Although the job was small relatively speaking Steve treated it like a major overall. Steve has a good eye for design. He made some minor changes in our layout that makes our kitchen more functional. Utilized all the space wonderfully. Glen the contractor was very meticulous. When my wife ask for some trim work to be corrected he did it with a smile. He worked at our house for 12 straight days to complete the job. Wish I had the money to keep him on retainer. Very good and has a very pleasant disposition. Unlike many in the field he goes by the mantra the customer is always right. Overall very good job from start to finish. Some minor issues along the way but was taken care of. Job drug out a little longer than expected. Would certainly use Kitchen Sales when I do my bathroom.

Contacted Big Bear Construction via Yelp Projects December last year. I got a response within a few…read morehours. I spoke with Lance and he scheduled a site visit to inspect my parents house in Knoxville. After site visit, I received a cost estimate for repairing water damage to main bathroom floor and replacing old toilet. We discussed further details and proceeded with ordering the flooring, toilet, and bedit seat. During demolition, his crew noticed subfloor was also damaged (see pics). I was notified right away, they had to purchase subfloor and a change order was submitted. Work was completed within 2 days and my parents were very happy with the finished work. All billing was done electronically, and receipts were autogenerated. We have a few more mini projects in the house and will contact Lance again. 5 starts for Big Bear Construction! I highly recommend for all your restoration needs.

Lance and his crew just finished a kitchen addition and remodel project for us, and I cannot say…read moreenough about his integrity, commitment to quality, communication, fair pricing, and flexibility. First of all, Lance stepped in when our original contractor had a medical emergency and could no longer complete the project. Lance was doing the footer work on our project and agreed to pick up where our contractor left off (with the same budget and timeline), and without much time to get to know each other and talk through our plans, I think we all crossed our fingers and hoped it would work out. It did. Beautifully. Lance navigated with ease and grace numerous city permits and inspections and so many supplier issues and architect flubs, including an incorrect measurement that ultimately required us to add a partial bathroom renovation to his contract. He personally checked on every aspect of our project, correcting work when it didn't meet his high standards and making sure his workers and subcontractors met deadlines and his expectations for workmanship. Every time I brought him an idea along the way, Lance was up for it and helped me figure out how we could make it work (much to my husband's chagrin at times!). When we called, Lance always answered, and he stayed in communication with us when we weren't on site, sending texts and pictures of progress daily throughout the almost 5 months of our project. After a few months, I trusted Lance to make decisions in my stead, and that says a lot, considering my Type A personality and specific design sense. He respects old houses and understood my aesthetic vision as well as my desire to preserve original elements of my 1940 cottage wherever possible. The end result speaks for itself. We consider Lance a friend now, but I think my hound dog Sadie misses her friend Lance and his crew most of all. Luckily for her, we have already called him about our next project.

LEGALLY, unless it is in their contract, they can take a simple one wall project like mine and turn it into a year long project leaving your household in a mess until it is complete so be careful and have a time limit! They had a tendency to forget about my project often. They didn't forget when it was time to get paid. If only they were that eager through-out the whole project.

Contractor here…read more Very disappointed with the customer service. I stopped by to pick out countertops and explained upfront that I was in a hurry. I was assured that wouldn't be a problem and was told a quote would be sent over so I could move forward with a deposit. Unfortunately, that never happened. Over the next two weeks I called seven different times and was never able to get a response, return call, or quote. Communication was essentially nonexistent. I ended up going to another countertop company yesterday. Their technician came out the same day, provided a quote on site, and I was able to write a check and move forward immediately. The process doesn't have to be complicated. Prompt communication and follow-through go a long way.

I guess to make their stone fit. to date haven't paid for the repairs I had to go back and fix because of them. which was quite a bit. A stone company should not cut off any part of a shower. If they needed to adjust any part of the shower curb they should have gone through the proper channels and we could have avoided any of the destruction caused by having to remove the glass, stone, and broken tiles caused by the removal process. No good! Don't even want to write this but I didn't cause the damage.

I visited Great Backyard Knoxville and Jonathan in the service dept took the time to break down a pump to show me where my potential problem was. I returned home, FaceTimed with him for an EXTENDED period of time twice while trying to trouble shoot. He didn't give up on me or my hot tub. Customer service is not dead!! he was so knowledgeable and patient. He turned a frustrating situation on the edge of my DIY comfort zone into a rewarding experience. I was amazed at his ability to diagnose problems without physically laying hands on the pieces and parts. Always gotten great service until this store. Checking out and two items rang up $40-60 more than advertised price. Our cashier Nancy was wonderful and called for help. I went back to double check that we hadn't read the sign wrong. Unfortunately Tracy approached me and told me the sign was wrong and pulled it down. I explained that I expected the advertised price. She stormed off after giving me a dirty look and went to register and approved the change. No thank you or sorry just a dirty glare. I ended up getting charged twice for an item and had to go back to the store a few minutes later. Jon took care of it and was friendly. A few days later we had a return and an online purchase. My partner went in and sadly got Tracy again. She wasn't going to give her the online order because there was one letter spelled wrong on the name. Foster was spelled Fostee (my fault). Once again unhappy and rude. I know retail is hard and people generally stink. But if you can't be pleasant maybe consider something different or work behind the scenes.
