OMG what a restaurant. One of the best meals i have ever had without a doubt. I am currently trying to pursuade my boss to have to this years xmas party on the glass boat. Not going very well so far but I'm going to keep pushing for it

The food was decent but nothing fantastic. Would recommend the scallops as appetisers though! The wine was so-so, overprice for the quality. The dessert menu was disappointing ):

The Glass Boat is a great place to go for a special occasion, romantic meal or simply just as a treat. Being moored by the harbour side it has great scenic views of the water and Bristol bridge and is certainly one of Bristol's highlights. The boat in question isn't particularly large so getting a table during the lunch hour or on a weekend can be difficult at times, but you won't be disappointed if you do. The interior is bright with plenty of light (being a glass boat, you'd expect it to be I guess). The food is wonderful and the staff are very friendly. It is certainly on the expensive side, but in my opinion worth every penny. I highly recommend going there for breakfast as I had one of the nicest Egg Benedict's I've ever eaten in there a few months ago.

I always passed the Glass Boat thinking how romantic it looked. When I saw they were doing a special lunchtime offer via top table, I jumped at the chance to come here and brought my other half here for a romantic lunch. It was just delightful. It was pretty quiet the afternoon I was here and the service was quick and the food was delicious. It is definitely the atmosphere that makes the Glass Boat so special though. Definitely would love to go back to the Glass Boat, I'd love to come back here all glammed up for an evening meal and a romantic rendezvous.

The food is always top-notch and the waiting staff know they're stuff. The set-price menu is always good value and offers a more limited choice which should suit most tastes. The service is quick, friendly and welcoming putting you at ease from the moment you walk in the door. The selection of local ales is top notch and the wine menu offers something for everyone. The restaurant is on the top floor and has really nice views of the river (and all of the activities that go along with that) and is a perfect backdrop as the sun sets over Bristol. Once the sun has gone down the ambiance and atmosphere here really shines and the (usually full) tables provide a charming and warm hum with everyone chatting, laughing and having a good time. I really cannot recommend this place enough, especially if you're looking for something a little more special than the ordinary.

We chose from the set evening menu in the upstairs restaurant, at £18 for 2 courses and £21.50 for three. They will swop vegetarian items for the meat or fish set items on request. The menu is modern European, and features items such as ham hock and roast rabbit, all decorously served. Puddings include items such as lavender panna cotta - simply to die for. Service was excellent and the general consensus was that we would happily come back here: most of us had two courses, which, with house wine (a bottle between two on average), water and service came to £28 a head.

Our dinner itself was brilliant, yet not overly expensive, and my starters consisting of sliced duck meat was exquisite, very tasty. I succombed to a "moules-frites" main course, and while the mussels were well cooked and tasty, I have to say that the chips were not truly the french fries you'd get in Brussels, the mussel haven... Anyway, the home-made mayo and tartare sauces were great, and aside from the surprise of seeing my colleague getting served her ordered of a bread platter (I'd never seen that, ever before), the night was a great one. Today I finished my other colleague's spaghetti, which we took away at the end, and they reminded me "Go back to Bristol !"

Downstairs is a cafe/bar and delicatessen and up stairs is the restaurant. I've never actually eaten in the main restaurant as the food served in cafe is of a very high standard and there is always a great selection that changes frequently. The Deli also sells a lovely selection of fresh bread, cheese, cakes and other great food. It's a great place to buy gifts or create a food hamper. Today I went for a tart with celeriac remoulade. I can't remember what the tart was called but it was delicious. My mum had the fish and chips and which is a Bordeaux quay fav for her and it didn't disappoint!

We had the Eldorado Chicken (which quickly prompted a conversation about the 90s tv programme, and a lost city of gold??!!) and Chicken Schnitzel and we were both really impressed... Mine was the Eldorado and it was lovely, if you like your Mexican flavours. I do sway towards chicken on most menus and usually it's a choice between Hunters Chicken and Piri Piri Chicken, but this place has a much better selection.. I was torn between a few! The presentation was really nice, and not too much food, which I like.... But you may have room for pudding if you have a bigger appetite! The prices are fairly reasonable.. £13.50 for each main and £6 for olives. Wine always shocks me as it costs more for a glass than I'd pay for a bottle in the shops, but that's standard! £6.95 a large glass. I'd definitely go back... I guess the 'wow' factor of five stars was missing but I'd definitely recommend this place if you're in Cabot Circus.

Corn Street's current incarnation as home to Bristol's lager louts and hen nights means that these buildings have turned into bar, pubs and restuarants of varying quality. 31 Corn Street is one of these. The When you come in your eyes are drawn to the exceedingly high ceiling, which is still looks beautifully adorned despite the weird blue lighting they have. The restaurant has decorated with a bit of an eye to the place with lots of leather sofas and a smart, long bar. I was drawn to the place by the £5 for a main course offer. This is a fantastic deal if you can find it; they could easily get away charging twice that for the quality of the food on offer. The steak in particular is a bargain for five pounds. A couple of things really let this place down. Firstly, the music is fa too loud. When you in you feel a bit like you're being hit in the face with it. Easily solved, but I'm not sure I'll go back until they do sort this out. Second, when I went there they had an appalling comedy night on. Three guys went on, not raising more than half a dozen laughs out the place all night long. Last, it's a bit empty. This isn't always a problem for me in clubs, but the grandness and size of the place means it doesn't feel right being empty. A few glaring faults, but the potential to be a decent restaurant.

After visiting the bar (very cheaply if I must say), our group sat upstairs, around twelve in total overlooking the rest of the restaurant. The menu was quite diverse, but nothing seemed to be particularly mouth watering by the sound of it. The night was enjoyable for the people I was with, rather than the food I was eating, but it was very cheaply priced.
