tl;dr - Avoid this company at all costs unless you want to risk having your home damaged for work…read morethat could charitably be considered low quality. "More like the Home Destroyer" is what another contractor stated once they saw the work that was done in our home by The Basement Transformer also know as The Home Transformer. I will admit that they are very slick salesmen, able to sell you on promises of all the great work they will do to completely transform your space, and they seem to be the exclusive distributors of several products that are waterproof for finishing areas of a home that may get wet. In fact, we spoke to John after we suffered a devastating flood that destroyed the ground floor of our home, and requires extensive work to make it usable again. They came in and assessed the issues and presented some solutions. As we weren't quite sure what our final plans would be, we figured we would stat with getting a cement floor poured. First up was the demolition work, which took much longer than was expected, largely due to scheduling issues they were having because they "had so much work" and were short staffed. The people who had been doing the work even ended up quitting the company even though we had been told they had been working with them for years. They did a lot of unnecessary demolition such as taking down the upper cabinets from our former kitchen, which suffered no damage, likely to justify charging us nearly $10k for a job that other contractors told us they would have been able to do for a quarter of the price. Then came the floor, which was so poorly poured that I'd have been better off doing the work myself. The floor poured is so uneven that I can't put down a 4' level anywhere on the floor where I don't get a big gap under it. Beyond that it seems they didn't even screed several sections, and they left behind swirl marks in sections where they did screed. While that would be bad enough, they later tried to "fix" the poor work they did by grinding the swirls out. However, when doing that work, they failed to isolate the work area, and we ended up getting a massive cloud of silica dust that was so thick it set of smoke detectors two floors up from where they were working. All of our belongings were covered in silica dust that we're still dealing a year and a half after the fact, creating a situation that might have played a role in a really bad cough I developed. What really set these guys apart was just how rude and nasty they got when we were trying to come to a resolution with them for the damage they did to our home and it's belongings, claiming that the issues were our fault because "we had too much stuff" or implying that we were having money troubles. The solutions they did offer were entirely inadequate at addressing the issues they created, and they stopped communicating with us once we told them how much it would cost for them to properly clean up the mess they created. Orange County doesn't have licensing for contractors which is probably the only reason they are able to continue to do business. If you're thinking of doing business with this company, ask yourself if the risk of damage is worth it.

Overall terrible experience - from trying to get an itemized bill for insurance (3 versions, still not itemized. Gave up asking.) They demo'd walls and all window treatments (we did not ask for and I cried), dumped a full truckload of gravel in our driveway - a year later - we still don't have access to our full driveway (after moving half of what was left behind!). Not one spot of the 700sq feet floor is level. There are ripples big enough to trip over, so they decided to SAND DOWN the CEMENT ripples, but FAILED TO PUT UP ANY BARRIERS - NO PLASTIC. SILICA COATED THREE (3) floors of our living area. I had them stop work when our smoke detectors started going off on the 3rd floor. I was outside clueless. My partner called me because his phone was going off saying there was a smoke condition. I walked inside to a ball of dust. I called John from outside immediately... because no one but 2 workers were here and there was a language barrier. "Some dust is to be expected." I replied quite confused and upset at his lack of understanding...as we had b waiting 4 months for the sanding. It was a big day for us. A useable floor. I replied to John with a bit more urgency and pictures. Many pictures... "This isn't some". John said it was safe to enter. And knowing better I said, "No. You don't understand, you need to get over here immediately." I called my partner, told him John said it was safe to enter? My partner and his coworkers in construction said to vacate, get the pets, computers, etc... because it's toxic. I sat in the car with 3 pets, took a business meeting in the car, and then demanded they clean and put us in a hotel. Reluctantly, they did. Still continuing to refused to give us their insurance information... They hired local cleaners to spot clean, but refused a deep clean. Cleaners didn't even mop floors. 8 hours isn't enough time to clean a toxic silica mess. $20k concrete floor Unfinished and not functional Partner needed a nebulizer (thank God, no kids here) Work Started 1 year 7 months ago Work Stopped Multiple Times - excuses always they same -people quit/fired, -out of state meetings, -multiple excuse (at least four (4) times) of 'too busy with other clients' *while they had our money* They stopped working completely after silica dust fiasco with no remed, leaving us without a usable floor, spending an additional $1,500 in air quality testing, health hazard, pollution inside, and now a fully wrecked 3 floor house, everything we saved from the flood instead was made exponentially worse.

