I'm not one to post negative reviews, but after weeks of beyond disappointing, unprofessional service, don't want anyone else to have to experience what we have. We chose Glass by Lund after speaking with several window companies. Our job was fairly standard, nothing special outside of a larger-sized picture window. Glass by Lund offered us a very competitive price, along with their being in business for 50+ years. The owner came out to measure, seemed like a competent, straight-forward guy. The office staff was very helpful. Knowing they were a small family run business, we were willing to wait a little bit longer to have our windows installed than the timeframe provided by the other larger companies we talked to. We put 50% down in January with an install date of March. We thought we were in good hands. All was well until their crew showed up to install. The two installers sent by Glass by Lund immediately informed us that they didn't have our large picture window, that the owner makes a lot of mistakes in ordering and measuring and they weren't sure when it was going to arrive. Wow. That would have been nice to know before the installers arrived. After they were into the job about 40 minutes, one of the installers informed us that the window we were hoping could be installed first also didn't get ordered by the owner and wasn't on their truck to install. That also would have been good to know before the installers arrived. Things just proceeded to get worse from there. The employees bashed the owner of the company, saying he was getting old, screwing up on a lot of jobs and they had been losing business because of it and what we were experiencing wasn't out of the ordinary. Are you serious? Employees dishing dirt on the owner to a customer that is already wondering what the heck is going on and if we made a super bad decision. We go out to check on how they're doing and see that one of the installers had way overshot cutting out the siding on our house to place wood trim - like by 3 inches - and there is a HUGE gap in our siding they weren't going to tell us about. The icing on the already disastrous cake was when we went to see the first newly installed window and found the glass cracked from one side of the pane to the other. Apparently, they knew the window was broken before installing it and placed it anyway because that's the policy of the owner. And this was just the first 1 1/2 hours of them being on-site. We were astounded they would knowingly install a broken window without informing us up front and providing options prior. We called the office and talked with the owner's wife. She said emphatically that this is not how they do business and would have her husband call us immediately. He did call and downplayed everything. He said it was no big deal, happens all the time and not to worry about a thing. Right. It was at that moment we realized we had made a MAJOR mistake in hiring Glass by Lund. There would be no accountability for anything. The shoddy workmanship was left inside and outside our house, they gouged the ceiling and walls in several areas inside our house requiring spackle and repaint, in addition to replacing the siding they overcut. Although the owner promised he'd make things right, two weeks later, when they were scheduled to come back to install the missing window and replacement glass, we get a message from the owner saying somehow the replacement glass for the broken window wasn't the right size, and it won't be installed as scheduled. Clearly, quality control, attention to detail and customer service are non-existent with this company. After having to take multiple days off work to troubleshoot their mess, our experience as a customer of Glass by Lund has been nothing more than a comedy of errors, and we are very unsatisfied. read more
