Great little restaurant and store along the Poudre Canyon. We stopped in to the restaurant for lunch and I ordered, the jalapeño poppers as an appetizer. They were nothing special, but good. I than ordered the Chili Rellenos. They were different from any others that I've had. The peppers were stuffed with cheese, but instead of being dipped in a batter, they were wrapped in wonton wraps. They were fried perfect and the refried beans and Mexican rice were seasoned well and delish. The green chili was flavorful and mild in heat.

Corner of restaurant, bar in next room, general store in room behind us.

We were out to explore and stumbled into the restaurant at Glen Echo Resort. We were happy with our experience. It was before Memorial Day and place was almost empty. I asked if this was typical and server said no. She said resort was booked through end of May to most of July/August and many times, the restaurant line waiting to get in is out the door. It is an isolated location, so there aren't really any other restaurant choices. They are attached to a small camp-oriented store with a few basic food items, maps, books, camp-type games and a variety of fun souvenirs. Considering how empty it was, we were surprised how long it took to get our food out, but out server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the food items. They do serve alcohol. I got a flatbread pizza and it was the perfect comfort food for me on a cold, rainy day. It came with a wide choice of toppings, lots of cheese and delicious flavor. It was piping hot and obviously individually made, so maybe that why it took a little longer to get our food. Husband got a hamburger that was very large, 1/3 pound I think, and while good, he said he'd wished he'd gotten my pizza. Decor was nice. This place has been located here for a long time, but restaurant burnt down a few years back, so it is fresh and up-to-date. We hope to go back again off-season!

This stay and restaurant deserves more credit than it's given on this page. The food is on the higher priced side because, it's up the mountain. If you have ever managed anything, you would know how cost works. Same with perfectly fresh food.... If they had to drive down the mountain every morning and open late to have fresher ingredients it would cost more. People need to be more reasonable about mountain service on roads that don't end a ski resorts or big campgrounds. Give them a break. Every time I have eaten here the food is amazing and as expected as well as the service. We have eaten here over the past 3 years and never had bad food or bad service.

Great experience with good food and friendly service. A must stop at if you are driving through Poudre Canyon. I recommend the burger gone wild.It is a combo of various game meats: elk, bison, wild boar, antelope, and I think I'm forgetting one.. but it was so moist and flavorful.

Supreme nachos. Not worth the $12... was bland and boring tasting...

Not sure what its like saying in the hotel but the restaurant is awful. The food is bland and boring tasting. No fresh ingredients. The waitress was okay, nothing above and beyond. My grandma didn't like her soup of the day, they weren't generous about the serving they gave her, she couldn't even eat half the bowl because it didn't taste good. My supreme nachos were bland and boring, didn't like whatever they did with the ground beef and the canned refried beans was really meh. The cheese was hard and not a melty goodness. Can't believe they charge $12 for that crap. My 14 year old cousin got a blt sandwich and said the bacon was really hard. Can't believe whoever was cooking (I think some old man) can't cook as something as simple as bacon... My 9 year old cousin said her burger was just okay. I asked my cousins what I should rate this place, either 1 or 2 star and they said 1 lol obviously they didn't like it. Never eating at this place again, I would rather take up more time trying to find elsewhere to eat and starve longer then eat there again. Didn't stay long enough to check out the gift shop. Was probably over priced anyway.

Part of our party (two adults and four kids) went ahead of us as we had dogs and needed a place where the dogs could be with us. Luckily, The Tavern was accommodating to that and we could sit with them on the patio. Since they got there ahead of us, their experience seemed to go smoothly. The rest of us (four adults, two teens, and a five year old) got our orders in and were warned that the kitchen was backed up and it would be a while for our food. And it was a while, about an hour or so. Aside from the youngest who was desperately hungry for her pizza, we managed fine. The drinks were delicious enough to tide us over: I got their take on an old fashioned, and my friend got a mule after someone in line recommended it to me. She said it was the best mule she has had at a bar in ages. The food was good and very decently priced. I got the caesar salad and a personal pizza and enjoyed both. It was good to not pay exorbitant prices in an area where options for restaurants are limited. It was a perfect day to chill out on the patio, and we also got the pleasure of the feral kittens who came to visit. After the long wait for food, we were anxious to get back to our campsite and settle in for the evening. Everything has to be ordered at the bar, and tabs need to be closed out there as well. This is where the waiting game continued, and where it became very clear they were not prepared for the holiday weekend rush. The woman who had taken our orders at the bar was in the back managing things in the kitchen, and the man at the bar was also busy being a sound tech for the musician that came in. There was another guy standing behind the bar doing absolutely nothing. It seemed he worked there, but only at the direction at the other bartender-sound tech. Which wouldn't have been a big deal if the line weren't taking up the bulk of the space in the small indoor dining area. It took at least half an hour if not longer to be in that line just to close our tab. When we finally departed, between choosing food, placing orders, waiting for food, and then waiting to close tabs, we had been there almost two and a half hours. It is very apparent that this is a well-loved local joint based on the interactions I had, the custom Yeti pints they had for customers, and regulars going behind the bar to pour their own pints. The atmosphere was great, and I love that. As I mentioned, restaurant options are limited, so beggars can't be choosers for our one night where we chose to dine out rather than cook at camp. But knowing how busy holiday weekends are, I was left disappointed but how things were being managed. I'd check this place out again on a calmer night or later in the evening for drinks, but definitely skipping the rush hours.

