Got powder gel as I always do at my other salon but tried a local place and it chipped after 2 days... mine usually last about 2-3 weeks before 1 nail chips. By the 4th day 5 nails were completely off and I wasted 40$ because I could have gotten a regular manicure with how my nails were chipping read more

i just went to glamour.1 in newburgh. at first judy was great then as it got busier she rushed through my anc mani dippind one hand less than the other resulting in one being darker . none of them are straight or the same length. i felt rushed like she didnt care about the job she did. I agree with the post about inconsistency. Some visits, well done pedicure and massage. But today, and two other times too, I got a less than satisfactory pedicure. Almost no leg rubs/massage. Woman seemed as if she could care less. And then her back massage was 2 minutes of pinching. Not sure about going back. read more

Do not spend any money here, it just is not worth it. This was my first time trying out Glamour 1 because I live almost three minutes from its location. I walk in and received immediate attention (good!), I told them I wanted a gel manicure and the lady instructed me to start looking at the rings. As I started looking at the rings full of polished nails, the same lady shoo'd me to the next available person (ehh, okay that is fine, I like to be seen places immediately, so I go). I sit down and she asks me for my hand. I let her know that I have not finished picking out my color. She gives me maybe 5 seconds before she starts nudging for my hand again. I was not extremely annoyed, but cognizant that this lady was a rusher. So she is cleaning my right hand as I was looking through colors with my left. I picked a very nude color because of the wedding. I told her the color, she nodded, and we continued with her cleaning my nails. So at this point she has cleaned both of my hands, buffered my fingernails, clipped and filed them down, and pushed the cuticle back, etc (She didn't do the greatest job, but it was fine). Instead of asking me to wash my hands off, as I have been told to do before, she goes right into the painting. She paints my nails very quickly with the clear, tells me to put them under the light while she paints the other nail. After less than 15 seconds, I am taking my first hand out from under the light for her to do a first coat of nude. This went on for all my coats! Most people who get Gel on the regular know that your fingers need to be under that light MORE than 10 seconds at a time. She was about to start her top coat when I looked at my fingernails, the nude was so streaky! I could see right to my fingernail and could see every unthoughtful stroke. I told her I wanted three coats, she looked at me annoyed and asked "three?"...I said yes strongly, so she proceeded with three (Thank goodness because a couple of days later even three seemed too light and I had gotten nude before without this being a problem). I was finished with my full manicure in 15 minutes. Some people think thats a good thing, I felt that I was rushed, I did not enjoy the experience, and I felt the work was poor. It was three days before my gel started to chip, which I predicted would happen. Unfortunately I could not go back and complain to have them redone because I was in the wedding that weekend. Needless to say, if you want a quick manicure that will chip in a few days, go here. If you want someone to take their time and act as if they care you are spending your hard earned money, go somewhere else. I gave them two stars only because the place seemed clean. Had I seen one ounce of dirt or dust, they would have gotten a 1 for service. read more

This salon was a great find! I was in town for my wedding and made an appointment last minute with my mom and sisters- we were very impressed! There were plenty of nail technicians so all of us could get pedicures at once, and they have massage chairs you sit in! Very relaxing , and all the technicians were very nice and attentive. We had a great time. The only thing we think could have improved is the shaping of our nails for the manicures, but other than that, my French gel has lasted two weeks and nails are still in good condition! read more

The reason for the low stars is INCONSISTENCY. First time, OK. 2nd time, had to leave due to crowd in there that wasn't managed properly. 3rd time, decent. 4th and LAST visit....had a shellac manicure & I don't think he had much experience. I did NOT get the usual treatment of cuticles pushed back or anything detailed. The result was that the polish was on very thick & irregular. The icing on the cake was the know-it-all younger girl that did my eyebrow wax. She spoke very good English & I specifically asked to have them just cleaned, NOT thinned. She proceeded to move very quickly & bragging about her experience. When I looked in the mirror, I was shocked! Hardly any eyebrows. I stewed about it walking to the car & then when I really saw what was done in the rear view mirror of my car, I flipped out. Marched back in & complained to manager about what had happened & she just smiled at me. I asked for my money back, which she gave, but no apology. With all the new techs in there lately, I have to question their degree of training as well as the lack of cleaning the sinks in between pedicures. Oh, and my big toenails were not cut straight, the polish uneven, and a spot missed. Done with this place. read more

They refused to do what I wanted with my nails and toes. I wanted my toe nails cut a little shorter and he said no long would look better and I said I didn't care and he still wouldn't. On my nails I wanted them square and he told me round looked better and I said I don't care I want square and he refused and made them round. I wanted the flower on my toe to match the flower on my nail and he said no and did a different one. Not ever coming here again. read more

After numerous horrible experiences at other walk in nail salons from Newburgh to Poughkeepsie, I have to say, Glamour nails is the best I have found for pedicures. I think the rates are very reasonable ($22.00 for the regular pedicure, which includes the leg scrub and massage), those I have dealt with have been polite and accommodated my specific requests (and they don't rush thru everything or talk to the other tech next to them while they are working) and (usually) there is no wait. The only time I had any wait at all was when I walked in with no appointment 2 days before Christmas (they were packed). I always watch what is being done to make sure I like the nail shape and the way they are applying the polish so I haven't had any complaints because I make sure it is done the way I want. I usually get 3 - 4 weeks out of each pedicure - I would recommend them - I've never had a problem. read more
