There are different prices in regards to which stylist you want (based on their experience). I've gone to Salon de Elephant numerous times and have gotten cuts from Kei, Michael and recently Maria. Each time I've gone all stylists have been professional and friendly. I tend to go for the same hairstyle and each stylist was able to cut my hair to my liking. The hair wash and massage is always a treat - definitely a great head massage as you lie back and relax. Overall, great salon if you're looking for something around the Willowdale area! Although I felt they did a fairly good job, they ended up charging me and extra $47 for "overtime". My appointment went 20 minutes longer and they charged me for 30 minutes more. When I wrote to complain about this, they suggested the issue was that I hadn't sent a picture of my hair (which is super short) in prior to going. The main reason my appointment went over was because I was asking about colouring my hair - how they would do it and prices, because was considering on coming back to do that. My complaint regards the business owner herself and the business practices she has…read morechosen to implement. - I was in her salon for about 10 minutes - maybe 15 - I chose the salon because it specializes in curly hair - I am a person with a learning disability - i am dyslexic - I arrived with clean hair expecting to get a hair cut to make my curls pop - my hair is about 3 inches long so quite short - The owner herself treated me with disregard and disrespect - her junior stylist did not - When the junior stylist was asking what i wanted done it was made clear to me that the texturizing i need for my hair would not be provided - there was no point continuing if there would be no texturizing because i have quite thick hair and it lays flat if not texturized - I stood and asked for a refund - the junior stylist said sure - The owner told her 'no - its all on the website' - That set me off - the disrespect shown to me, the disregard for me, my time and my money - i had to park, take the subway, and it also cost 1.5 hours of my day - I left the salon - quietly - and wrote this original review - When i got home there was an email from them - offering to upsell me on a hair cut that would give me what i want but for close to $300 - The owner responded to this review by calling me rude during my visit - blatantly untrue - The owner has since - in writing - accused me of behaviours that are flatly untrue and has insulted me - This business owner requires that the client knows and understands hair cutting techniques BEFORE getting their hair cut - including the technical terms for cutting approaches - 'it's all on the website' is her refrain - WARNING - if you do not understand the techniques, approaches, technical names of cutting methods - think twice - WARNING - if you don't (or can't) read every word on her website before making your appointment - think twice - WARNING - you will not be given any grace by this business owner for making a mistake - you will not receive your money refunded - WARNING - if you make a mistake you will be treated with disrespect, attacked, blamed - it is the practice of this business owner to blame the client - she accepts no culpability for her own actions and their consequences - I was able to get an excellent hair cut - with texturizing - for less than $100 - my curls pop - I'm very pleased with the cut I received at Maple Hair Salon - I am certain that, when this business owner responds to this review update, her retort will only serve to prove my assertion about her character - she will blame me, the client, for not reading every word of her website - she will say i acted badly - she will prove my point - As a person with a learning disability i am saddened that this business owner has an expectation that the client is responsible for learning the business of the purveyor - in my 61 years of getting hair cuts i have never needed to know what or how the cutter does their job - i simply sit in the chair, say what i need and i get a hair cut - it has never been an issue before - As a person without gender who has a dead name i am also saddened that this business owner chose to label me as an alias - clearly she is out of touch - CONSUMER BEWARE - you are free to choose who cuts your hair - use caution before approaching this business owner for any services - particularly customer service - you will only be disappointedConsumer beware. The one behind the desk was my stylist. She was great. I wish I remembered her name. I went with a straight cut, with bangs. Layers gave me too many problems. And bangs well looking at my forehead or so long every time it was up, which was all the time. Made me want bangs. Glad I did it. The stylist was awesome. Very calming. I believe I had eight inches taken off. In other words I love my hair cut!

Wow, Liz and Sumi certainly worked their magic on my hair. My appointment started out with a thorough consultation to understand my hair type, my face type and how I style my hair on a daily basis. Then, we proceeded to a trim to the side of my head and at the back of my head. Sumi asked lots of great questions and walked through every step of the process to make sure I was aware of the procedures and communicated what was going on, which I really did appreciate. Then, we proceeded to the application of the solution which was pretty cool as it was 3-person teamwork project to apply solution while putting my hair into curls. It was actually a fun experience. The final reveal of my hair was amazing. I was in awe of how my dull and boring thick black horn could look naturally shaped with the curls. The style was clean and smart and the staff provided helpful tips to ensure that I can maintain my look for a long-term basis.