FIVE STARS goes to the Cherokee Park Ranch / Dude Ranch in Livermore, CO. This is my 500th review…read moreon Yelp, and I dedicate this review to a place that has positively changed my life forever! Cherokee Park Ranch is AMAZING! The ranch has a fascinating history and is known as one of the first guest ranches in Colorado. During the late 1880's it was a colorful stage coach stop between Fort Collins, Colorado and Laramie, Wyoming. Incoming guests had to chance Indian confrontations and the rates were only $8.00 per week! Now Indian hostilities are nonexistent but the Western character of the ranch remains. The park is owned by the Prince family - Dick, Christine, Thomas, Elise, Townsend, and Emily Prince. The property boasts over 10 guest cabins, a swimming pool, about 125 horses, and an AMAZING staff! Typically, guests make week-long reservations for a true vacation on the ranch. They plan a ful schedule for you everyday and offer options for you to choose, ranging from: Horseback riding, Skeet shooting, Nature Walks, Fly Fishing, Painting Lessons, White Water Rafting, Rodeos, Rock Climbing, Country Western Dancing Lessons, Mountain Biking, swimming in the pool, billiards, and much much more. I have to say, that owners Christine and Dickie go above and beyond the call of duty for ensuring that their guests have a fun and safe time while at their ranch. EVERY aspect of hospitality is considered and well executed at this ranch! All 25+ members of their employees work super hard to ensure a great experience at the ranch. We had 50 guests in our group/cohort - ranging from 2 - 80. Here's my highlight of my vacation: Horseback riding: The ranch owns over 125 horses (NO leased horses) and offers half day or all day rides every day. The ranch welcomes ALL ability riders from never-touched-a-horse to born in the saddle. I went horseback riding 6 of the 7 days that I spent at the ranch. Each of the rides were original, and showed off the beautiful landscape of the Colorado waters, meadows, mountains, and scenery. The ranch offers short morning and afternoon rides (2 -3 hours, your choice) or an all-day ride (approximately 6 hours). I opted for the all day rides and was AMAZED with the nice trails that the ranch had chosen for their guests. Guests can choose from walking rides, to trotting (where the horse does a bit of a prance), to Loping (actual gallup). Cherokee Park Ranch is one of the few ranches in Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah that offer Loping riding (because of liability reasons). The wranglers at the ranch gave me lessons, so I went from a walk-only kind of rider to Lopoing the meadows of the Colorado mountains! Extra kudos go to my two favorite wranglers - Jordan (North Carolina) and Olivia (Virginia?) - you both made it a wonderful trip! LOVE IT! Every meal is inclued in the cost of your stay. The ranch hired Chuck from Tennessee to be the head chef this summer. Chuck owned several restaurants in TN and cooked up some amazing meals including: Fall off the bone beef ribs, bacon wrapped fillet mignon, baked salmon, chicken pot pie, & beef pot roast. One of my favorites were the home-made chocolate creme brulee and snickerdoodle cookes (and brownies, Colorado chocolate snaps, lemon bars). Amazing food, amazing wait staff. The food was so good here, I wanted to slap my grandma! Guest Rodeo: At the end of the week, all guests are required to showcase their horse-riding skills by competing in home-ranch rodeo. All 50 guests line up to do barrel racing, pole bending, and keyhole riding (all at your own speed). Both kids and adults participate and cheered on by all members of the staff! The ranch times you and hands out 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons at the end of the week. SUPER FUN! They even include a pie eating contest and a boot run (where everyone contributes one boot to the pile and has to run to put it on and cross the finish line). SUPER FUN! What I especially liked about this ranch was that they warmly welcomed children. This is perhaps the only ranch in Colorado where they have kids programs all day long. There are three staff members assigned to help entertain the children while the adults go off and enjoy the day. Activities include riding "Rodney" who is a 27 year old miniature horse (ages 2-5), arts and crafts (horseshoe painting, bead making, tiedye, etc), sleeping over night in a kid's-only slumber party in a HUGE Teepee, horseback riding (ages 6-12), nature walks, and much more. The ranch setting uniquely has no electronic interruptions - so leave your cell phones and computers at home. You won't need them here! To the owners, Christine and Dickie - you have an AMAZING thing going on here! No wonder 86% of your guests are return customers! You and your staff work hard to not only provide a great vacation, but to also change people's lives. Thank you! Service Grade: A+ Food Grade: A Worth The Money Grade: A+ Overall Impression: A+!

