I ordered a pulled pork bap, which came served with summer slaw, french fries, salad and a home made ketchup. The fries were actually potato, with the skins on the edges and extremely delicious, none of this fry from the bag nonsense - or at least if they were they didn't taste like it. And the pulled pork, although it could have done with a little more flavour, was tasty. All in all a great lunch, and reasonably priced too.

We chose from the set evening menu in the upstairs restaurant, at £18 for 2 courses and £21.50 for three. They will swop vegetarian items for the meat or fish set items on request. The menu is modern European, and features items such as ham hock and roast rabbit, all decorously served. Puddings include items such as lavender panna cotta - simply to die for. Service was excellent and the general consensus was that we would happily come back here: most of us had two courses, which, with house wine (a bottle between two on average), water and service came to £28 a head.

The restaurant has decorated with a bit of an eye to the place with lots of leather sofas and a smart, long bar. I was drawn to the place by the £5 for a main course offer. This is a fantastic deal if you can find it; they could easily get away charging twice that for the quality of the food on offer. The steak in particular is a bargain for five pounds. A couple of things really let this place down. Firstly, the music is fa too loud. When you in you feel a bit like you're being hit in the face with it. Easily solved, but I'm not sure I'll go back until they do sort this out. Second, when I went there they had an appalling comedy night on. Three guys went on, not raising more than half a dozen laughs out the place all night long. Last, it's a bit empty. This isn't always a problem for me in clubs, but the grandness and size of the place means it doesn't feel right being empty. A few glaring faults, but the potential to be a decent restaurant.