I felt the need to write this review, although technically Greg and I have never done business. In…read morethe recent round of rain storms, my sump pump stopped working as it is supposed to, and I ended up with about 5 inches of groundwater in the basement. I was able to get the sump pump working again, but 3 days after it stopped raining, I was still getting a lot of water in the pit. I found a sticker for Contractors Waterfproofing, and figured they might of installed the system for the old owners, so I gave them a call. From the moment he picked up Greg was service oriented and responsive. He asked for my address to look up the job, and when he couldn't find it, he called back within 5 minutes to ask what was going on. I explained the problem, and he immediately told me that was normal for my part of town, and told me I just needed to replace the pump and I would be fine. He offered me a price that was half what his competitors charge, but I told him I would do the work myself since I am capable. He then answered a ton of questions about the install, and we had a great conversation about life and how my son could maximize his potential long-term, as he is currently a plumbers apprentice. The bottom line is that the system Greg installed 20 years ago is still working perfectly, and when the pump failed, he not only gave me a fair price, but then walked me through how to do the job myself. This is unheard of in 2025. Greg will get all my business going forward. Thank you.

The house was not designed to have a basement and the basement was made after the house was built. It was located at the lowest point of the neighborhood so that the yard is over 4 feet below the street grade. I asked many contractors and nobody could give a warranty on their potentially trial-and-error treatment until I found Gregg. Gregg and his crew know what they are doing. They offer a warranty. They saved our house from the nightmare of the basement flood. In recent big storms our house has been dry and neat. Thank you very much Gregg! Happy Fourth of July!

This contractor gets one star because there is no way to give zero or less. Three words sums it…read moreall up, "substandard shoddy workmanship". Owner, Zack Khan, walked off the job and placed a mechanics lien on our home after we refused to pay $14,500 more when the job was supposed to have been completed. Zack had already hit us with demands for more money and change orders, which we paid because we believed that in the end we would have our home back more beautiful than before disaster had hit it. Zach had originally told us that God had been good to him, and he was going to pass that goodness on to us by even doing some things for free. He told us he felt bad for all that we had been through and that he would do a great job and we would be very happy with his work. Instead, he threatened us with foreclosure and now it has taken us more than a year to fix his shoddy work and we are still not done. If we could give his company zero stars even that would be too good. There were so many things wrong with Zack's workmanship starting with the kitchen cabinets that don't even match. We have four different style faces on the cabinets and drawers in our kitchen. In addition, he cut window frames and door frames in order to make the counters fit. The short fat refrigerator he ordered also did not fit and we had to order a special size refrigerator costing a couple thousand dollars. What was supposed to be a custom kitchen looks like something out of a big box store with cabinets that are crooked, soft close hardware that doesn't work, and there were no handles on the drawers or cabinets. Nothing was measured properly. We even had to demo a doorway because his measurements were off and the laundry machines would not fit through the door. The laundry closet also was not measured properly and the doors will not close with the machines inside so the framing and doors all have to be redone. The bathroom is also a disaster, with the light fixture hung upside down and not centered over the mirror, and the cabinet under the sink that was supposed to be freestanding, broken and nailed to the wall with horrible, dirty caulk, all around it. The medicine cabinet, which is round, was put in a square hole and framed out that way. The hardwood floors throughout the house are not hardwood at all, but fabricated wood from Lumber Liquidators that is already scratched up and chipping and his workers literally nailed the wood down with the nails showing along the edges. He built a massive bedroom closet that takes up a quarter of our very small bedroom and none of the bedroom closets do not even have hanging poles or shelves. The bedroom door does not even line up with the frame so the door cannot close and there is a hole in the door. None of the door handles were even installed. Most electrical (which he was never contractor to do any electrical) had to be redone by a licensed electrician in order for us to get our certificate of occupancy. In the meantime, the list goes on and on. There were areas of the contract that were never even completed despite the fact that Zack was paid in full, such as the window in the basement that was supposed to be built, but is still boarded up, and the attic stairs and door that were never done at all. We we do not want to see anyone else go through what we have gone through with this contractor and that is the only reason that we are writing this review. It has taken us well over a year to address these problems. This was the absolute worst experience we ever had with a contractor. Even worse than the guy who almost burned our home down prior to needing this rebuild. Zack completely took advantage of us during a time in which we were desperate. He talked a great talk and put on a great show. No surprise there, it turns out his New York license is actually as a home improvement sales person license. We are in the process of filing additional complaints against this contractor. Don't make the same mistake that we did; Don't be conned by Zack Khan.