Unfortunately, and to my surprise, I only received 50% of my total back. On the 7th day I had cancelled on Expedia because I booked through there and I also called the office to confirm that I would be getting 100% back. The person that I spoke to was very rude, told me she would call me back then hung up before confirming my phone number. I gave her 30 minutes and called back. She again was very short with me and told me she would call me back. Never did. This happened to be Christmas Eve so I didn't call back again until December, 26th. When I did, I spoke with another woman who was kind and listened and said she would call me back. She did not. In the meantime, I emailed Beaver Meadows own email address as well as messaged them through Expedia and heard nothing back. Today, Monday December 29th I called back and spoke to a woman who said now the reason I am not getting my money back is because I am within the 30 days however, my trip arrival date was January 30, 2026 and I initiated this cancellation on December 24th. She also told me to email Beaver Meadows owners through the info email which I already did, twice. She told me they did not see an email from me so I should do it again so this would be my 3rd time emailing them. Their policies are not clear. It's too bad that this place is so greedy that they can't just give people back the money that is owed to them. There aren't even other hotels around so by the end of January they probably will have it rebooked. The thing is, I would have rebooked at the same hotel potentially because the event (pond hockey tournament) is nearby and may still happen. However, now I won't book with them ever again and I will be sure to tell all my friends going to the pond hockey tournament down the street that they should be hesitant as well. Save yourself an attitude, book in Fort Collins and drive to the pond hockey tournament.

There is plenty of seating on the lawn so you can just relax and enjoy. No children allowed which also boosts the peace and tranquility. The hot tub room seems very new. It too faces the river so you can soak the sore muscles from hiking and still have a great view. I absolutely loved that they offer free s'mores kits in the lobby. Every night, they come out and light the fire pit, and we spent time by the fire each night! It was a nice way to meet other guests and such a treat to have the s'mored. Lodging: we chose the Aspen cabin since it was just the two of us. I loved everything about it, other then the number of stairs to and from the main ranch: the decor, very comfy bed (although we were pretty tired after all of our daily activities!), having my very own fireplace, and the view! Food: Waaay above my expectations. Honestly, I was blown away with the cuisine - both the taste and the amount of choices per meal. Chef Cory was very personable and came to the table daily asking for feedback. He also had an awesome mustache face mask to respect social distancing while he was walking table to table. Horses: I mean why else do you think I chose this place?!? Amy and Tammy choose a horse for you based on your skill and comfort level with horses and if you are happy with your horse, you get to keep that horse all week. The herd is over 200 horses so there is definitely one to fit your experience level. My horse was Gypsy and she was a dream! She was super responsive and loved to lope the trails. People: Wranglers: they get in early and jingle the horses to the barn every morning around 6:15...definitely worth getting up to see! They are all very experienced riders and not only guide you on your trail rides, but will help hone your skills and answer questions about horses, the property, etc along the way. Everyone was awesome, but a special shout out to Abby and Halsey for taking us on an all day ride, and fixing my saddle bag for me when it fell off. Walker, Maggie, and Haylei were awesome and made every trail a blast. I feel like I am a way better rider now because of all of them. Servers: The servers are all very nice and ensure you are enjoying every meal. This year, due to COVID, we ate meals outside by the pool, and the servers did a great job of getting food out to you quickly and making sure you had everything you need. Grace was such a sweetheart and we saw her at almost every meal. Thanks for being the best wine pourer we could have asked for. Ranch hands: there are quite a few ranch hands on the property doing all of the odds and ends jobs, including guiding activities. Cooper was very helpful in coaching us through archery, BB guns, skeet shooting, and he managed to not laugh at our epic failure throwing hatchets. They also do a night of branding so bring your leather belts and boots for them to put a C Lazy U brand on. Management: great management team here. Dave, the GM, walked around during meals asking for feedback. Paul and Scott, two of the assistant GM's, made cowboy coffee over a campfire in the mornings and went above and beyond to make sure you were having fun. Paul also MC'ed the Shodeo, which was an absolute blast. Activities: The river that runs through the property and the pond by the main building were both great for fishing. The spa was excellent and the tent I was in had a glass floor to look down and see the river during the massage. Kids - although we don't have kids, the ability to have a group of trusted counselors take care of the little ones while the adults had fun was very impressive! All in all, highly recommend this ranch to anyone ready to have a good time. The ranch was beautiful and the people were friendly. We will definitely be coming back!
