to print some work-related documents. The librarian not only barred me from borrowing a fellow customer's card (without explanation) but demanded to see identification for a TEMPORARY LIBRARY PASS. Not cigarettes, booze, or any other number of products which carry enormous consequences for distribution to minors. I can't tell you how grating it is to request something so trivial AS AN ADULT WOMAN and be met with a condescendingly drawn-out, "HOW OLD ARE YOU???".That's pathetically unprofessional as well as obnoxious. Besides--you're honestly so intensively questioning/doubting the adulthood of a twenty-something-year-old woman over this nonsense? Yeah, okay. Glad you evaded that thousand dollar fine and loss of licence. Close call. The only reason I even know of this temporary pass is because I came several years ago for similar purposes. Then, the librarian did NOT question my age and offered me this alternative to the more time-intensive permanent card. Which suggests to me that this isn't even library policy Another relatedly perplexing aspect of this encounter is that the woman informs me that she really didn't "need" to see my card but it's just "faster" for her to input the info straight from my card. But the ID which I presented had but my name and date of birth. No address or anything of the sort. So just how difficult is it to hear and type someone's name and DOB? Honestly, I can only conclude that this librarian broke protocol (in a rude fashion)and/or this library itself has some pretty asinine policies. Oh, the evils of borrowing someone else's card and the heavenly virtues of carding an adult woman for a freakin' day pass at a library. read more

La Crescenta Library and Library Staff are about as good as it can get. This is a harried Library Staff in that the library is almost always filled with students of all ages. I've never been in or to the La Crescenta Library when they haven't been busy, under a great deal of pressure, stress. Which they handle amazingly well. I've asked this Staff for personal attention maybe two dozen times over the years. Not once has any Staff been rude, unprofessional, anything but helpful and gracious. It's just a wonderful, uplifting setting, a remarkable building and facility - an incredible Staff. read more

Why the harsh reviews from so many people? Yeah it'd be nice to be able to study here in absolute silence, but it's good to see that a lot of younger students use it too. If some background noise is a little too much, then pop in some headphones to block it out and study. The overall facility is nice as it's been recently redone. Clean and modern for a local library. read more

It's a library for Pete's sake, a library, that's all. Having said that, it's in a nice new building, and clients still get 10 free prints a day. It's a drag that if you need to go to the loo, you have to get one of the staff to buzz you in. That's fine if nobody is ahead of you in the queue, but if they are, you have to keep your legs crossed !!! Wi-Fi is available and free to members. I'm not sure how things work out if you want wi-fi and you're not a member. read more

GREAT LIBRARY, honestly further than my local one but worth it. It can get crowded with kids and students studying, leaving little space to sit, but overall it's a beautiful place. I remember what it was like before the renovation and I cam say it is a 1000% improvement. Staff are generally helpful and friendly. The little bookstore is nice. There is always a good selection of new books. I wish they had a wider variety of magazines and there Is a random beeping noise that comes over the speakers every now and then for no reason, what is that? I've always enjoyed my visits there. I don't go there to suck up their free wifi or take up a room to study in, just to get books. Marta was super in helping me with my i-phone and how to 'manage and hold ' books. The staff are friendly although defer most questions to the main librarian. The bathrooms are clean and tidy and they used be be able to buzz you in to open the door. I notice they do that for the women. For the men they physically walk you to the door telling you the buzzer doesn't work. One rumor was that they'd found graffiti in there. As I'm 70 and not carrying a can of spray paint you'd think they could buzz me in. read more

Thank goodness for libraries. I know families have a variety of uses for local libraries but sometimes it feels like a daycare center. My two star deduction is a result of the copious amounts of kids and noise during after school hours. It's a great reminder about contraception. Was that too heavy, sorry. That is my only complaint. But I was a kid once and I understand that parents can't pick up their students right away. I just wish there was a quiet study section in this library. It would be perfect for me during non-day care hours. The staff is really lovely here and they even put in programs. I think the head librarian really tries her best to get activities in.
