I just usually bring things back to my apt so that I can multitask and do other things while I eat. :) The food here is pretty flavorful and yummy if you like Asian vegetarian food. It's pretty small and tiny as it is being run by Asian folks more on the older side... But nevertheless, you can get tons of goodies here ranging from dim sum (both sweet and savory), soy milk, soup, lunch boxes ($25 - what an awesome price!), noodles, rice, etc. I always get their lunch boxes for $26 (add an extra dollar if you want noodles or rice noodles instead of rice). The selection changes on a weekly basis and with $25, you get your rice, side, and soup or soy milk. I always pick soup since I like their soup more than their soy milk. We came here for a late night dinner as we had the Thai food craving. The first one we wanted to go to closed early at 8pm, so we walked a couple of blocks to arrive to this little gem. If you've always been how I used to be at Thai restaurants, ordering the safe dishes like green curry, Panang curry and the rest of the curries, Pad Thai, drunken noodles, chicken satay, then maybe you'd wanna try some other Thai stuff here, because this place is really authentic and the chef cooks good food. I highly recommend their cold appetizers such as the spicy papaya salad with salted crab and the minced pork salad. The dishes don't taste simple as they sound because of all the special Thai herbs and spices they use. As a person who has never attempted cooking Thai dishes before, how they cook always baffles me. The one hot dish I absolutely devoured was the stir-fried morning glory Thai style! It tastes like what a lot of HK locals would refer to 夠穫氣 which literally means "enough wok essence" Yeah it sounds so dumb... What it means is there is enough fire, heat and power to make a good stir-fry! The curries there were just okay, but definitely decent enough to fulfill your curry cravings. To wrap the meal up, how can we forget the mango sticky rice! I made my own mango sticky rice before, so I know what's good and not, and this place got it right! The rice was chewy and soft, and the coconut sauce had the right consistency and flavor. The mango would not be in season in the winter so it might taste a bit sour, but it wouldn't be their fault, so if you want a perfect mango sticky rice, order during the summer. When it comes to food, you're rest assured you can get authentic Thai food here. We pre-ordered 2 plates of raw shrimp in advance and they were very fresh! We also ordered some beef and chicken satay skewers, shrimp cakes and fish cakes as appetizers. Oh my lord... the fish cakes were the best I've ever tried! Chewy yet not fishy! For the main course, we had pork knuckles, grilled fish with lemon sauce (served on the grill), curry with deep fried chicken and the stir-fried clams in chili paste. The restaurant is hidden back in the corner of a maze like area known as Landmark near the Central MTR station. Once we reached the Landmark, we just stopped at an information desk to receive final directions. We arrived early for our reservation which originally was made for seats at the bar but at this earlier time they had a table free for us. The bar sitting is not like typical high top seating but rather a long table attached to a wall at normal table height. You and your guests will just be sitting beside one another rather than across a table and perhaps sitting next to a stranger. The staff there were super friendly and spoke very good English which helped us tremendously. After a warm welcome, we were quickly shown to our table and offered water to start. We saw all our favorite Thai dishes on the menu just like back home in the States. We started with fried spring rolls and a couple Tsingtao beers to take the edge off a long day of walking around Hong Kong. The spring rolls were on the skinny side but with seven of them on the plate and a lovely chili dipping sauce on the side they hit the spot. Served with the rolls were some fresh vegetables that we can never seem to get enough of when traveling far from home. For our next course, we went with Tom Yum soup another favorite of ours. I was a little hesitant at first to order it as it was priced at $20 USD which seemed high to me for a bowl of soup but it turns out to be a big bowl that is easily shared between two. It is served on a stand with a candle below to keep it warm and two smaller bowls with a ladle to serve it up. Our server poured our first bowls and ensured we each got one of the two huge shrimp (head and eyeballs included) along with plenty of our goodies. The soup was wonderful with a multitude of flavors. Easily the best Tom Yum we have ever experienced. It was quite spicy more so then we are used to having but still very enjoyable. For our last course, we selected Pad See Ew with pork and were pleasantly surprised to find more pork than noodles in the dish. This dish also can be shared for two if desired. Everything tasted very fresh with a wonderful sauce and at the perfect temperature. We passed on any dessert at this point but not for lack of options but rather room to put it.
